As far as Austraila they enacted a gun law so Nazi that They couldn’t field an olympic rifle team a few years ago, and in just like any other goveremnet that suits it’s own interest 1st instead of their subjects they just changed the law again to suit their needs, not their peoples. Like it was scribblings on toilet paper to flush when they felt it got a little dirty. Europe… Hitler bragged in '35 or '36, I can’t remember when exactly, that they where the first country in the history of the world to totally disarm their people, boy that turned out well. England had a forced gun buy out, firearms that were irreplaceable family heirlooms, firearms that were hundreds of years old were crushed for the trade of something like $50 - $100…and their VIOLENT crime has gone up exponentially (that means quite a lot) EVERY year since. And if your ignorant enough to say “well I’d rather have my family beat up because I don’t believe in guns” and are to lazy to teach them safe handling, Well simply put you don’t deserve a family, if you are not willing to protect them from all comers. Why do I need a gun that holds 30+ bullets? Why do you need a car that can go over the speed limit? By your arguments any car that can go over the speed limit should be forcibly taken from you by your goverment, be crushed and you compensated to the tune of…$100-200 sounds fair. because the only people that need fast cars etc. are cops and emergency personal. But that would probably be against your rights to kill someone in a high speed accident because you’re too stupid to say “no” to that one more in the pub. Why do you need an I-pod that holds a million hours of music? why do you need a T.V. that’s 5 feet across? Admittedly it’s because we can in most cases. I’m not sure just how Nazi our gun laws are. My friend has rifles, so hey cant be too tough.
Anyway, I don’t feel the need to be armed and neither does most of the country. That ‘need’ is fueled by fear, and were just not feeling threatened. You guys have had your war and don’t want to go there again. We must learn our own way, but I’m pretty sure we’ll be ok.
Personally I think the trained forces would kick your butts if it came down to it. Anyone know what the odds of victory for the people are? But then again, the government would have to convince all the armed forced to shoot civilians.

You make the assumption that the armed forces would choose to stand and fight on the side of a tyrannical govt.

My mom is a federal cop. My grandfather was a federal cop. My brother is an Army MP Officer. They would all fight on the side of the people in an uprising. The armed forces are regular people, the police are regular people. Many law enforcement and military personnell in the states are arguing the same argument that we are. You seem to lose the simple fact, that the trained forces you speak of, are our own forces. They are still the common citizen of the US.

Youre right. I want a gun now. I had a shot of a 357 magnum in Thailand in November. The dude didnt speak english and just handed me a gun a bunch of bullets. No instruction, no signing anything, just shoot. I had to ask for ear muffs. Luckily I’ve seen a few movies so loading it was no problem.
