Squats tonight. I plan on doing a lot of warm ups to get the depth on the working sets. Gonna also try the walk out and hold for 20 seconds with a supra max weight.
This avatar fits me much better. But I don’t have any hair on my head.

Hey! that looks like one of our guys at the SF Zoo! So is what you look like without manscaping?
Didn’t feel to good last night or today. On the ride home from work Friday I started to feel sick to my stomach-skipped last night. But I did squats tonight at 8 pm.
9/6
squat 355x5,405x3,455x3(belt and wraps with 455)
walkout 585x20 sec
thats it. Didn’t even want to do this.

Nice work!
I’d like to be at the meet to see you guys lift. Have a great time and pictures always make us happy ![]()
When I squat deep my ‘tear drop muscle’ really aches. But with the knee wraps there was no pain. I don’t know why. I was also able to get lower with the wraps on. Is it something about the additional support?
If I did foam rolling on the area would it help. I’ve never done any recoup stuff before.

The wraps provide just enough support to even out the tension and take some pressure of the bottom of your quad. The wraps also provide you with a little more spring out of the hole so you probably felt better about going deeper and exploding out of the bottom.
Foam rolling is always helpful on almost any muscle. If you do it regularly it really aids with recovery. Be prepared, the first couple times you do it is very painful…
Tried to deadlift last night but my low back still aches from squats Saturday. After this meet I may only do front squats. I may take this week off completely. I wasn’t built for back squats. Weird that deads don’t bother my back at all. Must be a flexibility thing.
Geech,Skid or Hel do you think ass pullups would help.
Yep I think those ass pullups are going to be the thing in every old guys workout in the coming years…

Eco,
Great thread, great numbers you’re putting up. You’ve inspired me to start my own 5/3/1 program. I’ve been following this thread silently until now, but I have to ask, what is an ass pullup?
DB
Check hel’s thread. The ass pullup is explained there.
GL DB I think you’ll like the 5/3/1 program. After this next 4 week cycle I want to add clean and presses and rack pulls using the 5/3/1 method for these exercises.
Going to attempt some yoga and stretching for the rest of the week to try and relieve my back pain. Just imagine 5’9’', 255 lbs, stiff as a board doing yoga…should be funny.
You almost made me bust my gut, Eco.
Maybe you could put up a squat video sometime. That’s no good when it begins impinging on your DL – especially because your back is obviously strong.
The ‘back pain’ I sometimes get is always due to tight hamstrings and glutes. It will be interesting to see how the stretching program helps you.
The ass pullup had me laughing all morning.

Oh, those. I do those all the time. I just didn’t know what they were called.
DB
DB, what is that exercise called that your avatar is doing? And what does it work? Could you superset that with the ass pullup?
