Campaign for legalising heroin “at least it doesn’t cause homeless men to eat another’s face.”
@BrickHead @lordgains do you guys know lamb of god? I have a quarter sleeve tattoo commemorating them. Also have tatz commemorating mòtorhead and shining.
Motorhead also signifies degeneracy, perhaps even moreso than motley crüe. That’s not why I chose them though. I think they’ve put out some amazing, genre altering music. Fond memories exist in relation to the “ace of spades” song in particular.
Not getting more for a very long time, I’d wanted my aforementioned tattoos for years. Next time I get inked it’ll be related to something else I’ve wanted for a very long time as I believe getting a tattoo is a very big decision to make; it’s a semi permanent mark that is there to stay absent of expensive medical intervention.
I had an idea for a Judas priest tattoo, but it was too graphic for me to seriously consider getting (British steel tattoo with the razor).
I assume Brickhead probably wouldn’t have any as the teachings/philosophical constructs of Judaism strictly forbid body modification. What about you @lordgains? Not sure what Catholicism thinks of tattoos, I’d be interested to find out.
I just know that different subgroups have different stances (depending on Leviticus being included or not).
I myself don’t have any and I probably won’t get any. It’s nothing religious, it’s more that I think I’ll regret any tattoo I’ll get eventually. I actually do think some look very good but I don’t want them on me.
I also don’t accept them on a girlfriend. I actually use tattoos as an indicator of the quality of a girl, as I see a strong negative correlation between girl quality and tattoos haha
Think it’s dependent on the demographic. Statistically in Aus some 40%+ of kids my age have one or more tattoo. I suppose it’s dependent on the ink.
A girl with a tiny, non-visible butterfly tattoo on her shoulder girdle shouldn’t phase anyone, particularly considering chances are you won’t see it when dating (unless clothes come off). On the other hand, a girl with my level of “inking” might put some off and is relatively uncommon even within my demographic. It’s largely a generational thing, my generation tends to not care all that much; older generations/My FaMiLy tend to view it as degenerate.
I think a lot of chicks get these tattoos because it phases someone (parents like yours?) which is a bad sign.
Still, if somebody wants these 40% of girls, by all means, go for it. I just need one at a time which doesn’t have one haha
On another note, I saw a Steel Panther live video where they played “Just like tiger woods” and Tiger Woods came onto the stage and partied with them, even did the shocker at the end. I nearly died laughing
I don’t know about thus, I think if a girl got a tat to phase her parents when she was a kid it doesn’t intrinsically reflect badly upon personal character. People change over years, I’m not going to judge someone over a tiny tattoo they got 10/20 years ago.
My rationale for getting tattoos had nothing to do with my parents. If anything their disdain toward them delayed the date by which I procured them by 1-2 years. It was only until I was juuust about to leave home that I pulled the trigger.
What’s more, from what I’ve been able to interpret many of these tattoos are more/less related to “I was in Amsterdam/London/whatever. One night I was pretty drunk and thought this would be a great way to commemorate the fantastic time I’ve had with my friends over the past few weeks”.
Generally speaking Aus isn’t a particularly religious country. Regarding adulthood many parents couldn’t care less about a small tattoo. From what I’ve interpreted, you are older than I am. It appears to be a generational thing, older generations tend to look down upon tattoos as they’ve been associated with degeneracy/poor decision making in the past (and still are to an extent).
Do you hold men to the same standard? If you had an adult daughter who came home with a guy who had a Metallica tattoo what would you think?
We are referring to the current era teenage/young adult demographic btw. If you’re older it’ll be considerably more uncommon to find girls who are inked.
If you feel as if you need to exclude women based upon prior decisions like this, go ahead. But I can’t help but feel you might potentially miss out on a match, or even god forbid a soulmate because of something trivial like a tattoo. My tattoo artist is a woman and isn’t into drugs/deviant behaviour or anything of the sort. I guess what I’m trying to say is, don’t judge a book by its cover.
Not a fan of these guys to be honest. I feel as if they’re trying to capitalise off the image/mentality prior 80’s hair metal bands had.
That particular image was and will always be unique to the 1980’s. As awesome as it was, its a byproduct of a past era. Aside from nostalgia, I really don’t think the vibe can be truly replicated. It’s simply not original to create “Motley Crue 2.0”
Not that much. I’m 25. But up until around 23 the changes every year were so pronounced that maybe it does matter a bit.
I’d roast him on the non Skills of the drummer of that band first.
And no, there’s other standards for men. Tattoos on men if limited (not face or full body or just too many visible ones) then they are not a deciding factor.
Well I guess I’m saying, I can’t read every book so if I have to decide on one, I’ll look at the cover. The 50% of books around 21 years old that are left, I’ll take one of those.
There’s also many more red flags that a chick can have. You got to have standards for girls. Clear and strong excluding standards. Some of these will be insufficient signs but if they are right more than 50% of the time (like tattoos) and they usually have other confounding factors (smokes for example, doesn’t work out, takes drugs…) you throw them out. Works for me.
I think they are one of the most talented and funny bands ever. Also, they are in the age range (50s) which makes them having actually lived the 80s. Also the guitarist lived with Paul Gilbert shortly and lived in his house while he was on world tour in the early 90s.
I just think they are damn talented and funny. Also they parody the glam metal in a sincere manner, I think that’s awesome.
