Say hello…or goodbye to the latest Darwin award winner:
Mexico Sues US Gun Manufacturers Over Flow of Guns Across Border
IN A HIGHLY UNUSUAL MOVE, MEXICO SUES MULTIPLE AMERICAN GUN MANUFACTURERS FOR THE ILLEGAL FLOW OF WEAPONS ACROSS THE BORDER.
The Mexican government filed a lawsuit in U.S. federal court Wednesday, naming several American firearm manufacturers. The Mexican lawsuit against U.S. gunmakers alleges lack of control contributes to an illegal flood of weapons over the border. Filed in U.S. federal court in Boston, Mexico sues American gun manufacturers, but does not name the U.S. federal government or the ATF. Well, well, how about that?
Well, your government has been corrupt for decades and getting worse. Hey, here’s an idea: how about about stopping the illegal flood of tons of drugs flowing into the US?
The suit appears strategically filed in Boston, a federal court site closest to America’s famed Gun Valley. The suit specifically names Smith & Wesson, Barrett, Beretta, Glock and Colt’s Manufacturing, reported The Washington Post.
The lawsuit further claims U.S. firearm companies “are conscious of the fact that their products are trafficked and used in illicit activities against the civilian population and authorities of Mexico, according to a Foreign Ministry document, reported The Washington Post.
“are conscious of the fact that their drugs are trafficked and used in illicit activities against the civilian population and authorities of the US. First line of the counter suit.
“Nonetheless, they continue to prioritize their economic benefit, and use marketing strategies to promote weapons that are ever more lethal, without mechanisms of security or traceability,” it continued, reported The Washington Post.
“Nonetheless, they continue to prioritize their economic benefit" Keep those drugs flowing, how else is Mexico going to have a GNP?
The lawsuit seeks financial damages potentially reaching up to $10 billion, according to The Washington Post. It further calls for tighter controls on sales and increased security features on arms. Finally, the lawsuit calls for American companies to undertake studies and media campaigns to prevent arms trafficking.
“seeks financial damages potentially reaching up to $10 billion” Which goes into those bank accounts in the Isle of Man.
Mexico’s lawsuit also drills down on alleged American gunmaker marketing practices. It called attention specifically to a Colt .38 Super engraved with the image of revolutionary hero Emiliano Zapato, reported The Washington Post. It claims an assassin used the same pistol to murder investigative journalist Miroslava Breach in 2017.
Woke has hit the government of Mexico!
“Mexico is denouncing these promotional practices, along with other examples of negligence, like multiple weapons sales to a solo buyer, and the absence of background checks,” said Foreign Ministry documents, according to The Washington Post.
" and the absence of background checks, Every Mexican drug dealer, I have ever arrested had been fully vetted by the Mexican government.
Instead of them paying for the wall, we’ll be paying them.
Can we really be mad when they got this idea of suing gun manufacturers from us?
No, we really can’t be mad in all fairness. The article just struck me as ironic and humorous, considering the amount of drugs flowing out of Mexico.
To be fair, regarding the democratic index US and Mexico actually rank fairly closely, Mexico netting a slightly lower score due to issues like government corruption. US government
hasn’t been close to being free of corruption over the years.
This is about as meaningful in terms of reality, as some of the countries on the UN human rights council.
Interesting, did not know that. Generally countries that score low on the democratic index have a similar scale of corruption/human rights violations.
The countries that score low are like… Turkmenistan, China, North Korea etc. Ones that score high are like Nordic countries, NZ, Austr-… Wait a minute. Spain, US, Mexico, Australia… All fairly close to one another, between 6-8/10 on the scale
How do you even measure something like that? Anyway, one thing to consider is how many journalists, judges, cops, prosecutors, activists, politicians, get killed in Mexico vs the US.
Very true… but isn’t it also true that MJT is effectively and “faithfully” carrying on the legacy of Trumpism?
As in, purely reactionary and relentlessly self-promoting and… what else is even there??
Yep, sounds awfully familiar.
I think Trump appealed to a certain segment of our population in a certain way. They took things to a level that Trump couldn’t have expected. I don’t believe Trump would have ever mentioned Jewish space lasers, for example. Trump uses the word they a lot. They stole the election. What he means by they and what the loons think they refers to, are two different things.
I don’t think Trump ever said he was chosen by God, but you have many of his followers who think that, even the wealthy my pillow guy.
People talk about the divide between these binary political labels like liberal/conservative, democrat/republican, socialist/capitalist, etc. The country can survive these things however, the divide that is the real issue is the one between the stupid and those with common sense. I saw a clip of an interview with the my pillow guy; I’m looking at him thinking he must have some brains because he built a company and became wealthy. But listening to him speak, I thought he is either very dumb or insane. I guess there’s hope for all of us if those things are not barriers to success.
Jewish space lasers? Who elects someone that ridiculous? It’s not even about if she believes it, but that the voters believe it. I don’t worry if a politician I don’t agree with gets elected as long as he’s smart, but if he’s a moron then we have a problem.
