The Walking Dead Season 2

Perhaps already discussed, but the officer’s weapon, a Colt Python .357 would be my choice for a zombie weapon:

 1. It’s a revolver, and thus extremely reliable and safe

 2. It’s a .357, thus a cannon, but also able to shoot .38s, which is the most plentiful caliber round in the USA, and easily re-loaded. (People wondering where he go more rounds — this is your answer.)

 3. As a revolver, you don’t lose your shells, so, assuming you know how to reload, a great choice with limited resources

 4. The Colt Python itself is easily the most accurate .357 ever made, with a great reputation as an easy to handle weapon.

 5. The nickle or stainless (can’t tell) version of the Python is even lower-care than a blued weapon.
You do not need a large caliber to shoot zombies in the head. You need the ability to consistently put accurate rounds downrange. Revolvers are a bitch to reload and a 6 shot capacity sucks balls.

Your point about the availability of ammo and the versatility of being able to shoot two different calibers (I didn’t know that) is sound though.
And if you ever do happen to come across human bandits or whatever… Especially ones trained properly in the use of firearms in combat… Then a revolver is the last kind of gun you want to face them with.
Let Dirty Harry pull shit like that, he can afford to… He’s not real.

Sorry but if we are talking only head shots will kill… I want something bigger than a .22

Hell a 9mm with the keltec would be nice. A combo deal.

Still want a 45 or 10mm as a side option if not first. But for the 10mm ammo is a long shot.

Lol, being from the UK, I’d be in a tight spot, as firearms are not very common over here.
and even if I was lucky enough to have a firearm, I wouldnt use it unless absolutely neccessary.
so close quarters weapons would be a priority.

If outside and I had to fight I’d go so far as to thinking about making a spear, nothing fancny, just something pointy on the end of a sturdy stick I could ram into a Zombies face from a distance. Wouldn’t want to risk getting too close now would I

Off the topic of plot development. Why is it that zombies can munch you to fucking bits? I mean shit, if I tried to bite someone it would take some work before anything meaningful in a cannibalistic sense occurred. Yet those motherfuckers seem like they have ginsu knives in their mouth.

How is that so?

And secondly, even if they do bite so hard for whatever reason, what if someone had a shit ton of kevlar? Shane and Rick could have had access to that at the police station, and I am sure most of the military personell would have. Kevlar head to to, and all you gotta worry about is your face and neck area…

Maybe this was covered before though.
They’d just pile on you and then what?

Ok, let’s assume you’re waering a blast suit that covers everything (any ballistic type body armor would be easy to defeat by biting you in the face or other parts not covered in trauma plates or multiple kevlar layers)… First off, they restrict your mobility big time… Your periferal vision and hearing goes… You’ll get so fucking hot after an hour of walking (much less fighting) in that thing you’d have to stop and get out (there are cooling systems, but yeah, that means more maintenance and additional weak areas)…

Doesn’t work. Plus the zombies piling on you would eventually crush your or asphyxiate or starve you / kill you from thirst (if they can’t get to you through the armor, and they should be able to because obviously other people can help you out of it, so it’s possible to take it apart from the outside).

Just not very practical overall… Mobility still works better. Wearing some light material resistant to edged weaponry and covering most of you (preferably including the neck) would probably be best, but I can’t think of anything that really fits and doesn’t give you trouble with heat/sweat.

Full body biker gear.

You are welcome.

They get riot suits later in the comic series. They’re basically suits of armor that make them invulnerable to zombies.

Setting a head on fire will destroy the brain.

You CAN burn a zombie. That’s how they exterminated them in night of the living dead…the one with the redhead zombie chick.

A fire wall would be a good way too stop a swarm as long as you aren’t planning on advancing to that area.

They ain’t walking through fire…gooey or not.

One, watermelon, banana, or sour apple?

Two, consider adding this:

plus a couple glock 17 mags, or one or two of the 33 rounders. It would let you run 9mm through your pistol with just a barrel and mag swap. You may want a recoil spring as well. Then you can use even more common ammo in a pinch. Also, if the dead don’t rise 9mm is pretty cheap.

Finally; I also would not want to rely on a 22. I must admit that a 10/22 and couple magazines, and a $16 bulk pack of ammo would have made the above scene turn out different.

Robert A

You guys should like this if you haven’t seen it.

.22 lr is more than powerful enough to punch through a human skull inside 50 yards. I admit it would totally suck balls to have a round ricochet off some especially thick-skulled zombie’s forehead in the middle of a close quarters fight, but that’s a (very minimal) chance I’d be willing to take.

My primary weapon:

My secondary weapon:

You can buy both guns with factory threaded barrels and there are companies who make suppressors that will fit both. You could easily carry 5000 rounds in a backpack without sacrificing too much space for other gear, plus .22 would be one of the most common rounds you would scavenge in homes and stores. Above that though is the stealth factor. You could pop a zombie with the silenced Ruger and his buddy 5 feet away wouldn’t notice.

The only problem with a .22 is, in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, asshole humans are just as big a threat as the zombies. Somebody in my group would have to be carrying something heavier in case we ran into some dickheads.

Melee weapon would be a blunt object, baseball bat probably.

I own a S&W 15/22 most fun I have shooting 200 rounds for under 30 bucks. And a .22 can kill 60 years of Mob hits can’t be wrong just not sure I’m trusting my life with it when the numbers go from 5 in a room to 25 on a city block.

Nice set up though. Nice

Finally got all caught up with this season. I had DVR’d all the episodes while I was still trying to fly through Season 1 on Netflix. Show is awesome, and this thread has pointed out a LOT of things that get missed when you watch it.

I agree with four60 in that while a .22 would be effective, I’m not sure that would be my round of choice. I would just feel better with something with some more kick to it. I’d also want to take a stand on a tree or building with a huge bundle of arrows and start spearing those fuckers.

Zombie-kabobs FTW!
