One thing that will always make me happy is the ocean, sitting down at the beach, relaxing in the sunshine and have a swim.
My parents give my kids their Christmas gifts on Thanksgiving since they don’t see them for Christmas. My mom has Alzheimer’s. As my oldest opened his new Hawaiian shirt my mom said “oh I like that”. Walked over, grabbed it from his hands and put it on. He looked at her and said, " That looks good on you Grandma". What a great kid. ![]()

He will be receiving a new shirt in the mail.
As a proud scab I’ll fight you !
You should unionize is what you should do brother. Better pay, better benefits. Keep that scab shit over there.
Im totally kidding. Come from a looong line of union men
I’m taking a research seminar class and today was the last class.
Prof surprised us last week by changing the final class from paper discussions to research idea proposals.
I somehow managed to come up with an idea that everyone liked and make a more or less improvised presentation that classmates rated as “well delivered”
even better, I got to put a tank in my presentation since the idea was on government contracting
This morning, to me: “You? You look fantastic.”
Made me happy.
I should add that this was said by a fit daughter-in-law, who is currently benched because of a vertebrae issue. We were talking about modifications and what she’s allowed to do in the context of a how-many-cookies-is-too-many conversation.
So benched because of a bad back makes me sad.
Happy: fit daughter-in-law, we’ve bonded over this
Happy: cookies as wished until all gone, then straight and narrow during the quiet months.
This has been my theory for the past 2 weeks.
I absolutely MUST have food joy, and this is the perfect time of year for that.
Luckily for me, the my-side part of the family, which is 4/5 of the kids, eat like I do. We had adobo chicken bowls for dinner Christmas Eve, and my son’s dinner last night was equally be-as-healthy-as-you’d-like. Along with all the goodies, of course. So a little of this, a little of that, and fill up on ham and roasted veggies and galumpkis and lightly buttered noodles.
Which is another happy thing.
What a happy-making picture. That’s one lovable looking kid!
What kind of action figures are those on top of that cabinet ??
True
Those are wood carvings made by my wife’s grandfather. The one on the left is his wife walking the dog on the beach. The carving on the right is a depiction of my late father-in-law surfing a So Cal beach. The portait drame left is also the carver’s wife.
Our home is full of these. So is our garage and storage closet.
I meant to reply to @marine77
I knew nearly all of the movies in that!
Danm I’m old.
Those are very cool!
Changed it
