Saturday 04/30/2011. Legs

Morning Jog: 20 min.

Front Squat: 225-295. 7 sets
Back Squat: 275-345. 8 sets

  • Left shoulder HURT. Same impingement feeling. DURING the back squats it didn’t feel bad. AFTER a set was over it went through periods of feeling ‘tweaked’ all the way down to the elbow
  • No deadlift because ripped callus is still healing and I didn’t want to push it. So increased volume.
  • I blame the lowered weights on no SURGE recovery. Low-carbing it at this stage in the game. PRs will come back, later. LOOKS like I’m losing fat, but it’ll be another six days before I weigh myself.

Morning Jog: 20 min.

  • So thats 4x/week morning jog and 4x/week sprinting. Nothing but Surge Workout Fuel in the PWO shake. I’ll keep it at this for another week before I add anything, see how far this’ll take me.

  • Stretched after workout. I think this’ll be an excellent method of improving recovery without increasing calories.
  • Got a lot of pointers on benching from Lucas. Apparently, the leg drive I thought I was getting, I wasn’t getting. Real leg drive involves benching with the ass only barely touching the seat. Also, on a higher bench. Apparently, fuck Hammer Strength.

Evening Jog: 20 min

  • Threw jog in evening just to see if it worked. It didn’t. The extra time spent was whatever, but while I was running, my calves and hams threatened to cramp. Also, my shins felt like lead. Running on pavement is no good, but its better than the grass in that area, because theres less chance of dogshit and sprained ankles happening to me.
  • Row weight suffered because no straps were available.
  • Snatches and sprints felt good though.
  • I was told I look like Thor today. Granted, it was from a kid who probably wouldn’t know thor if he mjolnared him in the face, but the point was clear- the cut is going pretty well.

In February and March I ran a two-month experiment with TCâ??s â??Dick of Deathâ?? formula. Such supplementation looks like this:

Vitamin C: 500mg, 2x/day
Vitamin E: 400mg, 2x/day
Nettle Root: 40mg, 1x/day
Pycogenol: 50mg, 2x/day

The end results were noticeable. My penis, always wonderful, achieved full length at lower levels of arousal, and was noticeably harder, with more frequent erections and stronger sex drive. Aggression and/or assertion was not noticeably improved. Loads were bigger, but that might not necessarily be due to the medicine, but rather an unrelated decrease in average fapping frequency.

If I had to assign numbers, weâ??re talking maybe a 40% increase in rigidity. Granted, at the time my cardiovascular health was shit and I smoked for a good portion of last year, so anything that improved blood flow would cause noticeable improvements. I don’t know what other people’s experiences have been, so I don’t know how much of that is me and my body’s chemistry and how much is the drugs. That said, my dick became welded steel almost at will. Maximus B wasnâ??t lying in the original thread when he said heâ??s got a hammer in his pants. Merely severely exaggerating.

The downside was that a two-month supply of this hocus pocus would run about $100. The vitamin C, E, and Nettle total about $30, and the rest is the Pycogenol. Itâ??s probably made from tiger balls, soaked in the period blood of whore-priestesses or some such nonsense. I ran a one-month supply of the Pycogenol, just to see how itâ??d work, was pleased with the results, but not enough to continue supplementation.

That said, I am continuing with the rest of it. I figure I can get maybe 50% of the results for about 30% of the price. That strikes me as a good deal. The vitamin C and E are great antioxidants and good for the immune system as well.

So, nothing out of the ordinary, no shooting back to the Kennedy assassination, and no spontaneous eruptions of penisi on my hands and neck like George Washington. The medicine does what itâ??s intended to do, but Iâ??m not in a position where I can purchase the full load on a regular basis.

  • Didn’t wanna do it. Felt weak and tired like a kitten all day. Was going to do some bicep curls and foam roll and call it a day. But didn’t.
  • Switch got hit around 3 sets into front squats: finished the set like a BAUS! and just wanted to roar. So I decided to keep going with the ferocious feeling because, fuck it, I felt like my balls had just woken up.
  • Fuck, maybe they had.
  • 445 DL was hitched like a motherfucker. The ones before that felt cleaner than science.
  • No shoulder pain. Felt that was significant. That means it actually could have been the bar that was messing with my shoulder. Or maybe just that day was Meh.

