That shits been going on since at least the 80s with shit life gi joe and the mandatory national anthem and fly overs at football games
I suppose you can call g.i Joe and the like a form of propaganda, but this ad is a blatant call-to-action.
I really think itās a parody.
EDIT:
Holy fuck itās real?!! Forget the āwokeā shit. What you should REALLY be worried about is the fact that the ad makers determined that the ad needed to be made like ads targeted at children to appeal to the target demographic.
Didnāt know where to post this not to kill another thread soā¦
Honest Government Ad | Weāre F**ked - YouTube
It was funny until it became an add for āmarchesā or whatever
This is really being overblown. The Army has more non combat jobs than combat jobs they need to fill. If the day comes that the standards are lowered for infantry and SF, for example, then we need to worry.

While I agree with this and I think most people donāt really understand how the military works in general, I donāt think you want people who respond to recruitment ads that give them mental images of becoming modern day Disney princesses. Thatās the vibe Iām getting from the ad that was posted.
Iād be more in agreement if the ad was for recruiting civilian staff with specific skills. Not sure if you utilize a lot of them there.
I understand itās part of a series of ads with variations based on one main theme and the others may differ considerably but Iāve not watched them yet.
EDIT:
Also, I asked the opinions of people I personally know in 3 different countries (online; direct messages, not a forum post) who have served and they were all too busy laughing to give any constructive comments. Itās really not good for your international image.
*INDIANAPOLIS ā A school board in Monroe County, Indiana, voted Tuesday to disarm its police officers in schools. School administrators said their decision came from wanting students to feel welcome. *
*āFor many people, guns signify that we have something to be afraid of,ā said board member April Hennessey in an interview with CBS4. āIf we say that schools are safe, then we have to lean into that.ā *
*The county school district will still employ school resource officers, but they will no longer be allowed to carry weapons on school property, according to the report. *
*The decision was met with some criticism. *
*āDisarming school resource officers prevents them from doing the full weight of responsibility theyāve been asked to do in the schools,ā said Chase Lyday with the Indiana SRO Association. āIt doesnāt align with best practice.ā *
Lyday said that he āstrongly discouragesā school districts from disarming SROs.
To the school board members in Monroe County, Indiana and especially Ms. Hennessey: Brilliant decision. Now, any nutcase out there with an āActive Shooter fantasyā is free to enter your school and slaughter as many children, teachers, and SROās as they want. If that happens you can explain the blood on yours hands with your stupid reasoning:
Then why even have resource officers?
Women are really screwing up public education in this country.
I wish I were so woke that I couldnāt believe black people could make decisions on their own and instead do what white supremacists tell them.
Using her logic, when a white person is attacked by someone of another race because of race, itās because of white supremacy. I would also ask her two questions:
-
Why did she get a phd in English? The language and literature of white supremacy.
-
How do Asian societies view other races? Or even other Asians, like the Japanese and Chinese? The Rape of Nanking was because of white people I suppose.
White Rape Culture. Duh. Wanna see my power point slide? #canceldt79
Serious answer:
When weāre being racist, weāre FUCKING RACIST. Itās the norm so āracismā isnāt even used as an all encompassing term. Itās something thatās described according to context and intent.
For example, some people might say āget an Indian lawyerā if you commit a crime that requires representation in court because āIndians are the best lawyers since theyāre great liarsā. (You thought only Sicilians have this reputation according to Tarantino lol?)
How do you make sense of this lol? Indian criminal lawyers obviously benefit financially and hiring someone to represent you for something that will seriously determine your future prospects obviously requires an extreme amount trust in him/her, while other Indians get fucked in several ways due to this perception.
If I were to go into āinstitutional racismā with regard to certain things like hiring practices, it would not only include race, but people of the same race but from different countries. It would be too long and complex for me to get into here.
