The T-Beasts Thread

Here’s my Aussie, Raleigh. He’s so calm & centered for an Australian Shepherd that we call him the Raleigh Lama.

I really feel for you - he looked exactly like my cat did, who died last year from the same thing.

This was Fluffy, she was full grown in this pic and the same age as my cat above. She died of feline aids…

Thank you, I really appreciate it. Seeing the pictures of everyone’s beautiful pets has been really cathartic. It’s still pretty raw knowing that Manny’s gone, but it’s getting better.

What was your cat’s name?

This is a picture of Manny as a kitten (I wish I had more of an adult Manny, but he spent a lot more time outside when he was older and I couldn’t get good pictures of him), and Mr. Blackie from 2005. Manny just loved Mr. Blackie, but Blackie went on home himself in December of 2005.

Here’s another of Blackie lounging under the car in our garage at sunset.

The first one was Joe, after my neighbour who’d bring home a new woman every couple of weeks.

It’s funny, cat’s can actually be a lot like dogs too - I used to play with them both in the garden for hours, and they’d sit there afterwards panting like dogs with their tongues out.

My dog died over 3 years ago now, she was about 13 and had just about anything bad a dog could get (breast cancer, weak heart, etc).

Greatest pic ever!

On another note, am I the only guy in the world who likes lap dogs? I can’t get enough of terriers and shi tzus. As long as they don’t look like the regal dogs.[/quote]

who says magnus’s dogs aren’t lapdogs? lol I have three female ‘puppies’ now, two labs, one chocolate and one yellow, and a boxer. the labs are 10 months old, the chocolate weighs around 60ish, and my yellow one is a blockhead that weighs near 80 already. the boxer is pretty petite, but we got her when she was six months old and really wormy, and has some other health problem that we haven’t figured out yet.

but alas i have two ‘miniature lap dogs’ a 14 year old shitzu and an adorable chihuahua-dachshund mix.

yellow lab- jane. this is after a recent storm where all three of the big girls got to play in the mud

the reverse brindle boxer- her name is mya. also after the storm

a pic of the two lab sisters, the chocolate is sadie, when they were much much smaller

and me and the chocolate after a long day of work in the yard. (note, i have since cut my hair)

the only pic i have on my laptop of one of the many smaller birds we have. we have had up to 30 at one time, but many are starting to pass of old age. we never bought but one cockatiel, and one quaker parrot, and many of the parakeets. we at the moment have this sun conure, 4 quakers, around 8 cockatiels and 8 parakeets. we have brought many of the birds in from people who simply did not want them anymore or know how to take care of them. we have even built our own aviary in our garage for the cockatiels.

one of our quakers is a product of the breeding pair that we have received. we allowed them to breed several times, but the stress was beginning to be too much, and they weren’t that great of parents(even though we pulled the babies at three weeks to feed) its so amazing to see such tiny birds grow so quick.
another quaker of ours just passed. he was a really special one, we called him chance.

he was in a pet store that had a snake get out and eat his mate in the middle of the night, and the snake was stuck in there with him the entire night. he was highly tramautized and became rather aggressive. the pet store owners stopped taking care of him, other than feeding and watering. he plucked every feather he could reach out, and had a cesspool of bacteria growing in his cage, they refused to clean it out.
we contacted the local humane society, and there was nothing legal that can be done since in arkansas animal cruelty legislation does not apply to birds.

since no legal action could take place, we bought the bird, and then launched a smear campaign at them. we told everyone we saw that would listen what a horrible condition he and other birds at the store were in. (they would have as many as 40-50 parakeets stuffed inside the smallest cage they will even sale for parakeets, that can comfortably fit maybe 3.)

the humane society was constantly breathing down there necks, and another local pet store allowed us to tell anyone that would listen that was in there about the store.
within 3 months of us rescuing chance, the store was closed

chance was in bad shape though, and nearly starved himself. however, we nurtured him back feeding him peanut butter, and he slowly but surely regained his health. we never fully stopped him from plucking, but definitely halted it. he lived out another 7 years, until just recently when he passed away.

sry for the long post, but i get wound up talking about my animals. i’m in pre-veterinary right now, and after getting my degree(which will be a biology major wiht empahasis on vertebrates) am planning on continuing my education in a veterinary school, and after that opening a combined animal shelter and veterinary office.

heres the picture i have, of a sun conure.

Here’s my Maggie with my niece looking for food. I got her off a craigslist for free from this abusive guy who wanted to breed her. Even though she’s a purebred Weim she’s not good for breeding so the owner kept her leashed on a tree.

When I got there she just gave me a “take me home look”, so I did I figured worse case I have her spated and can give her to someone else in case it didn’t work out. Maggie is a loving dog but a velcro one she has to be with me all the time or she get’s anxious. I took my mom shopping last week and when I got home she skidded out the door to greet me

another looking for food

and one sunning herslef the other day

aww i love weimaraners. they just seem so much like labs to me, and are a beautiful breed.

She’s pretty but she’s clumsy. The guy who I got her from called her princess but when she would trip on her own feet I looked at her and said “you aren’t a princess, you’re a Maggie” So she’s Maggie

My roommate called me one night asking if I could come pick him up off the side of the road. His wheel had blown out. At some point this kitten came up and started playing with him. We took the kitty home with us because there was nothing around. I don’t know how he got out there and when I went back the next day I didn’t see any houses in the area so I decided to keep him. Thought it would be better than just dropping him off in the woods. I’m sorry if I took your kitty, but he’s got a good home!
