CT,
If rotating test-boosting supplements every 7-10 days or so, can this be done for extended periods of time without “time off” or would you need to take breaks at regularly spaced intervals?
You ca stay on for a long time if you rotate. But I still prefer to take a break every 8 weeks.

I was also wondering if you could list some of the physiological mechanisms that cause myogenic tone or direct me to a solid source of info on the science behind what causes it.
It is mostly based from experience (lifters who focus on strength and power have denser, harder looking muscles). I’m not sure if there is any research on it, after all it isn’t really a subject that would warrant a university research grant!

So while the bottles of Alpha Male and TRIBEX recommend 5 days on, 2 days off(or in the past, some have recommended 2 weeks on, 1 off), if rotating various test-boosting ingredients as previously mentioned, extended use of up to 8 weeks is perfectly “safe” for the body?
computer troubles…I apologize for the double post, coach.
another question ![]()
can fish oils/omega 3s have an effect on aromatization?
also if a client is adrenally fatiqued…pretty badly…like a grade 4, would a liver detox be a bad idea? because the h9/h12 is pretty stressful to the system.
beyond that i would like to wish you and your bride to be a fantastic month off.
i hope you arent honey mooning in ireland the weather is shit!

Yes, it’s not a matter of being unsafe so much as it is about the body lowering its response to the product.
Thib,
While snatch-grip deadlifts are great for increasing stress on the upper back due to increasing the distance the bar has to travel, would there ever be a reason to use a snatch-grip on RDL’s?
CT,
Just like you can increase triceps activation by pulling apart the bar during a bench press, is it similarly possible to increase activation of the posterior deltoid, infraspinatus, and teres minor by trying to pull apart the handles during a neutral-grip row or to increase posterior delt activation by pulling apart the bar during a barbell or seated cable row?
CT, is there any way to treat a sports hernia because I think I have one?

Read the posts about my rules… I do not answer questions related to injuries. I feel that it is irresponsible to do so online without being able to assess the client.
You had mentioned earlier in this thread of the danger of adrenal gland damage with over-use of stimulants, and the length of time it takes to recover. When you say a long time to recover, are you referring to months or years? And how does one actually recover from damage done?

The thing is that each case of one injury will be specific to the person. A same injury in two different people can require a different rehab approach.

Coach-
Do you know of any good strength coaches in IL? I only know of two, Mike Bystol and Mike Gattone. When the time comes (after I gain Poliquin level 1, and maybe 2 cert.) I want to apply to one of there facilitys. Aside from working at one of the facilitys and gaining experience/knowledge, working with one of the two Mikes would be an amazing experience.
So as a coach yourself, what do you look for in someone you work with or are willing to mentor?
Plus, just out of curiosity, how were you able to gain the opportunity to work with Poliquin? I know Bystol had the same chance and I’d dream of doing the same thing with a coach like one of the Mikes.
Thanks coach!
Hear your getting married next week, BEST WISHES!
Thib,
I have a few questions regarding “special” exercises. How would the effect of lean-away one-arm shrugs and supinated cable shrugs differ from that of traditional barbell or dumbbell shrugs?
And for a combo or low-incline combo press with dumbbells and cables, what have you found to be the easiest way to get into the starting position? Would it be best to attach the ankle cuffs to your wrists, get in position, and then have a spotter hand you the dumbbells?
CT,
Since wide-grip/elbows in and close-grip/elbows out curls each somewhat shift the stress towards different portions of the biceps, does this mean that humeral internal or external rotation has an impact on biceps activation or are the effects of the previously mentioned types of curls due to other factors?
Hey coach,
should the dietary fiber in non-green veggies be counted to the overall carbs or subtracted?

There are several factors involved. Read this for more info

BTW, just for kicks here is a picture of my biceps taken 10 minutes ago. Sorry about the bad quality, I have not yet mastered the art of cell phone pics!!!
Not bad considering that I hardly have time to train right now.

I have answered this about … oh… a zillion times. Count them as carbs.

They have a greater range of motion, use the whole function of the upper traps (elevation and upward rotation of the scapula) whereas the regular shrugs only focus on the elevation portion of the function of the traps.
Furthermore both the leaning away and low pulley shrugs have a resistance line that is closer to the orientation of the muscle fibers of the upper traps, which makes them more effective movements.

Yes, that is normally the way to do it.
