Okay, so who went at midnight to see it? Who plans on seeing it this weekend? What are your thoughts about it?

First, PLEASE WRITE SPOILER ALERT IF YOU PLAN TO SPOIL THIS MOVIE.
I want to go to there.
I’m gonna see it, but I’ve heard they dropped a couple of things from the comic due to time constraints. Still, can’t wait to see it.

YESSSSSS!!! I won’t get a chance to go see it until Monday likely.
Actually I probably won’t even check this thread again until after I see it.
I saw it this afternoon. It was long, but pretty entertaining. I haven’t read the comics books, but I still enjoyed the movie.
I won’t spoil anything, but I honestly don’t think there is anything to spoil. Except one part, even I was like “wow man” when you find out.
That Silk Specter is fucking hawt. I got a boner watching certain scenes with her. She has great legs. I can’t stand it, I wish I had a girlfriend that fucking fine.
That Rorshac is a bad ass. He was really cool.
I wonder how that Dr. Manhattan trains?
Anyway, it was long and I had to pee at the 2nd hour, but I didn’t want to miss anything so I toughed it out. Good movie. Even if you didn’t read the comic books (like me) you will still enjoy it.
I hope that me not reading the comics doesn’t make me some sort of asshole. I know how fanboys can get.

I should have mentioned that in the first post. I’ll edit it to make sure.
I plan on seeing it either tomorrow morning or on Sunday, so I would appreciate no spoilers as well.
Going to see it this weekend.
I’ve read that they did leave out one of the side stories (The Black Freighter) but it will be included as a special feature on the DVD.

I can see how that would be confusing and difficult to include.

I love Tina Fey.
And I really want to see this movie.
I worked on this movie (on the effects side), and saw a pre-screening. I think it’s a really good movie. Hope you folks like it.
Man, I grew up with this comic, and never thought it would see film adaptation. Yes, I’ve heard rumors of things being left out (although they will be on the DVD), as well as a somewhat changed ending (what?! -lol), but I’m still looking foward to seeing what ended up on screen.
From what I’ve seen online, and a few clips on tv, it does look to be pretty true to the comic. I picked up tix last night for tonight’s 10:30 show, and will be seeing it with two fellow ‘middle age/comic geeks’, so of course we have our preconceived notions from the comic… but time will tell if it’s a good film, let a lone a faithful adaptation.
The few movie reviews I read in the newspapers struck me as though the writers hadn’t bothered actually reading the comic, and simply expect this film to be your typical super heros come out of retirement to fight a villain type of story,… which it most certainly isn’t.
Hopefully the audiences realize that the true ‘threat’ in the story is the impending nuclear war between the Soviets and ourselves, and watch the events transpire with this knowledge in the background.
S
just got back from watching it. an amazing, aamazing movie. really pulls together with the details as the movie progresses. definately reccomend it to all.
and yes, she is hot!
I have tickets for IMAX tonight, it’s going to be amazing.
I found the film to be extremely faithful to the books. Almost to a fault. Some parts felt more like a collection of short films because they would leave some characters for an extended period to focus on just one, much like the original comics did.
After the opening credit sequence, we get pretty much a blow-by-blow of the book.
Rorschach is so well played by Jackie Earle Haley that it could be about as spot-on as anything could be.
The film is also much more graphic than I figured it would be. Lots of gore, blood and a pretty revealing sex scene. (Also, plenty of blue full frontal.)
POTENTIAL SPOILERS
Gone is the entire Black Freighter story, as well as the young boy and magazine shack worker wraparounds for the comic-within-a-comic.
The end is changed, but not significantly so that it should upset anyone, I wouldn’t think. It makes sense and allows them to completely ignore the “island” subplot.
Two minor quibbles. 1) The weird selection of some soundtrack choices and 2) Veidt being so small and scrawny. Mathew Goode is a very slight man, and while it doesn’t take much from his character, they do show the Veidt Method ads from time to time and in the book, that was THE body-building program!
He was supposed to be the smartest man on the planet and I always figure him as being an Adonis, as well.
^ Pretty funny. The Wolverine trailer that played before the movie was really awesome.
I know I already stated this, but that Rorschac dude was so bad ass in the movie. I really liked him.
And the specter chick was so fucking hot in this movie. I am still thinking about her. Mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmm.
Good movie. I might see it again tomorrow if I get all my shit done early.
Kazmoraz sums it up pretty well.
It was a great movie. They faithfully adapted the comic to a “T,” really. I’m not going to lie, it’s in my judgement that (as a viewer) the experience would be better reading the graphic novel first. It helped me appreciate a lot more things that Zack Snyder did with the cinematography / art direction.
It is looooong, so make sure you check your bladder before you go in, too. That bad boy clocks in at 163 minutes… Yowza. Still, it didn’t detract any from the film for me.
------------------ SPOILERS !!!
I’m not sure how I feel about the slightly tweaked ending. I don’t think it hurt the story too much, but I didn’t like how it put more fault on Dr. Manhattan’s shoulders. I wanted to see the giant squid things, too! Whatever the hell they were, ha.
awesome adaptation. the casting of rorschact, the comedian and dr manhattan were spot on. i agree silk spectre was hot. it was great to see matt frewer and i looove carla gugino. i had to see the regular version. i wanted to see it in i-max but couldn’t wait until another day.
i was off and saw it this afternoon. it was sold out for all of the i-max shows. i will see it i-max when i see it the second time.
A movie is great when it completely engrosses your conscious…this is one of those movies.
Great visuals to match great story.
