Tiger's $750 Million Divorce

I think it’s funny that people have said this is what’s wrong with America’s divorce system. This is a settlement. Privacy has a cost, and he was willing to pay for it. If he’d litigated this, it would have been much, much uglier and more public, even though it would’ve saved him several hundred million dollars.

Neither one of them deserved all of what they got in this relationship.
I agree.

But for that kind of money I would have bought my very own tropical island and an army of nubile playmates to entertaion me and help me deal with the, um, loss I guess, while she was out there bashing me.

My lawyers could call me once things have blown over.

He should have her killed, pay off the entire police force, judicial system, Barack Obama and probably have what $500 million left over? Thats what i’d do…

Maybe he shouldn`t have had multiple affairs.

That sort of deal sounds like it was made on his part. HE must have asked her to keep quiet about his affairs and in turn paid her for it.

Quite true…however going from being a nanny, to having 800 million dollars earned by somebody else, for being cheated on seems slightly excessive…no?

Again Tiger should have never gotten married…you know that shit is not gonna work.
Oh I completely agree… its extremely excessive.
There can be many many factors factored into this whole situation. Especially things that have not been released to the public.

What if one of his affairs gave him some sort of STD and he then passed it onto Elin. etc etc

I`m just making shit up.

I personally think he is a fool. Living the life that Tiger does, why would he ever think that having affairs would stay a secretÃ?? That was idiotic on his part.

I hope he gave her aids.

most of that money will go to his kids. there is no way she can spend it all. if she ever remarries, she will sign pre nups to protect her kids. by all accounts, she is a decent woman who does what she can for her kids.

yes, she will have a very good life, but so will her kids and their kids.

What I don’t understand is why he entered a marriage without some kind of agreement in regards to divorce. It sounds like he left his assets unprotected. Not too smart for a guy who likes to fuck around.

There are damned few people that have $750 million in anything that could be converted to cash very quickly.
Good point.
That kind of money is way over my head, I mean I can keep a pretty decent scoreboard in 501 and multiply by 45, but anything over a few grand is unfathomable.
You a dartplayer there Diana?

I’m not half bad, good enough to drink beers and play a game at the RCL (Royal Canadian Legion). Old war vets like it when the “young” people come to play a game LOL.

Its stupid for him to pay that amount, but lets think this out. Why would he pay that much to keep her quiet? Yeah he has issues but what can she say that would destroy Tiger so bad beyond repairable? Hmm think about it. There are 2 theories running about and one is Steroids, with the recent drilling of that doc that came from Canada. Which Elin may have possible knowledge of.
But even that is repairable.
What is not repairable is Elin coming out and saying that Tiger likes tube steak. That will kill him wether true or not. And we all know they will believe Elin no matter what, maybe she just shookdown Tiger like Obama shookdown BP.

Unless Tiger’s gay, he has no reason to hide. So what if he banged a few Waffle House waitresses. We’ve all been there. Not every chick can be a beauty queen. I’d much rather Tiger come out and say:

“I banged a lot of chicks. A LOT. Some pretty. Some ugly. All freaky and nasty. Get over it”

He drops the mic and throws a millions dollars in the air.

Simply because you give AC so much crap - I just wanted to let you know this is real communist talk right here. Tiger is “worth” whatever he earns, regardless of how silly you think that is. There is a demand for Tiger Woods that people are willing to pay for. He’s a very rare commodity.

No communist talk would be me saying they should take his money and give it away to the poor. I’m a capitalist thru and thru… His wife earned that money, she may not have worked very hard for it (a lot of rich people don’t work very hard) but she earned it. She was dealt a hand that she played to her max and got every dime she could for it. Thats capitalism at it’s best, seeing an opportunity and seizing it! Any rich business man would have done the same if he saw an opportunity to make this kind of money, even if it was on the back of a major corporation. I do realize how messed up it is, but I was just giving a reason for why I don’t particularly feel sorry for tiger. He used his abilities to get filthy rich, and he will continue to be rich, just not as rich. His wife used her abilities to get filthy rich as well. This is what business is all about…

And AC is a fkn communist… The only reason he comes here is to practice his english, which he first picked up in a Russian Prison from his American POW cellmate. true story.
Reread your post, man. You displayed resentment towards Tiger because he’s worth a billion for playing golf and then sympathized that teachers, etc. aren’t being paid enough and shouldn’t be laid off - and THEN decided what Tiger wasn’t worth!

I don’t feel sorry for Tiger AT ALL. I couldn’t give two shits what he loses, I feel resentment for Elin for what she represents, that’s all.

Well then what we have here is a failure to communicate. I was trying to communicate the fact that Tiger is grossly overpaid for what he does and therefor I don’t care if someone screws him for most of his wealth because what he has left is still more than those with more honorable professions would make. That doesn’t mean I believe he shouldn’t have that money, he did what he had to do to get it. I was just trying to paint a clear picture of why I don’t feel sorry for him.

I think you’ll be surprised what good performance and a few years will do to his image.

Koby fucking raped a chick (allegedly).
That is true to a large extent. You could however, make the case that Kobe never fully recovered from it even with his improved performance.

Kobe is a great example of how to handle scandles, btw :D. Every time he had a court appearance the same day as a game, he`s go off in that game. It was amazing.

There’s also a big difference from Kobe ALLEGEDLY raping someone and Tiger ADMITTING he was unfaithful.

Kobe also admitted he was unfaithful and MAY have raped her.

Kobe’s situation (admittedly being unfaithful along with possibly committing a brutal crime) is worse the Tiger’s, IMO.

Kobe went for the “Holy Trinity” and got caught. That’s all. Use your imagination kids.

BS I can name 5 women hotter than her.

And didn’t Kobe doesn’t have the same market size or appeal as Tiger IMO so anything he did is going to be considered small time compared to Tiger.

Oh be quiet, virgin.

“Tiger Woods’ divorce couldn’t cost him $750 million, because he doesn’t have that much money, Forbes’ SportsMoney column argued Thursday”

“Forbes magazine says it’s absolute bunk that Tiger Woods is about to pay wife Elin Nordegren $750 million in a divorce settlement.”

I have to agree with both these statements. It was the first thing that came to mind when I read this thread. Tiger makes a lot of money, but not that much.

His most lucrative deal was $100 mil over 5 years with Nike. Golf actually doesn’t not pay that well at all(compared to other sports). I think he only earns about $10 mil a year from winning golf tournaments.

Most of the speculations about him being a billionaire is exaggeration. Don;t get me wrong - he is still extremely wealthy but $750 mill is all or more than he is worth.

This could be a settlement that he has to pay her over the course of the next 10 or 20 years. No one said it was an upfront cash payment.

True, but that is a lot to ask for when tiger is struggling hard at the tee and his sponsors have dropped him.
