Define majority. A few bad apples don’t ruin communities.
Over half.
I could be wrong, and I try to be an optimist, but I don’t believe over half are stealing from the grocery store. I don’t have anything to back that up other than optimism for people and gut feeling. My gut feeling is that it is around 10% that are causing these grocery stores to close.
Yeah, I’m not sure why avoiding crime and putting your kids in good schools is a bad thing. Regardless of race.
And it’s ironic, when white people move back in to city centers, it’s also racist.
Everything is racist. Constant victims. The church of Gibs Me Dat and Reparations need it for the offering plate.
And so unprofitable businesses will continue to create food deserts, retailers will avoid certain neighborhoods et cetera and life will look exactly as it should for an entire group lacking any sense of personal responsibility.
I had a black friend growing up who tried to explain the concept of an “Uncle Tom” to me once and it was pretty fascinating. In a nutshell you literally fail on purpose or else you’re “yellow”. And there you have it. All the problems. And no groceries.
Even black people want to leave those areas.
I lived in a neighborhood that had been all Jewish at one point. The same area that Philip Roth grew up in. My neighbor was an elderly woman whose family was the first black family to move into the neighborhood. It eventually became all black and she said it was so much nicer when it was mostly Jewish.
It’s a problem of proportions and nominals … it is a relatively small proportion who are the shit heads, unfortunately, that makes up a nominally large group … i.e. if all crime in an area is committed by only 10% of the population of that area, that’s a low proportion. However, when the absolute population of that area is even 100,000 people, that’s 10,000 shit heads. That’s a lot of shit heads.
In a city like Chicago, there are about 2.7 million people. About 8% of the population (about 223,000) live in the South Side which is the highest crime area. That’s a low proportion of the entire city, yet still a lot of people. A common statistic (pulled from politifact) is that about 15% of the population commits 100% of the crime - if that stat holds up then about 34k people commit all the crime in South Side Chicago … that’s a lot of shit heads. And of the entire Chicago population, that’s only about 1.2% … a very low proportion causing a lot of crime, but as an absolute body, it’s a lot of shit heads…I’d wager that, as a while bunch, it IS ruined by a few bad apples. relatively speaking…
If you look at the bigger picture of dysfunctionality, you’d probably find a higher percentage contribute to the overall shithole status of the community. Just look at reading and math scores, they show the majority are below standard. This creates a large underclass of unemployable people.
Because Businesses cause it. They leave causing no jobs and the whole place turns to shit.
This is not the root cause. Why do the businesses leave? Surely if they could be profitable they would stay.
Businesses are responsible for creating ghettos.
Explain your logic on this one. That makes no sense to me.
Not saying your wrong but I don’t see how you arrived at this conclusion.
I already explained though.
Did you take in why my family and millions of others left?
Do you think businesses make a town nice, or do the people make it nice?
If it was earlier in this thread I missed it. Haven’t read every post here.
No, the residents are responsible
Ultimately it’s businesses because they offer the necessary resources in order for a town to be nice.
Should they do that at a loss? Or if their employees are in danger? Or if they have more goods stolen than sold?
How do you even think this country was made? People used their ingenuity to make it.
Some people have the ability to make a town better.
“Bad neighborhoods” is actually a misnomer.
Capitalism and Slavery
Oh wait those two are practically the same thing or rather related.
So all the countries of the West, and their outposts, were built on slavery?
