Things That Make You Chuckle

Those assumptions are okay IMO - they’re like nobody is going to give out $5 to make $6 when they know there is another $5 option that makes them $10 (and isn’t any riskier)

Where it falls over is the world is full of pricks that obscure your choices and make it hard to understand what you are really spending and really getting back or they amp up fears or greed to make the risk hard to understand.

All of my teenager friends went to college on the GI bill.

Isn’t that from the 1950’s

I think it started after WWII.

That’s what I thought

US history isn’t my thing

Military service is a family tradition. I missed mine when my enlistment was disqualified, but pretty much every able bodied male in my family has served since they arrived here in the early 1900’s.

What branches? How long did you serve?

All branches. In my direct family, all navy, but over all, a lot of army, marines, navy. Not much air force though.

I didn’t. I got pretty messed up and disqualified a week before shipping off to boot camp.

Gotcha, if I would have read your post more better I would have noticed that you mentioned a glitch prior to enlistment.
Both of my parents were in the army and met there on base, but both did their absolute damndest to convince me and my brothers to stay out. It was the eighties and a didn’t want to cut my hair anyway…

I think things go the way they’re supposed to in spite of our best attempts.

My dad made it clear that enlistment was the plan. Graduate HS, enlist. I ended up taking the asvab to get out of class for the afternoon at school and participated in the delayed entry program to get enlistment bonus and credit for recruitment of others.

Then party, drano, etc. Ya know.

Not nearly as chuckle worthy as…

80’s Hair! :joy:

If you told someone back in the 80s that Mr T’s hair would age the best they’d say they pity the fool who thought that.

So during one of the last few storms we had my girlfriend stocked up on a bunch in random food that wouldn’t go bad just in case. One of those things was ramen noodles. She was telling me how she’d doctor them up and put eggs and stuff in them.
So last night we got to talking about them again and decided to make some. I was assisting, she got the eggs out and told me to put them in. So naturally I cracked 4 eggs and just put them in the pan with the water and everything else.

Turns out she meant she puts the whole egg in their to make boiled eggs… turned out super cool though. Idk if anybody had every boiled an egg out of the shell, but I have now :joy:

Put a little salt in the water and stir the water to make a little whirlpool and they come out perfect and round.

Very good shit.

Also to get rid of the little stringy things, out into a tight collider (like a tea filter) to let the lose part of the white drip off.

My younger son has started dropping mom jokes.

Why are you looking through the trash?
Finding your mom

He doesn’t know what he’s saying but I laughed the first time he said it so now he always says it for everything and every now and again it is hilarious.

Having just been talked down to by some honkey liberal from Sante Fe for two hours re: COVID vaccinations for the tribe, I really needed to see this video.
