This Will Ruin Your Day

He’s not going to kill two kids to save his own skin when he can’t cover it up. He was selfish enough to kill them instead of letting them live their lives, so going quietly was not in his DNA, no matter what the reason.

If “that isn’t what happened”, why don’t you give me your version of what did happen and we’ll see if it’s more plausible. You’ve digested the link I posted, so naturally you’ll stick closely to the facts…
There’s a lot of possibilities on why he took them with him. I’d rather not speculate on it, because we’ll never know. It’s a waste of time.

If you’re saying the fact that they were testifying and saying stuff in regards to the mom disappearing led to the father’s murder suicide, then I’d agree with it. But saying he’s eliminating potential witnesses doesn’t make sense. As soon as he made up his mind to commit suicide, the courts don’t matter. He could have committed suicide and the boys grow up. There would be no reason to fear witnesses.

This story pretty much consumed our state(they were from Utah, and this place lost it’s collective shit when the mom disappeared)…I cannot fathom the level of depravity.

Just fucking horrible.

How? Both those statements are the same, just differently worded. They were incriminating the father…what’s the difference?

You’re already speculating by posting, so let’s hear the possibilities and we’ll see if they’re any more plausible than what I said. See? It’s very easy to shoot someone else’s opinion down without offering one of your own.

And if the Mother IS still alive, why hasn’t she come forward after this has made the headlines?
They weren’t witnesses when he decided to commit suicide. He had nothing to fear from them. Like I said he didn’t need to murder them to protect himself. “Eliminating potential witnesses” implies that he had to murder them. He didn’t.

But he DID murder them. That should give you an insight into his mindset. There was no other option. All of the other options you are speculating on -and you ARE speculating- are what a rational mind might do in that situation; you are superimposing your values on his. Do me a BIG favor and read these passages from the case that you did NOT read the first time, then tell me the kids weren’t potential witnesses or that he had nothing to fear:

"In recent months, the children had started opening up and talking about what happened the night their mother disappeared, members of the Cox family said.

“They basically kept saying how they went on a vacation in the desert, and camping … they stopped at some place, and Mommy and Daddy left, and only Daddy came back,” Judy Cox, Susan Cox-Powell’s mother, told NBC’s “Today” on Tuesday.

Chuck Cox, Susan Cox-Powell’s father, told “Today” that the younger boy, Braden, had drawn a picture of the family’s minivan. Asked who was in the minivan, the child told his teachers “that was his daddy, Charlie and himself, and that Mommy was in the trunk,” he said.

But, Cox told ABC’s “Good Morning America,” the boys’ remarks were inconsistent.

“When I would say, ‘Well, Daddy said Mommy stayed home’ (from the camping trip), then they would go back to, ‘I don’t remember,’” a rehearsed, you know, a coached statement," he said.

Authorities believe that by setting the fire, Powell not only killed his children – he eliminated evidence in his wife’s disappearance.

“Those boys were evidence. Those boys were going to be evidence against him,” Troyer said. “You’re looking at somebody who’s willing to kill their own kids … killing your wife isn’t that much of a stretch from there.”

AND

" Nancy Grace reported that the search for Susan took a dark turn when her then-four-year-old boy reportedly said, “Mommy’s in the mine, looking for crystals.” Search teams scoured an abandoned mine shaft near the family’s Utah home with no success. "

Nice try. There are facts and evidence. You are already “speculating about the mind/motive of a madman” and you’ve obviously considered these other possibilities you speak of to dismiss what I said as “stupid”, so let’s hear them.

I don’t think there’s any point in arguing or trying to find reason in his actions. Some people are just plain evil.

i think what this p.o.s. did is fucked up. But, since we do not know what was going on, maybe he didn’t kill his wife, maybe these kids were getting brainwashed by state employees, and after hearing things his kids were saying flipped out. By no means do i condone what he did…we dont know all of the facts…we just know he is a fucking nutjob p.o.s.

We are not GODS (all seeing)…We were not there. We do not know the facts… And, the police don’t have all the facts, otherwise he would have been charged with murder. We can’t judge. We don’t know

Most of us can read. Only a few genuinely interested in the topic bother. Some just give opinions on opinions and pretend they’ve read around the case when they haven’t.
Police have found 200 more student bondage photos allegedly taken by Los Angeles school teacher Mark Brendt, who is accused of sexually abusing elementary school students.

Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Dan Scott said today that the pictures were much like the first 200 collected by authorities in the year-long investigation into Berndt, but at least 25 more students from Miramonte Elementary School are depicted in the pictures.

Investigators are trying to identify the 25 students.

The initial batch of photos showed children blindfolded, with cockroaches on their faces and spoons full of semen in front of their mouths.

Hey check it out, more horrible news. This has been a horrible start to a new year.

The crazy thing is those kids are now like “we had no idea” and thought it was for a class project, the blindfolding and stuff…I mean how do you get a whole classroom of kids blindfolded, gagged, and bound without them HELPING or at least AGREEING? That’s the sick part.

No only you think it’s important to eliminate witnesses to a murder you did right before you commit suicide. I don’t know why you’re freaking out about it. It was a stupid comment. Get over it. Don’t play this stupid passive aggressive BS with me.

As soon as you get over the “ohmygawd I can’t do this” feeling, it’s pretty enjoyable. I’m kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now…lol.”
I almost posted this yesterday. Damn. Killing at the age of 15, killing a friends younger sister.
I read this article earlier this week too.

TOTALLY FUCKED UP. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?

OK. Where did you get that ^ from? It wasn’t a stupid comment: you called me on a stupid comment, without knowing the facts of the case - which in itself is an act of stupidity.

I ended up having to spoon feed the facts to you, because you clearly hadn’t even read the article (even though you claimed you did; if you had read it and disagreed with me, you’d have used the article against me. Can you do do that? Have you tried to do that?) so you have no right to call any comment ‘stupid’. I’ve shown you how I came to that conclusion based on THE FACTS and you still won’t have it, now you’re trying to accuse me of freaking out and being passive agressive. Blatant attempt at trying to wriggle out of the hole you’ve dug for yourself.

Again, Where are these other possibilities I’ve asked you for? I’m asking you for your take and the truth is you either don’t have one or are too scared to post it. Man up or shut up.

Either way, you don’t have the luxury of calling anything in this thread stupid, not with pearls like this: " Yeah but if he wanted them to suffer he wouldn’t have been chopping at their necks" (oh yes, very merciful!) and “If you’re saying the fact that they were testifying and saying stuff in regards to the mom disappearing led to the father’s murder suicide, then I’d agree with it. But saying he’s eliminating potential witnesses doesn’t make sense”.

…Also, there’s nothing “passive agressive” about a general observation of people being interested enough to weigh in but not to read the background material - I wasn’t just talking about this thread. If you feel strongly enough that you have to call it “stupid passive agressive BS” then you KNOW the comment applies to you.

Kids are told to trust their teachers and they should be able to…but then some prey on that trust.

We had an award winning sub when I was in middle school, he was loved and admired by teachers, students and parents. I did not like the guy but could not say why. My reasoning was no one should sweat so much before classes started. Odd thing. But he turned out to be a pedophile. Busted that year.
