Time to Wake TFU!

New to the TNation+ site but known about it since 2006. I’m probably one of the typical former in shape guys that had let myself go to hell with work, kids, injuries…also known as excuses are like assholes…
What I’m here for is I’d like to start from scratch…no preconceptions about lifting for a 58 yo and I’d be interested in possibly getting a program from one of the coaches here.
Online is good and maybe a local visit if needed.
Thanks in advance

Great to have you along dude!

The first step here is knowing the goal. What goal would you want a program for?

I like the way this is starting. You sound determined. Now just stay committed once you choose that plan. But yeah, @T3hPwnisher ’s question is the correct next step.

Welcome aboard!

As above, there’s not shortage of programs (nor will there be any shortage of recommendations) when you tell us your goal - I’d also add days you have available, equipment, likes/ injuries, etc. The good news is it won’t matter a ton. All the coaches on here are smart professionals: any of the programs will be great, and none is a life sentence - do one, then try another.

If I may offer my $0.02, I think this:

is perfect. You’ll have a way better go if you just roll with your current reality vs. the you from a different situation (I’ve had to come to grips with that myself). Good on you!

Thanks for the support guys.
Summary is 58yo, C6-7 fusion, L2-S1 herniated discs, lots of spurs on the vertebrae, left knee replaced, Right Achilles torn, DM2 with ok control, kidney stones…

As for goals, realistically able to work out 3–4 days a week…I have access to a local gym with a pool, and have an elliptical and dumbbells/kettlebells at home.
I miss feeling strong…I know that I need to start from scratch from a plan( used to do the old standard 3x10-15sets for most exercises) and need advice/professional coaching tailored would be very much appreciated.

What are you capable of doing, pain-free, for legs?

Sorry for the late reply…I can do hack squats, curls and extensions. No ballistic jumping b/c of other injuries but otherwise willing to try anything.
