That brand is toast. Homeland safes look like exactly what I’m looking for. Good prices, too.
We signed up for a 4 meal trial of Hello Fresh (I think that was the one). It was far more work than I normally would put into a meal. I thought the point was it was easy haha. It was more so a grocery delivery service than a meal prep thing. IDK, do people actually regularly cook meals like that (3 course, with 10-20 ingredients)? Not my style for sure. I like a protein, a veggie. I’ll add butter and seasonings to things, but 2-3 main ingredients is all I care for.
I know several people who have tried this. Mostly older people who’s grown kids ordered it for them. Every one of them asked them to stop it.
I know some people that do cook like that, but not many. Me personally, if it has over 10 ingredients it’s a no from me.
I read a recipe for a cake to my friend that can’t see the other day. 31 ingredients! She even said… No, that’s just too much. IMO you would have to be pretty well off to even have most of that stuff in your pantry.
Dude, we’ve done Blue Apron and Hello Fresh and they both increased cooking time by at least 3x. It’s nice that you have most of the ingredients and don’t have to measure, but they were all so complicated.
Yeah, I tried like 3 different ones and I disliked them all. Way too many ingredients. I think the lowest number of ingredients I found was 8.
I typically use 6 or less + salt & pepper.
I remember them taking roughly 45 minutes of cooking which for me is a no during the work week.
I think to be fair to Hello Fresh, they are not a meal prep service. They do as you say, portion out ingredients so you can make the meal. It simplifies grocery buying, but I wouldn’t normally make that complex of a meal.
The only problem with Hello Fresh is the portion sizes. Too small, even though we tried the largest package. But, tbh, we all eat like horses in our family. I’m wondering though, whether portion sizes differ from Europe and the US (as no one here seems to complain)?
