The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

The Fed printing endless amounts of money out of thin air will always cause inflation.

I’m going to assume what you mean is something related to this?
Correct me if I’m wrong

But, the fact is we don’t know where San Francisco would get the money from, it might not be from these federal entities.

Because slavery was not confined to one set of people, but reparations are only ever in response to reparations of the enslavement of black people. If we were to give reparations out for past wrongdoings, why would we stop there? Shouldn’t we right the wrongs comitted to all people in the US?

It then goes into semantics of right vs wrong and how much is needed to right this wrong vs that wrong. An example:

  • Blacks (not all) were enslaved at one point in American History. This is wrong, and we’ve decided to give $5,000,000 to black families to reconcile.
  • Japanese (not all) were put in detainment camps after Pearl Harbor. This is wrong, but is this on the same scale as slavery? Do they also get 5mil, or maybe less?
  • Chinese (not all) were frequently blown up from mining accidents in the US’s westward expansion. This is wrong, but they weren’t enslaved… so how much do they get?
  • What if you’re mixed race? Black and Japanese… do you get half of each allotment? What if you’re 1/4 black 1/4 white 1/2 japanese - then what?

Who specifically pays for these reparations?

  • Does the govt print money and give it to those deemed victims (a net loss for everyone except victims via inflation)?
  • Do we charge white people for their enslavement of blacks?
  • Do we put in a flat tax rate to pay for reparations (meaning everyone has to pay for the wrongdoings of others, even those who’ve had historical wrongs done to them)?

No, we shouldn’t be sending money to any other nation.

San Francisco is bankrupt and in debt too, so where do you think it is coming from?

More funny money.

It will be part of a sweetheart deal in a 2,500 page long bill that’s earmarked to high hell. This will be in Appendix P for ā€œPorkā€. Meaning it will somehow still come from federal funding.

Pelosi got funding for rejuvenating San Fran’s railroad in one of the Covid stimulus packages - it was in exchange for her vote and support. No one can ever say she did nothing.

I hope they do it and keep spending into oblivion.

It will at least hasten the collapse, so we can start over. There is no fixing this shit show at this point.

If I could be king for a day, I’d give the govt the same troubleshooting technique given by every IT Support tech ever ā€œUnplug it for 15 seconds and plug it back inā€. But I think that’s too easy and unlikely to happen.

I don’t want a civil war, but I think this is the most likely scenario. If/when that happens, you have my number.

Fixed that for ya

In my opinion, if you truly something such as ā€œUSA righting all the wrongdoingsā€ why not be optimistic about a ā€œone step at a time ā€œ approach.

I mean like some things in life, you have to go through the hard stuff to get to the end goal. In this case, the hard stuff is that you truly would want some money yourself, but this San Francisco thing is only for one specific demographic. Now if this were to operate based on some nonsense that TRULY affects the quality of your life on a scale not to your liking, then you have every right to be upset, other than that I have to disagree.

To me, it’s incredibly rare to see an American get a ā€œhandout ā€œ. Remember useless wrinkle dick questionably still alive Biden is? He promises so many things to help the working class, but never delivers.

Something like this would personally give me hope their would be more ā€œhandoutsā€ in the future, on the state or federal level, to combat something such as inflation. I mean @Bauber said it himself companies are just going to keep companying (that’s probably not a word). Extremely optimistic, but I don’t care, if there is a way I hope it happens. How are we going to have change without any change? The less fear and jealousy we have, the better off USA is.

Jack Burton that is a very rude response and I would appreciate it if you would respond in a better manner.

The problem is giving people ā€œfreeā€ money does not combat inflation. It makes it worse.

I think it is inevitable, but it will be very very messy. We can’t keep going down this path forever. Timeframe? I have no idea. I thought the financial system would have collapsed long ago, but here we are.

Capitalism?

I don’t understand your logic here. Fighting inflation with inflation?

Weimar Republic did this, and it didn’t end very well.

Okay, based on google searches that is an oopsie on my part.

FWIW, the Weimar Republic did it deliberately, the printed as much money as possible to buy foreign hard currency at virtually any exchange rate and therefore service the reparations in said currencies stemming from the Versailles Treaty.

Of course, the strategy backfired.

What our government has been doing is not capitalism.

I always thought that companies are the ones with the power to affect our lives and the government is weak/does almost nothing.
For example, if the government acts more in favor of companies then it makes our lives a little better. Is that why Biden is being blamed for everything because he does the opposite? Tbh idk

Could you explain what you mean? I would appreciate it

Our economic / government model (which is intertwined) has become a corporate oligarchy. Money has controlled everything since the beginning of time and we are no different.

What we have is a bastardized form of capitalism where big pharma / big corp runs everything - including the government.

This is what you don’t like, correct?
