KB Cardio
Did the normal workout. Kinda timed, forgot to bring my logbook. Say 10 min 1st and 15 min second. I added an extra set of 5 snatches and 5 presses to my left side to see if it evens out my smaller side. Also started practicing OH squats. Using only a broom felt pretty good. Will try the bar next week.
You’re not obsessed, I’m obsessed. I even brush my teeth with my left hand as often as possible. Whenever I catch myself doing something (that is part of a routine) only with my right hand, I try to learn to do it with my left.
I’ve tried doing more stuff with my left side, but wound up overworking and stressing out the left side, which led to decreased performance. Now, I just use my left side first, and will stop after the same number of reps on the right side, even though I can do more.
With barbell exercises, I try to use the mind-muscle connection to focus on using my left side. My “gauge” of the efficacy of this is that when I’m successful, the left side should be sorer than the right side, if that makes any sense. I only do it with upper body stuff; my squat is so shitty, I don’t care how it goes up…
Puny, we think alike. I find myself doing a lot of things with my left hand as well. And yes, I also concetrate on my left side when I do unilateral movemennts. I’m nat as obsessed as I used to be; now I’m just perturbed. I’m thinking thats better.

I had no energy today. I’m hoping its because I skipped lunch casue I didn’t feel like walking there in the rain. I brought all kinds of things with me, but nothing for the rain. Didn’t see that coming. And it does rain here in the early months, quite a bit.

So how much does it rain there?. I always think of Afghanistan as desert, so assume it’s fairly hot all year round. Is it winter there now? and is it cold too?
That’s an awful lot of deadlifting in one session and I’m assuming OLDL is one legged deadlift, what do you do with the other leg?
How’s the weight doing? With the change in available food have you lost some? I am of course remembering the austere conditions of the old tent cities and living out of a back pack. Damn MREs had about 3000 calories in them. Chow good and readily available?
Well Brett, I used to think the same thing. Its why I named the blog I am keeping my life in the sandbox. But I sure didnt do any research on it. It’s mostly mountains here. And yes, it has been very cold this past month. And supposed to rain more this week.
It is a lot of deads, And I’m not sure it isnt too much. OLDL is on legged deads. I raise the other leg. I’m thinking of replacing snatch grip deads to one armed deads. Maybe I should drop one of the three out. I feel pretty good though. maybe its because I keep the wights and rep schemes different.
HEL, the weight is doing well. I came here in tight 36 and now it is loose. I have only dropped about 10lbs I think, but I have lost a few inches, which I am more concerned with. And the chow is good. i’m thinking that since i’m not eating all the preservatives and the like when I am eating at home it has had a good effect on me. Sure do miss the beer though.

It seems another set of BSS’s was going to be too much. I might have to drop the second set to 25’s, its embarrasing, but might have to be done.
I will aslo need to drop the weight on my BB Curl. Also embarrasing but needs to be done.
To make up for it, I walked to the gym, in the snow uphill both ways. It started snowing here about 3 and hasn’t really stopped yet. There’s only about 2 inches on the ground now, but that might climb by the time morning gets here.

Decided to change my KB Cardio routine. So I went back to the KB Meltdown 300 that I found on Youtube. Its done for time.
25 V-ups
50 Snatches
25 Push-ups
50 Swings
50 Burpees
50 Clean and Press
50 Moutain Climbers
Time 41:24 53lb bell
This wouldn’t be so bad but the Burpees are murder. I can only get out about 10 at a time. Just have to keep doing them till I get better. And with the Snatches, I alternate between KB and Olympic style.
These KB cardio workouts look pretty intense. Are they having the desired effect body composition wise? are you trying to drop weight or just “lean out” a bit?

Keep up the good work, do those burpee things with the wife on the saturday crossfit workout from hell I do with her.
Man I havent done up-downs since I was in HS football.
50 burpees? FIFTY???
Holy. Just the thought makes me nauseous.
Brett, they are pretty intense. I’ve only done a couple, but I am looking to lean out and still keep muscle. And, for some reason, I love being gassed at the end.
Thanks DJ, my girlfriend is finally doing crossfit too.
Canada, 50 burpees isn’t easy. It’s the longest part of the workout.

I could feel my entire left side working. My shoulder and tricep gave out on form at 4. It wasn’t pretty, I will have to keep doing them. It was harder than I thought it would be.
And, after a week off die to snow and bad weather, it felt good to get back into it again.

I tried doing the Burpees 5 at a time instead of ten and it went better. My time was down but I think I might have gotten lost in the count on Swings.

I definately miscounted on the last workout. This one felt a little better. And I added the push-up at the bottom of the Burpee, I don’t know why but it seems easier that way. Maybe I’m just weird.

That about sums up my feelings about training at the moment. About the only positive thing I can say is that I’m consistent.
Brett sometimes that speaks volumes.

Kb Cardio
We all know the routines by now. Did it in 36:50. I’m starting to feel a lot better doing it.
KB Cardio

Not bad considering I had no desire to go do it. I think I am stuck in a weightlifting rut. I just don’t have the desire to lift right now. As much as I know I can be kicked off the thread I am going to depart from 5/3/1 and try something on my own. I think I will keep it simple, something form the Waterbury school of thought. An upper body push, an upper body pull and a lower body movement. Need to get a little more motivated since my leave was approved and I will be headed home for a few weeks in June. Woohoo
Sometimes just a slight programme change can be all that’s needed to re-motivate ones self.
And from now until June is a good amount of time to really get stuck into something new and see some results.
