Singapore is very strict. I don’t believe you’d agree with the idea of inducing this type of scarring over cannabis possession for personal use. Particularly considering you’ve specified “nothing that ruins lives” over possession for personal use
Singapore doesn’t differentiate. It’s all prison/scarring, distribution on a large scale = death
However the manner by which they put people to death is arguably more humane than lethal injection
Hanging by gallows is almost instantaneous. The second the floor drops the criminals neck breaks under the pressure of the rope. Akin to internal decapitation
No pain, no suffering. If you screw up a lethal injection the individual might suffer for hours. There are a few stories about this wherein new preparations were trialled as various prisons either ran out of supply or wanted a cheaper alternative wherein the criminal would be writhing around in agony for 12+ hours.
I don’t think this is true. My folks mandated to assimilate in more than one English speaking country.
Ireland (large catholic community) represents a cultural archetype that probably wouldn’t be too difficult to engrain yourself within.
Granted moving isn’t easy and I don’t think this would be a good idea as you have family, friends, a job and a house in the states… and you’d have to get used to listening to and understanding Irish accents (not an easy task)
Just specifying there are other areas of the world you could assimilate within, perhaps with relative ease. Northern Ireland also has fairly loose gun laws if you like shooting (I think looser than NY)

Perhaps when many of my old co-workers took vacations to their former countries I should have asked, “why are you visiting that sh-thole to visit your loved sh-thole family members and friends?” and seen how it worked out.

Allow me to use a simple heuristic, as dim-witted as it might appear. I don’t know anyone who dabbles in drugs, including “here and there” who I want to be around.
I did not have a distinct fashion for most of my teens though, like many young people in Queens in the 90’s, for some time I dressed in a fashion that is described with a politically incorrect portmanteau that I likely could use on this board up until about ten years ago with no repercussion but wouldn’t use now anyway in keeping decent.

I don’t think it’s dim witted, you are entitled to your beliefs. You don’t have to assimilate with anyone you don’t feel comfortable assimilating with. However I do have a problem with the idea of forcing a set of values and belief unto others. As per the scenario I outlined that you didnt answer re the mushrooms in the Netherlands.
Although I won’t be doing this, how would it have anything to do with you if I did? What gives you the right to punish me for doing something that in the circumstance I’ve outlined literally isn’t going to affect anyone negatively.
