The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 2)

LOL.

If anyone were to ask my opinion, I would tell them to keep their kids as far away from the “elite” Ivy League schools as they can. Unless you’re truly an outlier in intelligence (but who isn’t these days though…), it’ll just make you stupid.

Have you ever enrolled into an Ivy League school before?

I have.

If a 20 year old boy can identify as Princess Sparklefarts, then my community college was Ivy League.

Huh?

And graduated.

I’m a 60 year old, old fart. Unlike today’s social media experts, I don’t give opinions on something based on tik tok/onlyfans/reddit hearsay.

That one princess in the Mario Bros. games. When you hit the button to make her fly, she sparklefarts.

Did your experience at your school help you in your career/business endeavors?

The resources, networking, professors etc. did any of that benefit you as a student?

What started as a good effort (ban a Chinese data mining tool) has now turned into more government power over what one can/cannot consume:

Tulsi talks about the restrict act which makes it illegal to use TikTok among other things - like our government data mining, making VPNs illegal (this should scare everyone)

@Bauber I don’t read legalese but it seems to me that this gives the government access to review without warrant or anything stuff like anything stored via even secured cloud storage services like AWS and iCloud.

This shit is getting scary. Bipartisan bill disguised as something useful that really only consolidated power into the federal level.

LOL. No.

Of course.

I was disgusted and ashamed to see Mark Warner’s name on this bill.

As much as all these folks rave against the “surveillance state” they sure are pushing forward into it.

They freakin aikido’d us with our own self righteous indignation!

Them: “lets collect data with stupid dance app!”

Us: “furkin commies! Lets strangle ourselves and make our internet more like theirs. That’ll learn 'em!”

Our gov: “Yes. Lets…”

Them: " "

The only folks raving against anything are not “pushing forward into it.”

They already had access and were already viewing it without authorization a la Stellar Winds (the irony is when you search for it through google, it tries to change the search.

Edward Snowden re-discovered it was still active, so he leaked it. The US canceled his citizenship while he was in Russia, where he lived in an airport for a while until local authorities figured something out.
Imagine being a political asylee in RUSSIA ffs.

I agree though, that this bill should not go through, i just think that it changes nothing tbh.

Yes, but let us all be honest.

They have been doing this secretly for decades this is literally just them admitting it or about to get caught and now making it legal.

Nothing to see here. Hey ignorant sheep look Trump is getting arrested! Don’t look over here.

I’ve believed this to be the sole reason behind folks like AOC and MTG getting elected.

“look at these looney bins, they’re crazy - right?”

Trying to read through this bill myself, and sort through media bullshit it seems like it also gives the government power to censor information from sources it deems a threat. Am I wrong?

The language is extremely broad in all the right places to condemn a variety of activity. From what I am reading it could even criminalize the use of VPN’s, if they wanted.

Modems, Routers, Mobile networks, VPNs (personal phones, laptops, etc.) are BANNED if used to contact any “foreign adversaries” (such as Korea, China, Cuba, Iran). Also, this is subject to change, meaning anywhere in Europe could be next if deemed “appropriate”.

If you are found using a method to bypass banned content, you are now a criminal. You can face up to 20 years in jail and a $250,000 fine. OR $1 million if you knowingly used a method to access this said content. Because this bill is vague, it can mean anything from a VPN to proxy or something else entirely. This is a HUGE no no in crafting laws that people are expected to follow.

If this bill is PASSED. The government has liberty to appoint a secretary of communication to create a small group that can ban/deem ANYTHING inappropriate or risk to security (VOTERS CANNOT HAVE INPUT ON THEIR DECISIONS). Essentially, they can go through our emails, DMs, texts, etc. if they deem appropriate.

The Bill gives our government the power to monitor any activity used by the devices listed above (including home cameras). ESSENTIALLY, they can access our in-home cameras and literally spy on us at any time without even informing us, if they deem appropriate.

This is an extraordinary infringement on very basic human rights. I don’t know how this would ever hold up to various clauses in the constitution. This is SCARY.
