Maybe I’m in the minority but I actually really like Shane. He seems like one of those guys who would genuinely get this far in a zombie apocalypse. I hate it when people get all pissy and whiney when some character offs another one in order to survive. A zombie apocalypse is the prime example of ‘survival of the fittest’. Sure it sucks, but if you don’t alter your morals and take on a ‘he who is strongest, wins’ mentality, no one will survive.

SPOILER ALERT

Shane did the right thing. I know it sounds horrible, but what he really did was necessary for not only his own survival, but potentially that of the entire group. The kid’s survival or death would have a massive effect on the morale of the group, thus it was very important for Shane to get the equipment back so the kid would have a fighting chance to survive.

Think about what Shane did as kind of like sacrificing a chess piece in order to gain a position. If he wouldn’t have left Otis to die, they would most likely both have been eaten. Due to the fact that the kid would not have gotten the medical equipment, he would have most likely died. Now in this scenario we have two apt gunmen gone, the kid gone, and a massive blow to the group’s morale. Knowing this, being in the same situation which choice would you have really made?

Ok so Shane probably didn’t think of all that through during those frantic moments, lol. But he acted from survival instinct and knew that in order to make the best of the situation and save his own ass, he did what needed to be done.

Or maybe everything I’ve written in this post is rationalization at it’s finest and I’m just a rotten asshole, lol.

really good episode. I’ve liked them all so far but last nights episode was legit. I’m pretty pissed off that I didnt learn more about the friggin house and whats going on with that whole situation but that’ll probably play out in the next few episodes.