Even Muslims have somehow developed some kind of ācasteā system over here, with, for example, people of pure Arab descent regarding others as inferior due to both race and religious practices. You guys seem to refer to all of them as ābrown peopleā online when talking about āoppressionā. I can guarantee you lots will take major fucking offense if you equate them with the wrong group with the same skin color and religion.
While I donāt know much about the US, this shit is not simple and, thus, cannot be simplified to such an extent. Of course racism exists EVERYWHERE. Unlike policies dealing with things like economics, it needs a bottom up approach, not a top down one since itās a very complex social issue. You can pass a policy from the top down which looks good on paper and in sociology classes filled with people with no fucking life experience, and it can end up creating even more tension amongst people at the ground level IME.
Shit, since I was a kid, my grandmother would always tell me to get a Japanese wife because they ātie your shoelacesā when youāre leaving for work lol. At the same time, she would curse the Japanese as a whole every time she saw them on TV because she lived through the Japanese Occupation. Then, at other times, sheād tell us some of them like the guys stationed to guard her district actually treated kids pretty well and how polite and cultured they could be. Then it was back to decapitated heads hanging at what used to be shopping places and mass executions and public torture.
Sheās not the only one from her generation who told me stuff like this.
Itās just weird sometimes, to say the least.
Wha⦠Howā¦does she even have a brain???
Damn good post.
Much appreciated. Iād like to also clarify that when I wrote āMuslimsā, Iām only talking about those from the same factions/denominations or whatever theyāre called. (Iām not being sarcastic. Itās just that we donāt use such terms here in English unless weāre talking about Christianity so I really donāt know what term to use).
Theyāre all from the same one but it varies according to the level of conservatism in practice from what Iāve been told by different people of said religion.
Iām not even claiming I know balls about the religion other than what has currently evolved into an āunspokenā social and cultural issue which has caused real social repercussions amongst them which have become pretty fucking conspicuous over the last decade.
Iām NOT talking about violence of any kind. Thatās done by the extremists, which has, instead, become increasingly rare these days although the shit currently going on with Israel did reignite some loons but itās still all under control. Itās more to do with things like marriage and hiring practices.
@loppar would probably be able to describe this much better since Iām also being very careful about what I write online and my knowledge is very fucking limited. I know heās well educated on this subject and has been to S.E Asia before.
Iāve always found the dynamics with Islam and religious interaction in general in your region of the world fascinating, but I most definitely do not have a good enough understanding of the factors involved. Certainly not enough to have an informed opinion. But it is enlightening to hear from people living/working/traveling over there.
I think part of the problem for me is that itās interesting as the history is, thereās just so damn MUCH of it lol.
We donāt really talk about the religion itself over here, which is why I donāt even know much about what friends Iāve known my whole life do other than the more obvious things like going to the mosque and stuff like Ramadan. Itās the social stuff thatās being discussed like hijabs, modern marriage dynamics etc.
The only stuff I really know quite a bit about are things having to do with the occult like shamans and different kinds of demons that are more cultural than religious in nature lol.
If you watched The Conjuring, you will see some influences there since James Wan was born in Malaysia. The ābad smellā part literally made my hair stand and the witch looked very much like what is called a āPontianakā around his region.
A Pontianak is the spirit of a woman who died during childbirth. She is often sighted squatting on a tree eating her foetus.
I KNEW the bitch in The Conjuring was going to be squatting on top of the fucking cupboard because of this but that scene still made me jump lol.
This is why, when someone tells me they lost weight, I say, ānot enough, fatty.ā
What is really harmful, is that many people are positive of someoneās weight loss until they start looking more attractive than them. Then it is donāt get too skinny, here is a donut⦠I havenāt seen this much with men, but with women it seems common.
By more common, you mean always?
Haha! āFinally, now keep the weight off!ā
I think men may have some of the same feelings as women, but donāt act upon them as often. I wouldnāt ever go through the effort to bring a friend donuts in effort to make him not as attractive as me. I do think this type of thinking and actions are more common with women.
