I loved the episode, and I’m glad we’re finally starting to see the characters morph a little. I was really sick of all that whiny bullshit. Personally, I like Shane the most of any character…I love those good/bad characters.

I still don’t like the wife but it’s her personality that irritates me. More realistically she would have come clean about the relationship with Shane but that would kill the tension in the show.

Shane: He’s done plenty wrong, but he does what must be done to keep the group alive. Both he and Rick are
willing to get dirty, but Shane will go farther.
The Redneck with the Crossbow: Good character, will probably die because he’s wasting his time looking for that woman’s daughter
Black Guy: Needs to learn some survival skills soon or he’ll die.
Old Man: His only flaw is that he’s old.
The women in Rick’s Crew: useless
The women at the farm: Skilled and will survive!

I really thought he was going to be a throw away character. Racist redneck meets a rough death, pretty much a “safe” way to get some gore on the screen. A contrast to the comics which will kill anybody, man, woman, or child.
