This drives me up a wall myself. The problem is that the people you and @cyclonengineer are talking about are the ones who believe the vaccine will give you horns or some shit. They’re not exactly playing with a full deck.
My solution is let the vaccinated people go on about their lives like normal with no restrictions and let the people without vaccines suffer all the inconveniences. Doing otherwise incentivizes the exact wrong behavior… Which is what cyclone was talking about and pisses me off…
However at some point most of these people are going to get sick of being inconvenienced and finally get the thing done. The ones who won’t…well they are committed to their delusion.
I think it’s long past time we stopped coddling these people. The cynical and black-hearted part of me wants to just remove all the warning labels on every product and watch the thinning of the pool happen lol.

The shitty thing is that people with genuine underlying conditions who can’t get vaccinated will be inconvenienced as well, not to mention being at higher risk if/when cases start exploding.
We know from the historical charts that this shit doesn’t just happen at an even pace, which would enable the healthcare system to not be overwhelmed or at least be prepared for it. It happens in waves.
Some might think this is an indication of seasonal outbreaks so predictability wouldn’t be an issue if restrictions are eased and most variables remain constant but that’s not what I’m seeing from the charts at the moment.
The problem in these places in South Asia is a little complicated. Governments are fucking corrupt and inefficient. The CCP chose to use their own vaccines on their population and then they fucking lockdown 20 million people when 3 cases appear in one province. India has the license for it’s own vaccine but the government won’t expand it’s manufacturing capabilities to inoculate it’s own population. Several lawsuits have already been filed to compel them to let other private manufacturers produce them. The Indonesian government is too fucking stupid for anyone to predict what they’re going to do.
Less educated people will choose any kind of traditional medicine over Western medicine as long as you create a little bit of doubt. Fuck, whenever I got really sick as a kid, my parents would call the fucking Chinese medium who lived next door to chant prayers and burn fucking talismans(that yellow piece of paper with words on it), mix that shit in water and make me drink it lol. This was AFTER they had converted to Catholicism. It’s why people were scrambling for ivermectin after a couple of social media influencers started pushing it. Yes, it’s from the West but this is over 2 decades later and involves a new generation. Their thought process is still similar.
Indonesia previously had to discard lots of vaccines because the uptake was low. Granted these vaccines were from China, but it would have been even worse if they had access to other ones. People here are generally more scared of the mRNA ones because they think it will “change their DNA”.
A couple of people out of several million die from mRNA vaccine side effects. Scared shitless. Hundreds of healthcare workers in Indonesia and the Philippines die because of inadequate protection with the China vaccine. No fucking problem. Death toll rises exponentially amongst the population. 10% of infected die either due to the virus itself or lack of proper treatment because of overwhelmed healthcare systems. Have to fucking buy their own oxygen tanks and use them at home. Vaccines are scarier.