I think he used to be a crack addict. Not that addicts can’t go on to recover and live meaningful lives, but…the crack addiction and how he acts now? Makes some sense.
I actually operate these space lasers.
Lizard person unreal reporting for Jewish space duty!
To activate the lasers I have to put my tefillin into a tefillin shaped keyhole
Princeton University : A bastion of knowledge, a lighthouse of intellectual thinking, a truly one of a kind American institution.
Princeton University is offering a “Black Lives Matter” class to students that includes readings from a former communist party leader who once made the FBI’s Most Wanted List.
The course, which promises to explore the “historical roots and growth of the Black Lives Matter social movement,” will be offered to students starting this Fall semester. The course features readings from former Black Panther member Angela Davis, a two-time vice-presidential candidate of the Communist Party.
The course description describes the Black Lives Matter movement and the course as "committed to resisting, unveiling, and undoing histories of state sanctioned violence against Black and Brown bodies."
The course seeks to document the forms of dispossession that Black Americans face, and offers a critical examination of the prison industrial complex, police brutality, urban poverty, and white supremacy in the US," the description reads.
the course, first flagged by The College Fix, is set to be taught by professor Hanna Garth, who describes herself on her website as someone who is “broadly interested in the ways in which people struggle to overcome structural violence.”
“All of my research, teaching, and mentoring is designed around my commitment to feminist methodologies and critical race theory,” Garth explains on the site.
Some of Garth’s previous course offerings include “Race and Racisms,” “Postcolonial and Decolonial Theory,” and “Theories of Social Justice.”
Got it, so she seeks out data to confirm her biases … what a mammoth of intellectual curiosity and critical thought
Historical roots? It goes back a few years not decades, let alone centuries.
Apparently they, like most people, don’t know the actual origins of BLM. It didn’t start because of a police shooting; it started when Trayvon Martin was killed by a citizen, in what turned out to be self-defense.
Because they can’t acknowledge there are poor white people.
Note: there is a lot of talk about CRT right now. You have those who oppose it and those who defend it, in a way, who say it isn’t being taught. They claim it is only taught in law schools (even though Garth did not go to law school so how the hell does she know about it?). This is true and not true. CRT is typically not taught as CRT however, it is an influence on teaching. It’s like physics in that you don’t learn math in physics but you do use it. Whenever you are asked to list your privileges, you are doing something that refers to CRT.
Note here she doesn’t mention her personal experience. This a woman who triple majored as an undergrad. She then got her Master’s and then her doctorate. She has been working in academia and writing books. I’m sure she is on touch with what is going on in America’s inner cities.
And to show just how I don’t know, phony, this field of study is, just look at what she focuses on:
" My recent work is focused on the connections between food systems, structural inequalities, health, and wellbeing. This work has looked at the ways in which macro-level changes and shifts in local food distribution systems impact communities, families, and individuals. I have studied how food scarcity and reduced access to affordable food influence individual distress, and household and community dynamics. I have also studied the ways in which food justice organizations attempt to improve access to healthy food for low income communities."
She has written books on… food. One is titled Food in Cuba. Another is Food and Identity in the Caribbean. The she has this clever title for another: Black Food Matters, which is about food justice. I guess that’s a thing.
So an anthropologist who specializes in food, mainly in the Caribbean, is going to teach a course about US history and policy with regard to African Americans.
This might be a positive. It will show people that BLM is more of a political (communist) movement than a justice for black people movement. Perhaps students will learn how Davis was influenced by Sartre (who loved Mao), and showed a fondness for Eastern Bloc nations (in spite of their abysmal record on human rights), and recognize how there is a definite authoritarian and violent undertone to her beliefs.
And if they look deeper, they will see that she her impact on Civil Rights is almost non-existent. Everyone knows her but no one can explain just what she did to make anything better. She really came into public view in the 70s, which is after the Civil Rights’ Movement.
With that said, she will be probably be taught in a way that Che is taught: heroic and without any reference to their support for crimes against humanity. She will be portrayed as someone who stood up to injustice and oppression, and they will of course leave out her visit to the Berlin Wall (on East Germany’s side) with her smiling face that ignores the many people who were shot trying to go over it. They won’t mention her belief that people in the Eastern Bloc were only put in jail if they undermined the government. Yeah, that is a pretty radical, peace and love way of thinking for someone who claimed to be fighting the power and for liberation. I guarantee that if a student were to ask the professor about Davis’ support of oppressive regimes, that the professor will have no answer. Just as if she were asked about Che’s racism and brutality she would have no response.
Given her background, she seeks that data in cookbooks.
If anyone deserves a pardon it’s this guy. If it had been a jury trial, and I were on it, I would not vote to convict.
I feel like this was a setup. Who thought that putting the rapist in the same cell as the victim’s brother was a good idea? Seems like it wasn’t an accident.
He also took a plea that gave him 24 years. Unless there is some deal in place where he won’t serve much of it, he should have gone to trial. What juror wouldn’t sympathize with him?
