Thibs Q&A April 21-28

Hey Coach Thibs,
Thanks for this thread!

I just wanted to let you know that I asked you a couple of questions in the Article Discussion of “Five Elements of Program Dominance”.

Thanks again!

Charlotte

I have been following the training plan you had for Bart’s Transformation Clinic for last 13 weeks with great results (Down 24 lbs. of body fat, at 167 lbs. currently).

My only problem is that I feel that with this program I am chasing two birds with one stone. I love that I am up to 9-10 mile runs, but I feel that it isn’t the best program at my stage for body comp. I am in the no man’s land body fat wise (13-14% body fat.) I am wanting to shift gears with my training and was hoping you could help point me in the right direction. I have just started Get Jacked Fast and before I get very far into it I was wanting to make sure that would be the plan for continued fat loss. My only goal is single digit bodyfat.

Any advise is appreciated.

Hey Thibs,

Wrote in a little while ago about the tucked pelvis while squatting and really appreciated the quick response! I’ve been working on the psoas and rectus daily but I’m lost on how to loosen the lower back? I’m just worried because of all the stuff I’v read about wanting a stable lower back and just don’t know a real good way to free it up without loosing some stability?

Im probably way off but would love some clarification.

Thanks again for the help!!

I know this thread is past the title dates, but I’ll ask my question anyway.

I’m finishing up the Velocity Diet, but would still like to lose some more fat. I plan on using your Refined Physique Transformation training/nutrition guidelines along with 2 bottles of Receptormax (I have poor insulin sensitivity and store a lot of fat in the lower back). Would you recommend any change in the Receptormax dosage based on the low-carb nature of the program?

Thanks.

I would still use it the same way. If you ever show signs of hypoglycemia then reduce the doses, but it isn’t likely to happen.

If anything Receptormax will help you during a low-carbs diet, especially if you are lack insulin sensitivity.[/quote]

Thanks. Appreciate your help.

Hi Thib,

Have you trained clients who had to be on corticosteroids, specifically prednisone? I?m coming off a month-ish long taper down (during which I didn?t do much working out, and lost a fair amount of muscle) and can?t wait to get off the stuff, but I?m not sure how long my doc will keep me on it, I?m at 10mg in the a.m. right now.

I?m starting to get REALLY motivated to get back in the gym, but do you think that the prednisone will be detrimental to me making any significant size/strength gains? (I?d like to lose some of the chub I?ve accumulated on the stuff as well, but I feel like that would be totally worthless to attempt now, and will probably just wait til I?m off it completely).

If you have the time I?d really appreciate your thoughts on this!

Thanks!

Hey Coach,

I have been reading you comments for a while now and have to say that they are probably the largest source of information I have when it comes to nutrition and training, so basically…thanks, a lot.

I am also curious if there is any eta on the new program you are working on. I have been doing more low volume stuff as of late, leaving reps in the tank so to speak, and it sounded like this new thing would be a good change up. I am very eager to find out more, and am curious about the timing. I understand if it is “top secret”.

Well, I am off to look up casein hydrolysate since I have never heard of it before!

Thanks again.

The project is ever evolving, I’m actually leaving tomorrow for a trip related to it. The good news is that it is gonna be much bigger than anticipated, the bad news is that you’ll have to wait for it a little longer.

Define longer

coach,

have you had an opportunity to try testo libre? if so, care to share your thoughts?

much appreciated!

Hey Thibs,
What do you think of 150m allout sprints for fat loss ?
Thanks for answer.

Thanks for your reply on the fatty acids

Besides the get Jacked Program what would you reccomend for the individual who is insulin intolerant for strickly a maintainence procedure. In terms of grams per day for a higher quality brand like flamout or some I have at my office.

thanks I appreciate it.

I just finish Get Jacked Fast and I’m very pleased with the results. I’m down 24lbs and strengh is up. Thank you for putting this together. I can’t wait for your next program.

Hockey specific training.

I understand that the best sports specific training is actually doing the sport, but is there any ‘dry land’ training I can do to help me out with my one night a week old timers league games?

Thanks

quick question: how many days a week does the program require?
It looks like you’ve got some great results. They’re the results i would like to see for myself, however, i’m not sure if i can totally commit to the program (time wise – wife, work, kids, etc).

hi coach
just sent you 3 weeks out pic
did you got it?

Dude, nice work! Any before photos?

Hey Coach,

Only CT could inspire me to make my first post here, First just say you write awesome articles I’m a big fan!

Question:

in you article “Truth about bulking” you said a person can only gain 0.25 - 0.50 of muscle mass a week.

say if someone did strength training vs same person doing bodybuilding style training, diet being exactly the same.

would the hypertrophy be the same just different aesthetics, or would the bodybuilder style version be bigger even through same amount of pounds gained ??

cliffs

  • is there a point in me doing bodybuilding style training for mass when i can just do strength training and still gain the 0.25 a week, or will i be physically be bigger doing bodybuilding style training? :stuck_out_tongue:

  • Took this from the other thread. I think you may have answered this before, but if you haven’t it would be good to hear your thoughts on this

In Poliquin’s new article he said

"A: Quality of sleep. It’s the most underrated health indicator and recovery factor.

High-quality sleep means putting your head on the pillow and not waking up until the next day. You also want to wake up at the same time every day.

But quantity of sleep isn’t the only problem. Erratic sleeping patterns are also bad for your health and your physique. If you wake up in the middle of the night to go pee, it’s not good sleep. "

I ALWAYS get up to go to the bathroom at least once a night. I recently started taking 3 pills before I go to sleep which gives 100% magnesium, calcium, and zinc but it doesn’t seem to have much affect. I also don’t drink much water close to when I go to sleep.

Any tips? I can’t remember the last time I slept a straight 7-8 hours

The Calcium maybe hindering absorption? Theres a few threads on the competition of absorption between calcium and zinc. And i remember coach Thibs suggesting taking Mag and Zinc separately, although i too would like to hear your ideas on this since i wake up to pee sometimes, usually at the same time as well.

Just wanted to throw in my hopes that the previous two questions get answered. Want to sleep through the night? Check. Drink minimal fluids in the time leading up to bed? Check. Wake up at least once a night to pee? Check.

Thanks!

Do you see any benefit of using your heaviest weight in the firtst set then decreasing the weght with each subsequnet set versus working up to the heaviset weight on the last set? I was wanting to keep the reps the same for each set, such as 5 x 5 , 4 x 8 reps, etc…Thanks

Coach,

I have a serious matter on my hands. My brother and I started prohormones two years ago so that would make him 17 yrs old and myself 18 at the time. We used the methyl-1 pro hormone (P-Plex) for a month, at the dose of 15mg daily. Since then our side effects are severe acne, belching, inability to digest foods & gain weight, loss of chest muscle, feeling of low testosterone, depression, anxiety and many more symptoms. Our overall health has declined since taking these hormones.

Thibs, even till this day we are experiencing these symptoms. Sir can you provide us with any advice?

I appreciate your time.

Respectively,

Brian & Lucas.