This is an excluding factor? What’s that… Like 90% of people your age…
Yes, probably.
Maybe I should clarify “excludes them for a long term relationship”
I don’t have many excluding factors. Then again I’m not interested in romantic relations, or even sexual relations for that matter (SSRI/SNRI mediated impotence and lack of desire). I’m just here to make friends
With that in mind, I only care as to whether an individual is morally sound. What you and I interpret as morally sound may differ. I don’t believe someone is a no good degenerate if they take a pill at a festival or have a few drinks too many on a weekend. If I did I’d be alienating myself from virtually the entire demographic of which I live around, not to mention I’d be a hypocrite.
I don’t think the aforementioned behaviour is conductive towards living a productive academic lifestyle. As a matter of fact I am of the opinion none of this shit would exist within a utopian/idealistic hypothetical. Then again I’d also dictate mental illness, psychopathy etc also wouldn’t exist. At the same time I believe given a realistic context is present there is a time and a place for hedonism. Most people relatively speaking can handle a little bit of vice/temptation without flying off the rails.
I focus on traits like the penchant one has for manipulating others for personal gain, whether one is comfortable lying casually, deviant conduct (violence, stealing and the likes) etc. If you’re friendly, of what I perceive to be reasonable and not a violent criminal… That’s good enough for me
If I ever get interested in dating again I presume I’ll create a new/different set of standards.
With friends there’s other standards but I try to keep the chicks that are around me as close to my standards as possible and I can say, I got a lot of great girls around me. It’s a difference if you want someone to just be fun to be around or if you want someone to be your partner through tough times and share your values.
Yes these people are immediately thrown out. But there’s a good correlation between some visible signs and character flaws. Watch out for them and you’ll see.
It’s intriguing you mention this. Character development over adolescence/young adulthood can shape ones personality/demeanour dramatically. What’s more environmental variables and neurobiological traits also factor in significantly.
My biggest percieved change regarding sociopolitical affiliation occured between the ages of 16-18. At which time I was FAR more conservative than I am now. I’d attribute this to taking literature at face value, a lack of situational awareness coupled with a lack of ability to adequately empathise and put myself into the shoes of others.
You mention smoking being an excluding factor, what about vaping? I’m only wondering because I’ve found it odd as to how smoking has fallen out of favour within my demographic, but around 80-90% (no joke) those who live within my place of residence own a vape containing nicotine. A significant portion of these individuals are nicotine deoendant
It’s almost as if tobacco cooperations have managed to swindle a new generation. I find this amusing, because eventually a significant portion of these kids graduate to smoking when they run out and can’t get a refill (vaping nicotine is illigal in Aus). It’s a back and fourth cycle.
Sometimes I wonder if the prevalence of vaping here sole to its illicit status.
What do you think about these characters? Should there be a niche/communities set up catering to these subtypes. Should the greater community be more tolerating of those who abide by differing ideals yet keep to themselves (I tend to harbour this belief).
The log-cabin/reclusive subtypes for example usually don’t bother anybody. How can you be a societal burden when you don’t interact with anyone to begin with?
For the neurodivergent subtypes (like meeeeeee), we tend to be good at maths/with numbers, abstract thinking and the likes. We tend to excel in certain fields (sciences, IT etc) and as a result can end up significantly contributing to society in a positive way.
Should specify I’m not a nihilist in the sense I believe the feelings of others/prospects people strive towards matter. I’ve previously specified I believe the universe is so vast/grand in scale that any possible impact we have, that anyone has had on society within the past present and future represents a mere speck (or even less) of what is and what will be. I stand by this belief, at the same time I believe this means we need to savour and appregiate what we have for life is short; this is probably the only shot we get.
As a result I’m not a nihilist, I believe in optimising quality of life for everyone. Society isn’t comprised of a uniform composition. What is “optimal” for person A may be the pits for person B. As a result I’d like to find a paradigm of which optimises quality of life for everyone aside from truly evil, abhorrent individuals.
A lot of people say this, but Metallica’s drumming works, and it works really well. Lars isn’t as technical as some (and he isn’t as good of a drummer as he used to be), but he is a good writer in regards to drums. Sometimes he just does like snare only simple fill, and it just works. Other drummers would have done something a lot more complicated, but I doubt it would have the same effect.
Additionally, the first time I heard double bass was in the song one. I was like why don’t all songs have double bass?
In regards to ladies with tats, some / most tats I have seen on women are not great, but some have really nice tats, and that is a turn on for me (not that it matters as I am married). Something about a bad girl that turns me on. I don’t know if you guys know Lana Del Rey. She kinda has that bad girl vibe going. She is smokin hot IMO. Her music is a guilty pleasure for sure.
With me it was exactly the opposite, I was liberal at 18-19 and turned conservative the years after that. Every year before 22 was a year of fundamental change. I guess that how growing up is.
I don’t know if you are talking to me here. Doesn’t seem to have anything to do with our convo.
I was just joking. He seems to write great songs
Yeah I know what you mean, but I wouldn’t consider these girls for a relationship.
And to Lana Del Rey music:
Gotdamn mnben hahaha, appreciate your honesty brother. I had to listen to all of her music several times in my life
What does this mean? You were forced to?
My girlfriend listens to her all the time. So yes very often.
I’ve found music to be subjective, so you may not like it. For me it is superior to most pop music.
