Well I thought he was walking off because he was going to kill himself. So he is getting his wish, just a slower more painful way.
Wait, why does he want to kill himself…because you think he was bitten (which I thought he might have been)? He and Sasha are an item now and he’s acting happy except for that last scene.
My assumption is that he was bitten… mainly because remember when he asked for one more kiss in the church? Something was strange about that. Then the fact he burst into tears before getting whacked in the head.

Is Bob the drunk who fucked over two other groups going to be playing the part of Dale and the Terminus survivors the parts of the hunters? Tainted meat anyone?
I’m sure he was tainted. I take it that is why he went out into the woods and was crying. I thought he was going to off himself.

SPOILERS…
It will be interesting to see how this turns out in the tv show. In the comics, the hunters didn’t know what they were up against with Rick and his people.
I still don’ t think they do … they only know that Rick and his group escaped with guns and an explosion happened. I’m sure they can put two and two together, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they know what Rick’s group is capable of.

Either way, this season’s off to a good start … 1st episode was great … 2nd episode really set up what could be two good story arcs … the “hunters” and Daryl and Carol go and look for Beth … should be an interesting 3rd episode
I had assumed Bob was bitten/scratched right after the stuff in the food pantry happened, just the way he was acting.

Since I’ve read the comics it all but confirmed it for me. I mean, the speech given to Bob was almost a direct quote from the hunters speech to Dale in the comics.
I thought the same thing, or assumed it had something to do with the wine and his alcohol issues. Does it make a difference if he was bit or not though? I mean would it taint the meat they ate from him? Because they all carry the virus whether or not their bit anyways, it just activates when they die.

Anyways I think this is a stretch but I have a feeling the cannibals might try to help them get to DC for hopes of a cure.

edit* just watched the season trailer on the first post again, I knew there was a reason I thought they were teaming up. Watch at 50 seconds in, also there is a scene that shows what ended up happening with Beth.
Well, assuming they follow the comic story line here, which I think they will, you never actually find out if eating tainted meat makes you die/turn faster, thanks to Rick and company intervening first.

As far as that trailer, that looks like a bunch of fancy editing, taking stuff from the Father Gabriel story arc, some of which we have seen, and laying it over the hunters story arc.

Who knows how long they will draw out the hunters story arc, but in the comics it was pretty short and the groups first direct interaction with them was also the last.
They have it coming.

I think you called it with editing. At least I hope so. Otherwise I can’t think of a way Rick and company let Gareth hang out.

Still…I don’t understand how people are still off doing there own thing. Now they’re gonna have to hunt down Carol and Daryl. And it seems they have learned nothing from what happened in Woodbury.
The writing seems to favor a selective forgetting of lessons. Carol used Zombie scent, for the fist time since season 1. It is shoddy but I am still watching.

So did bob know the cannibals from before or did I miss something?

I don’t think so. I can see how some people would say that, and Bob did have the “with two other groups before joining at the prison” back story, but I thought the way Gareth knew him was from Terminus/at the slaughter line.

At least that was how I saw it.

I thought the same thing. Between Rick’s group escaping terminus, and the fact Tyreese didn’t actually kill the guy he said he did (Bob sees him first when he wakes up), I’m sure the former terminus people figured out Rick and company were responsible for terminus’ demise.

Bob’s thirst for alcohol almost got himself and some of the others killed on multiple occasions. Therefore, he is a selfish asshole and I am glad they are eating him!

So harsh! You don’t think he changed for the better?

By the way, it doesn’t bother me that he is the one being eaten.

He does seem to have improved/been rehabbed, which is the show’s SOP for characters who are going to die.

He can’t possibly be as bad a Lori Grimes was for group safety. I think he really only had that one incident, where Daryl almost threw him into the walkers.

I admit the walker soup looked cool. Even if it was lunacy that they went down there the way they did.

Pretty happy they didn’t draw out the hunters story line for half a season. I hope they don’t rush the Beth abucution and rescue story line too much.

My prediction is two episodes.

Glen and Maggie looked a little put off by the hunter resolution.

I thought lightning was going to hit the church when Michonne got her sword back.

Gerreth and the Cannibals vs. Governor and citizens of Woodburry

Setting: Neutral ground; favors neither side.

Weapons: One tank per side, each member has a melee weapon and a gun of choice.

Numbers: let’s say 30 vs. 30

Discuss.

Well, the Governor’s crew used the tank poorly from a tactical perspective in the prison assault. However, they clearly knew how to use a tank so you’d have to give them the edge. Moreover, the Cannibals where essentially defeated by a well shot bottle rocket and then fooled by 7 people hiding in the bushes, perhaps showing signs of early stage Kuru.

I was very happy they killed the terminus people right away. And hopefully when they get Beth back they decide to catch up to the other group going to D.C

Atlanta to DC… Man, that’s a long distance - in a special-ed short bus.

Seems like it would take years (finding and gathering supplies and fuel, winter travel, fighting off dead and living, sickness, injury, etc).

Finding a pilot and a plane would seem a priority.

That’s true, but I still feel like there would be more safety with a bigger group and I would like being with a group that has a working vehicle as opposed to walking everywhere.

Oh yeah - I agree. Definitely strength in numbers, especially with people you trust. If anything I’d go for the idea of hope. Just saying it would be a brutal journey. The show is always better when they’re on the move so I hope they begin the journey in the next few episodes.

This show could go on for years with how many ways you could take it.

Terminus people, hands down. The Woodbury group, as a whole, was soft as baby shit. The only reason they gave Rick’s group so much trouble was because The Governor was hard as nails and Rick was even softer (at the beginnning) than they were. If “Throat-Biter” Rick had faced off against The Gov he would have torn him to pieces.

Big fan of the direction his character is heading. I watched the church massacre scene 3 times.

I am a big fan of the new series as a whole. The church massacre was a great scene and Rick and the group now realise they need to be ruthless to survive. Woodbury would have gone in 2 episodes if they were like that from the beginning. Doesn’t mean they need to be evil, but they should never have let the Terminus people go in the first place.

Yep, the original Woodbury group that led the initial assault on the prison ran and were killed by the Gov for being such pussies.

I don’t think even the 2nd group led by the Gov would stand a chance against the terminus people on a head on attack, the terminus people seem to have much better tactical skills, at least on their home turf.

However, I could see the Gov joining the terminus people, deceiving them, then tearing them apart from inside by killing their leadership after getting in their inner circle (like he did with Martinez).
