Because she’d(edit: as would her employer) be aware of the laws.
Libel is a civil issue. This is being treated as a crime. You can’t hold an entire newspaper responsible for a crime. It would be the reporter who is making a paycheck who would be held responsible under this “law”.
That might not be true as it’s a question of benefit. This person directly benefited from posting the information on Facebook. A real journalist gets a paycheck from those who directly benefit from what gets published.
She got followers on the internet. You are arguing that a paycheck is not a benefit?
Edit: I don’t even think you could prove she got any additional followers just based on those two stories she published.
Double Edit: Who else could you hold criminally responsible at a newspaper?

Here’s the law, if anyone is interested. I think 39.06.c. is what’s relevant to this.
No. From what I’ve read it makes things less clear with regard to the law.
I suppose you could prove she got likes.
The editor, publisher, I don’t know. My point is that she is an individual which makes it a freedom of speech issue whereas a newspaper or other media outlet would make it a freedom of the press issue. And as Nick pointed out, a legitimate media outlet would know the laws and ask a journalist for their sources.
So…Instead of addressing the fuckedupedness of this, you are actually arguing which part of the last sentence of the first amendment applies. Awesome.
This is on par with Zecarlo’s entire presence on this site.
I think there is probably more to the story than what was posted. Also, if she broke the law, why shouldn’t she face the consequences? If the law is unconstitutional then it can always be challenged in court.
If we all agreed on everything, what would be the point of this site? 99% of the pundits out there, from Alex Jones and Tucker to Rachel Madow and Don Lemon, are just provocateurs.
I don’t know if I would have been so willing to jump on the grenade of comparing myself to the likes of Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson, Rachel Maddow and Don Lemon - but you have my repsect for being honest about it.
At least I didn’t add Milo Yiannopoulos.
I was considering Ben Shapiro but I didn’t want the Kanye fans getting mad at me.
Well, yeah it’s obvious. Men are better than women at everything, and I do mean everything.
What’s funny is the double standard as the real girls aren’t overweight but this “girl” who won looks like a Lizzo clone.
“He ain’t a lady if he ain’t 280”?

We should just start giving them all first place trophies in every event they participate in until it becomes apparent that it is a sarcastic award that everybody knows is meaningless.
Like, they fill out the entry form, show up and somebody official looking just hands them a trophy and says “Wow! Look at that! First place!” Then everybody sarcastically golf claps, gives an unenthusiastic “Yay. Good job dude.” Then goes about the business of having a real competition.