Thursday 05/05/2011. Push

  • Still working bench technique. Raised the bench so I can get my heels on the floor, am pushing with my glutes, its feeling a little stronger, but I just couldn’t get 285 for three. The first rep felt good, and then people started trying to cue me and with the leg drive thing I just got out of the groove. Nailed one rep the first set, and two on the second, decided to call it one total rep and just move on.
  • With sprints I tried something new. In order to push the envelope on my speed, I had Joe chase me in a fucking car while I’m sprinting. He didn’t pull any punches, either. That motherfuckers a mad-man, hand to God.
  • This one time I thought he was gonna pull it straight, and just drive alongside and shout encouragement, like the short useless guy from ROCKY. So when I called ‘START’ and his car started to accelerate, I just jumped on the back of it. Easiest way to get my cardio in ever. Pretty fast too, until he hit the brakes and I tumbled the fuck off his car in a (fairly sizable) heap.
  • Then he taught me technique for TireFlipping, because he was tired of hearing me bitch about having to run. I don’t know if the tire is actually six hundred fifty pounds, but I do know it scraped the living daylights and a hefty portion of the top layer of skin off my front deltoids. Felt fun though. Will probably trade jogging for TFlipping.
  • I don’t know WTF is going on with Jogging. I just can’t sacrifice that extra hour of sleep in the morning. Its not worth it, and recovery is difficult enough as it is. I wanna just add in some extra tire-flipping when the ass-busting part of my workouts are done just to get some extra motion and get my heart used to being a little higher than it usually is. Call it GPP or conditioning or fucking around, whatever. I’m not doing it seriously enough to be really assisting my fat loss, but its faster than walking, and easier than sprinting, and more fun than jogging, so, so be it.

  • Morning Weight: 254lbs. Progress, but not really all that great. However, this is the first fat loss I’ve seen in over a month, so I’ll take it. If this trend continues, I should be ALMOST at 240 by the time this segment is over (8 weeks from now).
  • Tireflipped only four times because front shoulders still sore and hurt. Good god that shit hurts the uninitiated. Its like a hook grip, but without a way to work up to heavier weights.
  • Sprints felt slow. Easy, but slow.
  • Todays nonsense came during power-snatching. I took a lesson from the P90X Playbook and loaded up an oly bar with 80kg on a dare. The bar was 20kg, one side had a 20kg plate, and the other side had two.

Muscle confusion, bro.

Then I cleaned and jerked that ho. While yelling ‘Champion’ repeatedly.

  • When I say ‘KB Swings: 100x70lbs’ I mean one hundred total swings with a kettlebell that weighs 70lbs. Thats not all one set. Its spread out throughout my workout. Mostly at the end.
  • Tried inhaling ammonia today. Not snorting the caps, like the cool powerlifters do, but Joe brought a quart of ammonia cleaning detergent and had me sniff that. Shit was like inhaling capsicum. Only did it for my last set of deadlifts. 445 was easier than 425, though.
  • Have begun stretching after workouts. This is just an insane volume for my legs, and I think they’ve held up under it fairly well. I want to continue that. So after my long-ass workouts, I add a little bit more and either stretch my quads and hammies there at the gym or in the shower after I get back.

  • Low back pain during start of the workout. Over time and warming up, faded. Pain like back felt stiff, and spine felt like like it was rattling around in
  • Didn’t wanna do this, felt like beaten crap, so decided to get through power snatches and then do an abbreviated version of the rest. Got through rows, and then realized I didn’t have that much to do anyways, so just went for it. By the end, felt pretty good.
  • Power snatch went first. Went really well. Good for making sure I can use the good bar before anyone else can jack it for DL’s or whatever.

  • 305 was awful. But had bounce at top, even if was really difficult around sticking point.
  • 445 was hitched like a motherfucker. Still made it, but should learn to make it smoother.

  • 235 on Push-Press was a 2+1, but made it. Like a beast/champ.
  • Last three sets were 275. After 275, I felt like I could push for 285, but just wanted to get finished.
  • Should have done some BlastAbs. Forgot. I wanna say I’ll make it up Monday, but I probably won’t. Fuck it, they’re abs, they get trained a lot as is.
  • KB Swing total for this week: 420
  • I was right. Many weekends I don’t make it up to the gym on Saturday or Sunday for whatever reason, and usually thats leg day, which means my leg development gets behind. So I switched my workout schedule so that now its bench day over the weekend to see if it’ll motivate me more to get to the gym. Turns out, tricking myself worked. I’m actually somewhat depressed I’m this easily fooled.

  • PowerSnatch was awesome. Fucking Awesome. Warmed up, got up to 205, felt light, added another ten pounds, felt good, but I could do more, so I added ten more and barely got it up. But I got it up. For a set of three.
  • Thats a 20lb PR.
  • Also, it means that I can power-snatch what I used to could full-snatch. For a triple. Nice.
  • This PR was brought to you by three pounds of t-bone steak over the weekend, some stretching, and probably the 400+ KB Swings I did last week.
  • So on Rows, I worked up to 140, and then, since 140 isn’t high enough but 160 is too high and they don’t have a 150, I throw some chains wrapped around my arm while I’m hoisting the dumbbell. It works.
  • BlastAbs+Sprints mean that my abs felt pounded, stitch in sides from running, had to go the last sprint around 80%. Was as much as I could do. Thats what I do when I can’t go 100%- I go through the motions, and do the best I can.

  • 10 lb PR on Front Squats, 20 lb PR on back squats. This means I can now squat my old PR for a triple. Been a while.
  • After setting two PR’s, I decided I was good for the day and wasn’t going to do sprints or ab work.
  • Then I did sprints because TAKING DAYS OFF IS FOR PUSSIES!
  • I know what MODOK was talking about when he mentions the weight feels ‘like a balloon’.
