The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Fair enough
My Father in law is a baptist preacher and we have had decent debates on the young earth theory (which he believes) in the past. Once I got to a question he couldn’t answer I got back “well that’s what the Bible says”

I can’t counter that with logic and reasoning anymore.

This is also the guy who audibly scoffs at two dudes holding hands in a hallmark film. I will forgive the young earth thinking if he ditches that poor attitude.

In my experience, steering that convo towards the ‘Intelligent Design’ route is really the only way forward (and worthwhile)

Better education absolutely is absolutely not dependent on more funding.

Better parents create better students.

The idea of the failing school is false. It’s failing communities that are the problem.

I disagree, though I do agree there is a point of diminishing returns. And I also agree that home life has a larger impact on academic success than school funding.

People like to say that suburban areas have better funded schools. I don’t know about that. Urban schools offer a lot more services to students such as health care, social workers, special education, free lunch, breakfast and even after school meals. The spending per student is probably not that different between suburban and urban schools.

Regardless, the idea that you can just spend your way out of these issues is how uneducated activists/sjws/wokesters demonstrate their ignorance. What does more funding mean? I would prefer that someone just say exactly what service they want to provide and how exactly it will improve things. Then we can talk funding. Just giving money to people and programs which have a proven history of ineffectiveness is not going to do anything. It’s not for nothing that BLM and other social justice groups use vague language when they offer their solutions. In fact, most of their solutions are worded as outcomes. Example: What do you plan on doing? SJW: improving literacy. No, improving literacy is the desired result, not the actual plan to achieve it.

It’s like BLM saying they want a community which is safe for LGBTQetc., people of color. OK. That’s what they want to create but how exactly are they going to do it?

I attended a board of ed meeting for one of the worst school districts in my state. A teacher brought up how they start a new five year plan every two or three years. This tells us two things: one, the plans are not well thought out and probably not based on proven successes in other schools. Two, the people who come up with these plans, which includes the superintendent, are incompetent.

In the end, we all know what works with regard to education. But you have a bunch of people who need to reinvent the spoon. It doesn’t matter anyway because what needs to be done will never be done.

I chuckled at this regarding not wearing a mask.

I think additional funding to bad school districts, allocated in the right places, can help close the gap to school districts with better home lives.

Specifically, more interactive curriculum, lower teacher-student ratio, longer school days, and beefed up after school/extracurricular activities.

It’s a complete non-sequitir and your failure to discern that troubles me.

It’s supposed to be a funny meme lighten up a bit.

It perpetuates ignorance of a polemic issue. Contextually, it’s not funny. It’s tone deaf at best.

Honestly can’t tell if you are anti mask, pro mask, anti headlight, or pro headlight. But of all the things posted in this thread, that meme is what you take issue with? Lol.

At this point in the pandemic these anti-maskers, especially the vaccinated ones, are just like the people who refuse to wear diapers. Science informs us that anyone can shit their pants at any time, often with no warning to themselves or the people sharing their space. Go to any Taco Bell and you’ll see what I mean.

Science shows that diapers are even more effective at preventing the spread of loose shit than cloth masks are at stopping the virus. Hopefully all of the selfish people will wise up and get on board with my initiative for diaper mandates. People need to be more considerate of others. No shirt, no shoes, no mask, no diaper, no service.

I don’t think there is conclusive evidence on either side of the argument, and that bringing the issue up is an ignorant form of trolling and hygiene theater. Anyone that does bring it up is just looking for drama. Memes aren’t going to change anyone’s thinking - it’s just virtue signaling. If it makes you feel better to signal your virtue, have at it. It smacks of righteousness to me. In hindsight, I guess it is appropriate considering the thread title.

Fixed it for you. Same diff - equally nonsensical.

The fact you are eating Taco Bell is your warning.

And tens of thousands are injured and/or killed in toilet-related accidents each year. A diaper would prevent those.

Around half the people who were killed in auto accidents were wearing seat belts. The answer is to wear a diaper instead. Is that how it works?

Aren’t we already past the mask issue? Vaccine passports are making my blood boil. Equally stupid fucking opinions from the fringes on both sides. I don’t agree with such passports but I can’t support the arguments being made by the most vocal idiots and, because the arguments are so fucking stupid, they’re being used by the smarter ones on the other side to augment their stances. That’s not to say the dumbasses on the “pro-passport” side are making better arguments. The climate of fear just makes them more compelling.

And fuck you guys for getting my hopes up for a second. There’s no Freedom to Drive in the Dark Committee. I’d join that in a heartbeat just to say I did.

As I’ve said many times how we got the people who couldn’t fathom wearing a mask while they walk into a gas station to get a candy bar to wear pants is beyond me.

We’re fucked if something happens where it may be more safe to add something to a pair of pants. If doctors recommend it those pants are all coming off in the name of freedom!

Now you’re thinking like a true patriot!

Actually I just thought it was funny and this is the stupid thread. I did not expect the tears.
