Ditto. Very nice work. Im always envious of you guys who can come up with extra goodies to help work out–the rocks… tires etc…
Thanks fellas
Getting the big tire out this morning.
4 sets of 9 flips
2 100 step sets W/80lb stone
4 more sets of 9 flips
2 70 step sets W/120lb stone
2 more 9 flip sets
Cinder block shrugs
3x15
Torso twists with a big rock
2 sets till I had to put it down
That stone work is impressive and looks like a hot of fun.
You get the award for the most creative workouts.
Thanks guys,
Dragging sled
1 mile drag w/35 and a few rocks equivalent to about another 10lb
4 sets - 100 steps, cinder block farmers
Lunges
3x8 W/40lb DBs
Torso twists W/120 lb stone
2 sets - 10 reps back and forth
Some triceps work
That’s it. I’m adding torso twists with heavy stones. Thanks for the idea.

Cool! I’m likin’ them. The 120lb stone was a pretty good weight, but I think more sets and reps are in order. That was a pretty kick ass workout and I was running out of steam. In fact, I’m still sufferin’ today, sore glutes and hamstrings and just about everything else.
Just tire dragging today
3/4 mile drag W/35 plate
Finally got on a bathroom scale the other day…188lb, think I’d like to do my best to keep the weight off, under 200 as far as I can. I’m 5’10", and over 200 I felt heavy and didn’t really like the feeling, and I’m sure too much of it was fat. The more I lift the more I eat. It’s very hard to keep the calories down when you’re always hungry. But I think I want to try to commit to doing just that. This tire dragging burns shit loads of calories. I want to use it more and more, even through the Winter. The snow creates lots of drag on the tire making for an even tougher workout. I’ve got a couple ideas to get back to squattin’ again here at home, outside. That should be pretty hardcore, squatting outside in the Winter. I want to look into getting a safety squat bar to give my shoulders a break.
Nice work in here.

Squatting in the snow? Now thats dedication for you!
I squatted outside in the snow a couple of times a few years back. We were staying with friends for a few months after selling our house and waiting to move. I got my weights out their garage (where we were storing our furniture) and trained on their patio while it was snowing. They were great workouts. I’m not into all this “new age” garbage but it was almost spiritual.
Ok, they sound cool, but now that I’m going to do them I realize I am not too sure what they are. I know this much: you hold a stone (heavy one, lots of them around here) and twist from side to side. But where are you holding the stone? At the end of straight arms, swinging it from side to side? Or in closer and maybe higher? I’m sure I could figure something out and that whatever twisting I do while holding a heavy rock is going to be beneficial. But how do you do them?

You know, I saw you in the picture with the cinder blocks and realized how much shoulder development you have. Those exercises are really doing something.

x2 thats a hell of a statement right there for heavy Farmer’s Walks.

My avatar is the 80lb stone, I hold it just like that, high and tight to the chest. The 120lb stone is held a little lower, just because it’s heavier. That huge stone is hung way low because it’s too heavy to hold up high. But like you said holding any heavy object and twisting back and forth is going to be good for you. That’s kinda why I started doing them seems like good core work.
I appreciate all of the comments, very kind of you all to look in on what I’m doing. I know what I’m doing is very different to what others are doing,'cept perhaps the people training for HG and other outdoor games. I need to work with the assumption that I may not bench again, and figure out what I need to do to get my strength back. I’ll admit I’m having fun while doing it.
Today
Dragging sled for 3/4 mile. Swift pace, awesome workout
1 set-100 steps 80lb stone
2 sets 9 tire flips with the loader tire
1 sets-100 steps w/ stone
2 more sets 9 flips each
1 more set 100 steps
2 more sets of 9 flips
Back’s feeling a little tender so I’m gonna call it good right there. Wife and I have a tee time at a really nice course near us tomorrow, and I’d like to be able to move in the morning. Any body else golf? We’re no good, but we enjoy playing a couple times a year.
I enjoy golfing with my son but haven’t gotten out this past summer except one or two times late spring.
I bet you get better results with what you do than most of the people on this site and thats the only thing that matters.

Does it hurt to rotate your arm into position to hold a bar to squat?
And you don’t intend to return to benching?
Saw you posting over on strongman, looks like a lot of their training is in line with what you’re doing now. Gonna have to stay away from the bacon to keep the weight down. Love the workouts you’re doing.

It hurt me quit a bit before my surgery to get my arms rotated back to grab the bar to squat. Haven’t gotten under the bar again to see if it still does. I’ve never used a SSB bar but it sounds like the thing for me right now. The damned gym I used to go to here in town has a piece of shit squat rack, and no SSB bar. So, I’m gonna get something going on my own here.
I may train Bench again when it’s safe to do it, but only to get a little strength back. Doc said heavy benching will bring me back to him for complete shoulder replacement, the cartilage is completely gone in the socket, so I guess there’s no going back after it’s worn away. I haven’t been able to bench more than 185 without significant pain, I’m in no hurry to try it again any time soon. And if I ever have to have surgery again it will be too soon, that sucks!
