I’m going for size and power with my physique. I’m not too worried about being cut and trim to a certain extent. I always say that when my stomach gets to the point where i slap it and there’s a good 2 second jiggle to the left then back to the right…i’m DONE gaining weight!! But I don’t wanna look like a skinny abercrombie model either.
I’d say the kind of physique that inspires me to lift is Strong man Kevin Nee. THat kid is hhhyuge!!!
maybe one day…haha. If you can’t dream big, how you gonna lift big? or vice versa…
Good gains, no doubt about it. Keep up the hard work. To be honest, you do not appear very defined or cut to me. I know you are in a maximum growth phase and your BF% has taken a backseat. You look big, no doubt about it, and anyone can tell there is muscle hiding under there. But frankly, some of your shots are just not impressive from a BB standpoint.
I know you said your goal is not to be a turd A&F model, but I think reducing your BF% a little bit would REALLY enhance your physique.
Again good work.
thanks for the post man. I am in a building phase, but I think, well I know I’ve definitely built a lot more muscle than I had before, so if I did cut back down to my original weight even maybe say 190, i’d definitely be a lot more defined. Maybe I’ll do that years from now. I have a long term goal and cutting just is not in it for me right now. I’d never be able to lift the amount of weight I lift now if I stayed at 175. I will keep updating this for years to come, so the transformation will keep happening as long as I am determined to do so. Having this definitely helps me be a lot more accountable.
I do realize that this is a rate my physique section. I chose to post in this so that years from now, you can rate my physique as it slowly develops along those years.
Sorry if I piss people off
A cut down to 190 would be dramatic. I was talking more like 5-10 lbs, not 25. If your ultimate target weight was 205-210, maybe it is time for a little cut. If you maintain most of your muscle mass and just clean up the diet, your lifts could probably not suffer at all. Just my thoughts though, and no, you don’t piss me off.
No need to cut down yet. If youre gaining strength keep on keeping on. Now, youve gained some size but you seem to be developing the ol’ lovehandles, so I would recommend restricting STARCHY carbs around breakfast and the hours after lifting.
Also a few sessions of ordinary cardio 2-3 times a week should work wonders. And add fish oil and flaxseeds to your diet. Try to take a coupld of fiberchoice caps (or coarse bran) with non-PWO meals. That alone should make a difference as you continue to bulk up.
thanks for the post tribun.
As for Carbs, I honestly have not been too cautious of them yet. For me to gain weight, I need to eat a lot of them. But I do eat the fast carbs (english muffins/ white pasta) for breakfast and my first meal post workout an hour after my shake. Also, its probably not the best idea, but I’ve been doing it the past year and a half, every night an hour after i take my ZMA, i eat 1 whole and 1 half of a natural pb&j with a huge glass of whole milk.
I end my night with 1,000 calories, then fall asleep on it. If i cut that out, maybe it’ll stop the good ol’ love handle growth! haha we’ll see. My love handles aren’t too big yet even though I have slowly noticed them develope…I am watching them and will back off carbs/calories and when they get to a certain extent.
As I said before, when i get to the point where any part of my midsection jiggles, i’m going to switch to maintenance calories. I don’t want to gain an insane amount of fat and then take forever to strip it away…especilly around my midsection.
Also, I did just add in cardio for 25 minutes on the days I do not lift about 3 weeks ago…so we’ll see how that goes. I hit the treadmill at an incline of 2.0 and a spead of 7.5. it gets my heart rate up to about 135-140.
I already take in plenty of fish oil and flaxseeds. curious about the fiberchoice caps? Why do you recommend those? I do eat apples, whole grains, and PLENTY of greens (spinach/green beans in rotation. I cannot digest broccoli and it gags the shit out of me) So, are you recommending I take in even more fiber? Very curious. I’ve never looked into taking fiber supps before.
thank you!
Sorry to hear about the injuries man. It’s good to see you bounce back and get back into the gym. I hope this is a good year for you.
oh it has been a great year so far! I have taken myself from 190 in january to 212 in August. All my lifts have increased and the size that I put on isn’t all just fat around the midsection. Also…NO major INJURIES!! that is what is the most frustrating and depressing thing in the weightlifting game. You make great gains, then all of a sudden, a setback comes along and your fucked into waiting it out.
good job brining up the legs. chest seems to be lagging though.
…you mustve somehow totally defied the laws of bodybuilding gaining size while still drinking /sarcasm
yes, my chest is definitely lagging. If you look at my pics when i was 175, it was a little more dominant. Now, while the weight I can press is significantly higher, it is just not popping out like it used to. I’m working on it though. I spent a lot of time and effort in bringing up my legs and back, which were a huge weakness a while back. But as I stated, I’m not satisfied with anything right now in my physique. I got goals and I’m determined to get there.
thanks for the complement on the legs though. I’m happy with the development that I achieved with them. It’s hard to see cuz i’m so pasty white, but my quads are starting to get that separation. Even with a higher body fat I can see them trying to pop. It’s nice to know that if and when i do cut, they should be nice to see. I’m really ripping into my calves still. they are coming sooo slowly!! I didn’t wanna post a pic of em yet!! haha! Soon I will though!!!
and yes, the best post workout shake is one with 2 shots of jack in it. It really spikes the protein synthesis. I feel it working like you would not believe!!!
So it is close to the end of another year and I felt the need to post what I have accomplished since I began my journey of a physique change 2 years ago now.
When I first started I was 175lbs now I am 220.
The routine that I had followed was a basic bodybuilding one that incorporated the usual 4 exercises and 3-4 sets of that exercise for each bodypart. Well…I got bored with that routine and came across a few articles from a website named eliteFTS.com Next thing I know I ordered the Basic Training manual by Dave Tate and Jim Wendler. Needless to say, this book changed my whole thought and perception of strength and training.
In November I began using their routines of the Maximum Effort and Dynamic Effort training days. Training has once again become fun and my lifts in the squat, deadlift, and bench have increased significantly.
I’m curious to see how my physique changes as I incorporate this type of strength and power training in the months to come.
Here are some updated photos. Definitely pretty happy with my progress so far, but I am only going to continue in the right direction. I plan on putting up a training log to keep records of my progress in the 3 big lifts.

now at 220lbs.

lats coming slowly. Still doing a lot of various rows and deads

Back, coming slowly as well. Seems like I store fat in my lower back area as opposed to my stomach. Weird…
