I like the idea of a total rep challenge but some 1 who knew they cud do 20 pull ups and 50 dips may only do 1 bench rep.

i think it could be a little biased
thats why its “Max Reps”

The video will show weather or not the person is really going max reps or not.
ah yeah overlooked that, the judge can eliminate ppl if he wants etc.

Still no word from the mods about prizes!

To an extent, sure. But with that same train of thought, isn’t there already a Training Log (or Conditioning/Strongman/Powerlifting) section to see who’s currently stronger than who? I understood the idea to be having it all in one place for comparison.
Marzouk wrote:

Yeah, um, that “some1” was me, actually.

That could be your thing, which is fine by me, man. But I never said anything about people in underwear.

Fair enough. Though it absolutely takes determination and perseverance to build muscle and drop fat. Also, if you’re actually trying to get this recognized with prizes by the higher-ups, I’m not sure why they’d be interested in “sponsoring” contests of strength and/or conditioning when, as I mentioned, that’s never been the driving force behind T-Nation.

Again, I never said anything about this. There’s quite a distinction between competitive bodybuilding and “recreational bodybuilding” or whatever the majority of people on here do. But the line that separates those two is a gigantic can of worms that can fill an entire thread all by itself.
Again all good points. Carry on

Maybe put down what you do mean?

How would it work, what it consist of? timeline? etc

I’ll bring the moose meat if you bring the elk!!!

You could choose a single challenge and crown a “king” for each challenge. The party would hold the “T-Nation” record for X Event under appropriate judging or criteria. It would be like the old Louie Simmons record board for gym records. Top 3 guys get their “name on the wall” for whatever. The possibilities could be endless. Everything from bodyweight bench press reps to pulls up and everything in between.

See if you could get TNation to gift something to anyone that makes a top 3 result.

Now this would be “fair” under any measure, excluding of course - “but my arms look better than yours” And yes, as someone pointed out, there IS a physique improvement forum.

Just for starters:

Pull ups for reps (straight bar, rings)
Chin ups for reps
Pull ups for weight
Chin ups for weight
Muscle ups
Dips for reps (parallel bar or rings)
Dips for weight
Bodyweight bench press for reps (various grips)
Bwt. squat for reps (or 1.5 bwt.)
Deadlift for reps (bwt or 1.5)

Etc etc etc.

“Crowning” 3 top performers would give some guys around here some incentive to try to top it. And the beauty of “one lift” or “movement” is that guys don’t have to change their training too much to accommodate a challenge that has more than one element of strength or endurance. In other words, with some minor adjustments to your training, you could decide to attempt to “make the board”. Or, you can go all out if you so desire and specialize. Either way, it includes MORE potential members, instead of excluding those that don’t want to really change their training too much.

Just a thought.

Again, seriously? Would you care to audit the article content on this web site? Just looking at the last 15 articles here and you’ll see them heavily skewed and it’s not toward physique enhancement.

Ha, no way I’m getting drawn into this much more.

But, if it were up to me, Challenge #1 would be:

 • Post a picture of yourself, wearing pants or shorts and a t-shirt or tank top. Optional for no bonus points whatsoever: No shirt.

Full body (head to toe) visible, face and recognizable tattoos Photoshopped (blurred/crossed out, not retouched) if necessary. Flexing or posing is entirely unnecessary. The photo must be taken between October 1 and October 14 (yes, 2011).

Entries to be completed/posted no later than Friday, Oct 14.

Like Beans was talking about, starting small. Plus, it’s something everyone can enter and everyone can win. Just like Little League. Yay.

But yeah, I’m probably gonna tap out of this thread now. Good luck if you get it going.

I definitely think that “who is the top 3 at X around here” in infinitely more appealing and more likely to stir competition than any combination of more than one movement. You pare this down to some top movements and I’d bet it has potential. But “the board” would have to be prominent and there’d have to be some good natured shit talking. In other words, you’d need competition and people giving a fuck. Bragging rights, a bit of a spotlight and maybe some free goodies from T-Nation…or at least a T-Nation t-shirt commemorating the feat.

Really guys? Really?

lets leave for another thread?

Lol

Okay so we go with 16 oz rib eye, 16 oz Tbone, 16 oz sirloin and 16 oz porter house
with a fully loaded tater, one glass of tea and one beer

Is moose REALLY that good? I’ve heard it’s the best game meat there is. Never had it. I could bring the wildebeest/kudu/impala/zebra/anything else South Africa has to offer next time I’m there.

Also, how come every hunting thread that’s been put up here is closed? Do I really need to start another one?

i’m liking it more and more.

all the shit talking that people do, a place for people to their money where their mouth is would be perfect. Friendly competition between people would make things a lot more interesting around here.
