The Zombie may be Alive!

I feel like I should mention it was first reading your log that made me want to try all sorts of “out of the gym” GPP.

DZ,have you tried bradford presses? It a limited ROM OH press and (I’ve read) is tolerated well by a lot of people with shoulder issues.

I can’t get youtube here at work but here’s a verbal description:

Nice working DZ. Looks like you are getting more than the fire back! Lets hold off on the snows… or at least keep them up there!

i’m jealous. I had to retire my tire sled, at least temporarily. it was beating up my knee too much. I am hoping to get back to it some next year.

I’ve started doing some highland games cuz Harry’s sickness is catching. have you ever considered throwing any of your yard toys for distance?

The tire flipping has to put a lot of strain on you shoulder as does clutching them heavy stones to your bossom. Good workout.
You’d think…but so far so good, thank you!

I guess your arms are down by your sides with tire flipping, which is why you can do it. Things like MPs seem like a total impossibility. Pressing is scary, too. And crazy things like hanging the laundry on the line just exhaust my shoulder. I have some pain, but nothing like you describe. If my shoulder tires, it’s my biceps tendon that tends to burn. But even that is dissipating. I do have one spot that I can precisely locate where I have sharp pain on occasion. I believe it’s where one of the anchors is fixed in the socket.

Overall, I can’t complain. I’ve never been strong in the upper body. In fact, probably on the weak side. So I don’t expect too much in the “comeback.”
The pressing yesterday probably wasn’t the best idea, pretty sore today, not gonna do that again for a while. Looks like your doing very well to me, but avoid the OH pressing for a while yet.

I appreciate that Joe, most of inspiration for many of the things I do cane from this web site.

Thanks for that link Eco, I’ll take a look!

I love the dragging tire, it really kicked my ass today. Funny thing, I’m like 80% Scotch Irish, my Great Grand parents were from Ireland and those games you guys are doing look like fun.

Willy it could start snowing around here any time in the next 8 weeks or so.

Today’s workout

Tire sled W/35 plate
Went my usual 3/4 mile trail but took an extra block and back taking it closer to a mile.

Cinder block farmers
3 sets of 80 steps

Cinder Block Shrugs
3x15

Tire sled was awesome today! Felt great and kicked my ass. Doubled the distance on the “cindy farmers”.

The ‘Cindy Workout’. Sounds pretty. Great training DZ.

You’re really getting back into. Once that shoulder gets healed up you’ll be lookin for some meets.

Thanks guys! Yes perhaps a meet will be in my future again one day.

Monday and Tuesdays workouts really kicked my ass. My shoulder was sore for days, won’t be doing that again
any time soon, the OH pressing that is. My oldest daughter is starting High School this year, and we had our first open house on Wednesday. Very nice school, only 4 years old. So I took two days off to recover, and it was back to the sled today.

3/4 mile drag W/45
I pushed it really hard like I did on Tuesday, fast pace. Glutes, hip flexors, and quads are screaming at me.
Dropped the tire and quickly did a set of bucket farmers at 100 steps, and I’m toast. Time to eat!
Speaking of eating, special at work again this week, BACON $1.00lb, 15lb box for 15 bucks. I’m gonna have bacon for months.

That $1/lb for bacon is killing me…

DZ damn glad to see ya Bro!

Hey…thanks Colin. Great to hear from you as well. The guy who told me to make it real, get in a meet, and I had a blast.

Yeah - I discovered the same thing, getting out there on the platform makes it real and changes everything.

I lived off bacon scraps for a semester once when I was younger, lost fifteen pounds and picked up some strength. Bacon is good stuff, if you can handle it.

Daddyzombie, glad you are back.

Thanks E! The bacon is just a weekend thing for us, like Sunday mornings, usually during the Winter, Daddy will make blueberry pancakes and bacon, with real Michigan maple syrup. Mmmmmmm

Shoulders been really sore lately, probably cause of last Monday, that wasn’t smart.
Went bike riding on Sunday, and did nothing on Monday and Tuesday.

Today I’ll just work into a couple things.
Tire sled
3/4 mile drag

Bent over rows
1x12xbar
1x10x65
1x8x85
1x6x115
5x5x135

SLDL
3x8x135

2 sets each Biceps and Triceps

Sorry to hear that. You’re still doing a decent amount of weight (135 lb.) for bentover rows. I hope your shoulder’s feeling better soon.
