The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Would happily switch from income tax to sales tax so long as the system is prepared to operate on that - which is unlikely.

This bill won’t go anywhere anyways, it’s just a posturing opportunity.

P.S abolishing the IRS probably wouldn’t work because even a national sales tax would need enforcement - therefore a system to maintain and audit it. But I’m certainly on board with reducing some of their current capabilities and recent expansions (which only harm working class folks).

The thing to do is go back to the States paying a tax to be part of the U.S. How the Federal Government lays claim to each individual in the country makes no difference; it should not be claiming any of us.

All for it

Don’t tax me on what i make, tax me on what i spend

get rid of all loopholes

I totally agree with your thoughts.

I am curious to what loopholes you are referring to? I am not being antagonistic. I just lump people talking about tax loopholes in the same group that talk about gun show loopholes.

Hi, my name is George Soros and I like to donate 100million/year to my non-profit charity to ensure I have enough tax writeoffs to not pay taxes.

My non-profit charity then disburses these donations out to for-profit charities, which donate to political candidates I like.

I like any system that lets me pay myself for my own interests and write it off as ‘charity’.

I am not sure how you would stop that without decimating all charitable giving.

Also, anyone that thinks the tax code is not going to be written to favor the wealthy is living in fantasy land.

I have heard about taxing unrealized gains to stop the ultra-wealthy from borrowing against their assets as debt - which does not count as income. Another non-starter and ignorance in my mind.

You are not going to beat the wealthy at this 10,000-page tax game. I prefer a consumption tax with no write-offs and no exclusions, which would put an end to all of this. The more you spend - the more you pay. That seems very fair to me.

Right, which is why this could be shortened to a few pages where it describes sales taxes based on type of goods.

Agreed, and I don’t think necessities should be taxed or it should be a much lower %. Like food, water, toiletries, etc.

Write offs, exclusions

you buy, you pay tax…even overseas buying and even internet purchases

only time you dont have to is food, medical and those that live below the poverty line

I have never agreed with this. If you exist and purchase in this model, you should pay taxes. Everyone needs to have skin in the game.

Could not agree more.

Since we’re talking about ‘skin in the game’, i think it’s about time to open up the draft for women too. May as well include anything in between him and her while we’re at it!

Equality for all!
^nothing in this post is sarcastic

The only reason i say this is because usually those in poverty are negatively impacted the most

True equality.

We all know the feminists never wanted equality. They want all the perks, but none of the responsibilities.

How many below the poverty line have money that they’ve earned?

That is a good question, but I really don’t have any concrete facts to back up my thoughts.

My initial thoughts are very few.

I knew this would fail

And I imagine the writers are due for a firing

The person (Mindy Kaling), who thought adult entertainment revolved around a cartoon about sexualized 15 year olds, should be called out as the sick piece of garbage she is. My daughter made it through about 10 minutes before she turned it off. Woke humor just isn’t funny.

Is everything woke nowadays? Perhaps the show is just bad and that’s it…
