The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Oof… Demoralized soy boy reject

He confused democracy with communism as implemented in the 20th century.

From a news article on the Roe V Wade SCOTUS leak
"ā€œThe leak of the … potential Supreme Court decision was, I think, clearly designed to affect both the court, and I think perhaps the midterms,ā€ Harris Poll chairman and Stagwell CEO Mark Penn told Fox News. ā€œI think that Democrats were rather lackluster going into these midterms, had kind of a feeling of growing defeat coming.ā€

ā€œThis is going to provide an ability for Democrats to energize their base somewhat more than was going to happen without this,ā€ Penn added. ā€œI think that that breathed new life into Democratic hopes for those midterm elections.ā€"

Well no :poop:. Did anyone really think anything else on this one? Democrats were set to get hammered this fall with the rising inflation, housing crisis, and gas prices.

Regardless of ones stance on the issue - the above is clearly the motive. Talking to my wife (law student) she said this leak seriously undermines the court’s judiciary review ability as the justices trade draft decisions back and forth all the time. It’s a debate that’s meant to stay closed to the public so public bias/reactions/etc… do not influence the decision process.

We’ve got a whole thread on this if you’re interested.

Yes, this is 100% the dems attempting to change their message from LGBTQ+ nonsense to the ability to kill viable babies.

I saw that thread. The reason i put it here is because some idiot staffer for SCOTUS did this (or was put up to it by money) and severely undermined one of our best systems for checks and balance. Hence - stupid.

It’s be interesting to hear the clerks reasoning for the leak. SCOTUS clerking is super duper prestigious, and the folks who do it are fully bought in to ā€œthe lawā€. Seems unlikely it was done for purely political reasoning. Maybe could have been an admin staffer I guess, but I would have thought their access would be limited.

Sounds like SCOTUS needs some better document security. It’s real cheap to get software that limits access to word or PDF documents.

It appears as though all the justices are unhappy with this leak, regardless of supposed party affiliation.

All Clerks are at least law students or attorneys (from what my wife has told me). They should understand the judicial process better than most.

Clerking is a prestigious position. SCOTUS clerking is ridiculously prestigious- like career defining. Like being a cardinal in the Catholic church. So, I really doubt it was a clerk. I bet it was an admin staffer.

Goes to show EVERYONE is finding it really difficult to hire good employees these days haha.

My mind goes to security for the SCOTUS. With a leak like this there is a lot of upset people. The leak allows people to see what the decision will likely be ahead of time (allowing for potential interference). Not much someone could do after the decision, but at the moment, someone could drastically impact abortion law in the US.

I guess if I was one of the conservative SCOTUS members, I wouldn’t feel very safe right now.

I think, given the level of politically incentivized violence in today’s society, that this statement stands no matter what.

Just getting nominated will bring out rape claims from people you’ve never met. Though this seems to be a bit more one sided if I’m being honest.

Does a being born-female-but-now-identifying-as-male still bleed monthly? Weird.

Today I learned that more Americans die every year do to an autoerotic event than are killed by AR-type rifles.

We should ban assault belts now.

Don’t take that away from me

Regardless of one’s thoughts on the issue. This is utterly ridiculous and unfortunately from my home state:
Middle schooler worried sexual harassment accusations for using wrong pronouns could ā€˜shatter’ college chances | Fox News

Still doesn’t say what he did. Could very well have been incessant bullying using intentionally wrong pronouns. Additionally, this would have been a non issue for his college applications in 5 years, still will be… It’s middle school. No one cares. But nooooo, his shithead parents need to grab the spotlight for fame and their 15mins and in the process make their kid google able for sexual harassment.

Still not sexual harassment, certainly if he’s referring to someone by their actual gender and not entertaining their distorted reality
