The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 2)

Business wise, I know I’m shooting myself in the foot, but I think more people knowing how to cook and less restaurants would be better for society.

I agree, but I’m not sure that solves the apparent problem of grocery stores stocking “way too much food.”

The market is. people like to see overstocked shelves. Gives the appearance of surplus and causes people to in general buy more than necessary.

You can’t tell me you’re okay with throwing out perfectly good food when a huge amount of kids in the U.S. go hungry. In my county alone, 4/10 kids get free lunch and I know that for portion of them that is the only meal they get. And it’s what the school deems “healthy and balanced”…

I was thinking increased turnover, FIFO, ect would make a difference.

That doesn’t seem reasonable, so I can believe one of two things:
A. Excess food is thrown away because of greedy big business.
B. There is some incentive to throw food away instead of permitting people to take it for free(or there is something disincentivizing this).

Maybe Scrooge McDuck is running the show, but my money is on B. I would get rid of whatever that is and let the problem take care of itself.

I think A is much more likely.

Giving food away for free (expanding the supply) instead of throwing it out would lead to lower food prices.

Why buy an expensive steak if you can just get an almost out of date one for free?

Throwing the food away maintains high prices. Greedy business fat cats make more profit when prices are high.

That’s the incentive.

Like I said earlier, fear of lawsuits over someone claiming that it made them sick. In culinary school and restaurants we couldn’t even donate unused food to the local firehouse for fear of litigation.

And if you let employees take home incorrectly prepared food, the rate of incorrectly prepared foods skyrockets, so not allowing them to take home mistakes decreases shrink. Even though it wastes more food.

 Patronizing racist lefty speaking to other patronizing racist leftys.

Dat’s some funny stuff. I remember video of Bush I going to a grocery store being amazed by scanners - they had been around for ten years or more.

Lifetime politicians are clearly out of touch.

Long talk with my son tonight, he is so thoughtful it shames me. Hamas, Palestine, Capitalism, Second Amendment, chord progressions in music, music in movies, developing tension in literature, horror versus terror in lit, just blown away.

His friend group are all on the same page.

I think we might be in good hands moving forward.

By far the most annoying thing about leftists and some liberals is a complete and utter lack of ANY self-awareness. Like zero. Bizarre

All she had to do was tell her constituents she was going to spend a bunch of money.

But Nooooo! She had to try to tug at the heart strings. Not just any heart strings either. The Black Children heart strings.

The police already hate her, and have publicly endorsed the Orange Man. If the black people break camp New York is gonna turn Red!

They definitely pander… if you’re dim witted enough to buy into then fuck you. The hood has been in shambles for decades despite all the pandering, empty promises, etc, yet these retards keep voting them in. Guess it isn’t that bad

From what I have read in this thread lately, A and B seem to work together. There is a level of risk in being sued. That risk is not being taken, because from a greedy business sense, it makes no sense. Maybe there should be no risk.

But there is. People would risk getting sick. There should be a balance.
(there is a balance btw)

A and B need to be written separately because we can only write one word at a time, but I don’t feel obligated to believe in one to the exclusion of the other… actually, I feel obligated not to

I agree, decreasing the risk of greedy big businesses getting sued would allow them to give more food at less risk, making it less unappealing. You can’t outlaw greed, so you might as well work with it and mitigate its effects.

Greedy is probably not the best word to describe big businesses giving away not enough free food that they paid for, but hey, it was kinda fun to write

Republicans (the party of small government, of course) can’t keep from being stupid for some reason. Just be reasonable and don’t start doing things the left can compare to the Handmaid’s Tale.

There is no difference between the two parties

One is gay and racist

The other one is white and racist

And that makes you a racist

My six-year old has spent the last 30 minutes yelling at me that minus one plus one equals ten.

I said it was zero.

Finally he told me he was starting at 10.

I’m not sure who was the stupid one here.
