We reap what we sow. And it goes beyond the military as a fat population is a physically, and even psychologically, sick population that will be a financial drain on society.

Good article. If you train, I am sure you have seen this typical problem.
Thought for the day:
I am Lakota, and was talking to another Lakota man recently. He was a professional boxer and now runs a large community garden and trains young boxers, so has kept himself in shape over the years.
The relatively-recent introduction of starchy foods and sugar into the diets for the tribes has led to pretty high rates of diabetes and other health conditions, and this guy was talking about the state of health he sees in his community. He said it wasn’t all that long ago that the Lakota (and a couple other tribes) were causing one of the U.S.’s greatest defeats. Now, “our warriors have gotten soft.” Getting “soft” and losing the ability to be warriors has had all sorts of negative implications for the communities these men live in.
I think they mean me…
Many years ago I trained regularly and even though I haven’t had any sort of fight in 5 years (which didn’t go great) I still thought I was invincible. I recently started training at a “martial arts” gym, BJJ, MMA etc and quickly discovered how out of shape I am compared to many others but even though many are really good they don’t “think” like a street fighter even when discussing “what they’d do” in a situation.
One good one was “I’d take them to the ground and submit them”, I said " that’s when their friend kicks you in the head".
“Oh, I wouldn’t fight anyone who had their friends there”.
“Um, you may not get a choice?”
I find it especially interesting when people offer self defense lessons but have never had a situation they really feared for their safety, or if they have been in something it’s been when they were highly trained so had a better chance but are now teaching people who don’t have those attributes but not really understanding that.
I would also say this is the main problem with the general US population. I think overall, we have lost the “ability to be warriors”. Any historical account of the combat taken place in WW2, will make this “current society” , puxxxies. IMHO.
I have observed this especially in classes only for women. Most appear based on some movie fantasies.

All my respect. A man needs to know his limitations and unless it was a life and death situation, there is no way I could live this life:)))

Yeh oh hell no way. Only if it was to save someone I loved, and afterwards I might not like em as much!
Sailors who do sub duty are a special breed almost a different genus in ways, definitely a special group. God Bless Em !

Something different this morning. If you live in the North East, you should try to visit this unique museum, and if you do, let me know what it was like.
ISO Info on security/general safety training resources for a church safety team.
We will be responding to first aid/cpr/AED, fire, bomb threats, intruders, and anything else that affects health safety and security. For things like fire that’s only the Evac & extinguisher basic stuff.
The team for armed response I’ve not yet determined the who, quails required yet.
Also it is not a team under my charge - I’m a member, although part of leadership I’ll be expected to take charge in a situation when present.
Thx for any input men!

Hi. I wanted to share part of the safety stuff we’re doing at my church as the team is finally formed.
Team members trained and functioning as ushers stand at the door to greet and screen for potential problems. We also note medical issues, mobility problems etc., communicated OTA.
We will also have members with radios stationed among the pews to both monitor there and to provide for a faster response to anything needed.
So far so good
