I know only 2 on the snatches. But I took my earbud out of my ear and the rubber piece stayed in. Then Itried on the other ear and the exact same thing. SO I decided to end it there. Went back to the tent, grabbed an automatic pencil and dug them out. It wasn’t as bad as it sounded. But my bench isnt looking too good.

Workout felt pretty good. Squats still suck but felt better, guess I need more warm-up than anything.

Reminds me of the Stephan Korte routine I tried once, squat, deads and bench for lots of sets, 3 x a week.

Definitly concentrating on the big lifts. Good lifting, the numbers should increase. Earbuds wont stayin my ears. I wear small headphones but not while I’m lifting.

Brett, i thought squats and deads in the same day were bad too, but, since its just one set of 5 it isn’t that bad. Harry, I understand not being able to wear heaphones, I can’t stand the over the ear ones.

I still can’t do pullups on my own yet, but I can do sets of three in chins and neutral grip. Closer and closer.

Well the squats got to me today. Supposed to 5 sets and only got 3. And i’m not sure about the depth. Guess I’ll be here for a bit. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever make it into the 300’s.

You’ve got a good deadlift, so the strength must be there. Have you tried box squats? That’s the way I managed to check my depth.

Don’t be so tough on yourself. You’ve only been back in to it a few weeks. The squats will come.

Positive thinking remember.

Brett, you’re right, I just have to keep at it. Sooner or later I will get my squat into the 300’s

I didn’t know this, but apparently Tuesday is curl day in Afghanistan. Everyone in the gym was doing them. Not as surprising as finding out about man love Thursday though

Bench just wasn’t going to work today. My left shoulder told me to try again in a few days. Not sure why.

It will come on Squats, sometimes you’ve just got to grind it out.

No deads today. After the squats, I didn’t think I had them in me. But after going to get my laundry I figured I did. Next time I will just take a longer break and do them.

Really stuggled through today. Couldn’t get the OH weight up. Prolly time for a deload. Next time will lower the weight and finish the reps.

What’s the temperature like there right now? Does it make lifting hard?

You know something? It’s been my experience through living it and watching it, that those who can be consistent for a good long time, see the best success. You’re bring consistent. I’m reading some remarkably consistent training logs. Progress will come, it’s just the way this works.

And no, it won’t come at the pace you want. And chances are someone else will notice it before you do. And then you’ll take a step back and suddenly, there it is.

Prolly so Ken, its just slow. Brett, right now its about 34c prolly alittle cooler, but I train indoors where there is ac so it doesn’t factor in that much.

Taking a break from lifting and decided to do some KB work. I changed up to the 70lb bell.
20 two arm swings
20 pushups
10 BW squats
Two rounds of this about 4 minutes total and I was done. the 70lb bell isn’t for the timid. It will take some work to build into this beast, but build I will.

After maybe too long off, back at it. Squats could have been better, but still felt pretty good.

UN- sorry it took so long for me to circle around to your log…training looks good…but that is insane doing squats, bench and deads in one session…and a 70lb bell…a tip of the hat to ya , sir!

Thanks OG, but after today I think I will leave the Texas Method and head back to some 5/3/1. I was warming with 135 and my inner thigh told me it would be a bad idea to squat today. Which then ruled out OH presses since I have clean the bar from the floor. So I ended up just doing some pull-ups. I will do some body weight stuff and KB in the meantime.

On a completely unrelated note, I was looking at the website advrider.com. I was perusing the wives and girlfriends thread. Some good looking women there. But the part that got me was the scenery in the background. One of the things I love to do is take the bike out in cooler weather, which in Texas is the end of October till about March. We don’t have the mountains I saw, but it made me miss riding. Now that site is geared towards the non cruiser type and its a good way to waste some time. I have a Triumph Thunderbird now, and it will be paid off by the time I get home. If I am lucky and am able to get a couple of months at home before I come back, I plan to trade it on a Rocket 3 Roadster. Still not an adv bike, but along my style. Hopefully I will get in some cool weather seat time in. Maybe some trips to Arkansas or Oklahoma.
