Things That Make You Happy

Been thinking on this for a few days now and wondering why it has stuck so strongly in my brain. Seems like such a small thing. I came to the realization that as a mother of sons you seldom have someone looking up to you. I am obviously someone they count on. Mom can you make this. Mom can you make sure that is clean. Mom can you help me with this project. But when it comes to who inspires them, it’s always dad. I get it. Dad teaches you how to be a man, how to be a dad, how to live a good life. Mom is there as tech support. Sometimes I just feel left in the dust. Such a small thing. But to be noticed, to be seen. Maybe to have been a bit of inspiration.

Thank you for sharing this, helpful as a husband and father. I will try and help shape the way my kids interact with my wife, just to occasionally share these kinds of messages with her, not in a forced or disingenuous way, but I’m confident that there are loads of ways in which my kids are proud of their mum (less maybe less so as they’re both teenagers and those things are notoriously hard to please!) but kids aren’t good at expressing and sharing those things, it doesn’t seem to come naturally…or to Brits in general, we’re a pretty reserved bunch.

I’m the oldest of three brothers. Although I was an adult before I realized it, it was my Mother that was the anchor in my life. Young men don’t always share with their Mothers like they do when they are boys, but that doesn’t mean they don’t recognize the effort/sacrifice.

Although I’m pissed off that I squandered my paperwork time and will have that much more to do over the weekend, I’m happy I just spent time reading about the things that made us all happy in 2019. I stopped about a third of the way through the thread because I’m out of time, but it was a nice look back.

Lol. Can’t say you weren’t warned. :rofl::rofl:

Isn’t there a lesson in the bible about looking when you shouldn’t? Pillars of salt and all…

Yea but fortunately my warning was from @SkyzykS not God :joy:

That is a very important distinction. But I believe the lesson remains the same.

No pillars of salt from me!

Maybe cheese though. Mmm. A nice sharp cheddar. Or some dank provolone.

My husband told me that he can tell I’ve lost weight. I mean, technically he walked up behind me, humped my butt and said, “yep, that’s smaller”. But the sentiment is there.

Is there anything more affirming than wood? :rofl:

The great thing about him is that he is funny and I never have to wonder if he finds me attractive. Lol

A little late in the season for this, at least where I live, but it makes me happy so here you all go once again:
