Idk. I am not a super competitive person when it comes to lifeās big things like income, car, houseā¦ Maybe I have different perspective. When I see people with stuff they struggle to afford, I donāt envy them, I feel sorry for them. I do understand the attractive partner thing.
I do think having a fit strong body is worth working towards, and is something people envy more than stuff like cars, boats, big houses.
To each their own though. Maybe they can have it all? I would choose to be moderately successful with a job I donāt have to work over 40 hours a week at (my current engineering gig), but with a body in the top 5% (probably 1% for my age bracket), compared to being less fit and making more (not that it is a dichotomy necessarily).
It is much easier to be in the top 1% in fitness, than income. I donāt need more money. More money would just mean a higher savings rate (which is good), but I wouldnāt sacrifice health by working longer, or having more stress to do so.
