My gram to the principal upon being told I would be sent home and suspended for fighting- ā€œWell… Did he win?ā€

My 3 year old was complaining about a girl in class hitting him. I asked what he did about it: he said he told the teacher, but the other kid still kept hitting him. So I asked what he did about that, and he said he just cried and hugged his stuffed animal.

That made me sad.

My daughter would have pushed the other kid to the ground and probably kick them. As they probably deserved.

Very different kids.

Those who walked out really missed out on a great speech. Seinfeld at Duke

Walked out of a commencement speech?

Yes, they were protesting Israel. Jerry Seinfeld is Jewish. So students walked out. Not many. I do know this. Regardless of who the speaker was/is, had I done something like that at my college graduation, my father would have walked out of those stands, walked up to me, and dropped me on my ass.

Revoke their degree if they can’t handle something as simple as someone speaking.

I went to college in Iowa so every presidential candidate came and spoke on campus. I went to all of them including the ones I didn’t agree with because I actually wanted to hear what they said. Maybe I had it wrong.

The idea of critical thought dying makes me sad chuckle.

Forced indoctrination?

I think this is an insightful analysis.

I know this the Chuckle thread so I won’t go any further into PWI territory here than this, but I think this article that I posted in an Israel thread is somewhat an opposing view to the one you shared.

I’m not necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with either, but it gives a different viewpoint.

And for the record, if students truly walked out simply because Seinfeld is Jewish, that’s disgusting. Nothing about that behavior should be acceptable.

End of political talk from me :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes but there is a better time and place than the commencement. And I don’t think listening to someone speak is forced indoctrination even if they hold wildly different opinions. Sit quietly for a few minutes, rant about it later on social media if you must.

I cannot understand how Seinfeld (the man, not the show) wasn’t cancelled back in the day for dating a 17 year old he met on a park bench when he was close to forty.

They need to cancel that park bench for letting an under age girl sit on its face!

We went camping over the weekend and I couldn’t find the arm floaties for my kids.

I went to my basement gym and found this.
