unequipped 2x bwt bench presses are going to be pretty rare around here. and someone that can rep 250 for 40-50 reps rarer still.

No way in hell anyone posting on this board can bench 250lbs for 50 legit reps. Not happening.
x2 i’d be shocked if anyone can hit 20
I don’t know if I could do 50 “legit” reps with 135. But I’ve got 225 for 29, and there’s a lot stronger dudes on here than me.
yeah, there are stronger guys, but keep your perspective. 29 puts you in the upper echelon of the nfl combine bench test. not shabby company considering there are some big boys, in their prime.
The record at the NFL combine is 49 with 225… No way someone here is doing an extra rep with 25 more pounds on the bar. Not happening.

This had potential to be something fun but I should have known the thread would turn out this way and that it wouldn’t work out. Oh well
Greg its the internet and like BG said people are going to put up what they are good at.

This is why there competitions in RL, strongman, PL and Xfit.

My advice, go do meets PL, Strongman or XFit, get your SO or Bro to record it then post that shit on here.

Everything other than this would almost impossible.

Unfortunately I can’t run a 40 under 5.1 seconds, among other things.

Anyways I think it’s doable. NFL guys do not train for the bench press specifically, like a lot of guys here do. I know 1RM calculators are inexact at best, but just take a look:

225x29= 1RM estimate of 442 (I really estimate my max about 50 pounds lower than that, chalk it up to losing some form over those 29 reps)

225x49= 1RM estimate of 592

250x50= 1RM estimate of 667 (take off a similar percentage as my first example, and you have something in the high 500’s)

Again, comparing 29-50 reps with a 1RM is a bit of a stretch, but doesn’t it show that its feasible? Plus why would Meat lie/exaggerate, he’s already got vids of being a benching monster

this is 100% incorrect. NFL hopefuls spend months training for the combine. They work on every drill that they’re going to be put through (225 bench is one of the most looked at “tests” depending on your position) and they train the shit out of it.

I spent some time at API down in Florida and they were training a few guys for the combine when I was there and they most certainly do train the Benchpress.

Okay, make one of the challenges “50 Rep Bench”

Whoever does it with the most weight % of BW wins…

I bet there are a ton of people here that couldnt even do 50 good pushups in a row lol

I’d run out of breathe on either, lol. My conditioning sucks huge balls.

hahaha.

it sounds like an easy task but I would imagine that most would struggle with 50 push ups in a row while touching your chest to the ground and going to full lock out.

If you are used to doing triples and maybe sets of 10 at the most, you lock up pretty damn quick. No matter what the weight is, take my word for it.

No offense Greg, but I think you are underestimating things a little bit here.

I bet you would be surprise man… I bet we wont get many who would admit it but I’m sure quite a few people will try it and fail (not that there is necessarily anything wrong with that)

I didn’t say they don’t train the bench. I said they don’t train specifically for it. As in competing in bench press specifically, stand alone. Sure most of em take time to work on it to get a good combine showing, but it’s only supplemental. There’s top 1-3 round lineman that get far les reps than me, and I’m not even close to an elite bencher, is my point.

All attempts to prevent shitstorm failed miserabley. Maybe it’l pick up if some1 posts a video of an attempt.

I might have to do this on sunday in the gym.

I’l post bench and dl attempts. My squat sucks bigger balls the Beans’ conditioning.

I’m going to post videos of the challenges posted. my bw is 225 for reference.

Any body wana challenge me? bring it on.

Being as it was me who started this shit i might as well be the first to step up to the plate.

Because you shot your wad like a highschool freshman, premature.

There is no

 1. agreed upon structure
 2. plan beyond “fuck it, lets see if the shit I throw against the wall sticks”
 3. significant interest because of 1 & 2
 4. variation

You should have kept hashing the ground rules and structure out, like TBG & others were trying to do, before starting it.

What you should be doing:

 1. Consolidating everyone’s input into a post
 2. Read feedback
 3. consolidate feedback into plan, post new version
 4. read feedback
 5. consolidate feedback into plan, post new version

repeat until structure and plan are in place.

No offence, but you listen like shit dude.

pardon any spelling, I’m rushing out the door.

I don’t doubt for a second that meat could do it.

And the way I see this whole challenge thing:
There’s powerlifting
There’s crossfit
This should be something different. Not singles. Not endless reps with 135 or BW. Heavy weights for reps. Weights that crossfitters can’t lift. Meat weights. Alpha weights. H4M weights.

2xBW squat for the highest reps, or the most reps with 315 or 405 or something
Same or 405-495 with deadlift
Whatever you want on bench, I’m not strong enough to play there anyway. Even something as “light” as BW for max reps could still be fun to watch.

The problem is, not everyone is Alpha or H4M. 90% of guys on this site cant squat 405 or Dl 495.

So why set a challenge that so few would even attempt? Thats just dumb. If i wanted to see really strogn guys lift really heavy weights. i’d just go to youtube.

You know what was a cool thread? Stallion’s Squat Thread.

He made his challenge very simple: 1 lift-- Squat.

He laid down the rules: As much weight as you can, 20 reps, raw (maybe belt I think).

Post video.

No opinions, no ‘rules by committee’, no arguing, no clusterfuck. He said “Here’s the rules, either accept or don’t.-- Good luck!”

A bunch of people accepted the challenge.

Great thread.

OP- Reboot.

Should I start a new thread? I make a living out of ‘cutting through bullshit’.

Fine, do whatever you want. But I’m only interested in the 10% that can do these things. Those who aren’t there have some work to do.

Steely’s idea is good though.

For the fuck of it Greg, about four years ago I started doing PU’s everyday to build up to a max in one minute. After about two weeks I went well past 50 in under a minute. It is hard at first but you build up stamina pretty quick. Skinny fuckers like me have an easier time though.
