I didn’t even think about you being On Duty the shoot out. That’s like a whole different situation. I guess Get a Tag Number and Call the Police work for everybody though.

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”

It just puts it into perspective, right? You never think that something like that can happen so close to where you are and to hear that story so graphically and to know that happened literally less than a mile away, that is very disturbing,” the neighbor said.
“I never thought something like this would happen here”. I have heard and read this type of comment so many times. Violence knows no limits, doesn’t follow maps and there is certainly no “safe zones”. Be aware everywhere.

Happy Birthday Marines! Thank you for 247 years of service to our country. Total Respect.
This must be an omen…
Just glanced at my copy in the bookcase about 2 hours ago and thought I haven’t read it in a while.
Glad your road rage story had a positive ending…
Of course, some idiot DA will probably let psycho back out on the street.
Thanks for keeping this thread going. It’s my first stop on my monthly check-in.
Thank you, I hope you and your father are doing well.

Veteran’s Day. Honor those who served.

I spent CAD $4 on a Remembrance Day poppy the other day. I have been wearing it.
My Dad way back when got as a gift the Time/Life picture history of WW2. Many of the pictures show the pain and anguish people felt, although I realize that it still isn’t the same as experiencing it oneself.

Know the difference in your training:
A drill - is an exercise of component skills under specified and controlled conditions for the purpose of quantification, evaluation and subsequent refinement.
scenario - is a story you are inserted into and evaluated based on your ability to successfully solve the problem using your judgement and existing skills and equipment.
Thought for the day:

We are often so hard on ourselves for what we perceive as massive failures. Seneca once said “we are often more frightened than hurt, we often suffer more in imagination than reality.” That’s the truth, we do often suffer more in our own minds than what the material world throws at us, and so our failures, however objectively small and irrelevant, are massive in our own minds. The mind, is certainly a more harsh place and often makes us suffer worse that we really should. But why? Mostly because we have become hostile to ourselves because we often face harshness from others, especially here on social media. Certainly you should always strive for excellence and bettering yourself, but not to the point where failure leads to self destruction. You have to begin to be a friend to yourself, this starts with accepting what’s within your control and rejecting what isn’t. Your thoughts, emotions and actions are all in your control, but the outcome never is. The Stoics teach us to be indifferent to outcome, take joy in things that work out as planned, but to accept what doesn’t as a gift in adversity, and to see failure as a chance to strengthen your character, resolve and resilience. That is the first step in being a freind to yourself.
For today, evaluate what you see as failure, evaluate your actions in response and ask yourself is you are worthy of good things that can come from it? Are you worthy of a better character? Worthy of the strength you can gain from it? Or do you wallow in self pity, doubt and loathing of yourself? Finally, remember these words by Marcus Aurelius: “Here is a rule to remember in future, when anything tempts you to feel bitter: not “This is misfortune,” but “To bear this worthily is good fortune.”
In a tactical sense; let the training scars make you a better operator. You can critique yourself and your action, but never self destruct, that’s not the Grayman way, that’s not the philosophical way. Remember, the virtue of justice (how one treats others) applies to how you treat yourself.
Tony Blauer.

The greatest victory is that which requires no battle.”

“Far outpacing general violent crime.” That’s concerning AF, almost as if it’s a ‘movement’.
Whatever happened to the police coming to a grade school and starting right then explaining why the police are our friends?
It’s as if a whole generation didn’t get that message.
Thought for the day:
“No technique is truly useful until you have tested it against a fully resistant opponent. There are lots of martial arts in the world some of them sell snake oil. There isn’t an easy button, and easy technique, or some MindMeld that enables you to stay alive. The technique hast to stand up against a fully resistant opponent, and you have to be able to train it”.
