The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Well, hindsight is 20/20, right. I think if they could see what would happen to their ratings, they might have resisted implementing those changes.

When they were caving into the “Oscars so white” stuff and implementing policy, I thought to myself, I no longer care about their award for best picture (because that isn’t what they are selecting). I still probably wouldn’t watch the award show, but I would usually watch the best picture winner (historically, there have been some pretty good ones). We now have best picture winners that have very few people that have seen. They agreed to discredit themselves.

Maybe “who hasn’t” is a good question now, but I think we may see more resistance to the ultra woke stuff, it when companies see a big risk to it. Oxford should be laughed at. The Academy should be laughed at.

The funny thing is that the woke crowd believes words can literally be violent yet, they weaponize the words they use. They can shut down dialogue with one word.

I see it as anti intellectual, a failure to consider ideas, all or nothing mindset, Dunning Kruger, etc.

My concern is that I am underestimating the size of this crowd.

On the left we have the Woke SJWs, on the right we have the Trumtards. Each side fighting to consume the soul of America. Who would you rather win?

The obvious answer of “they can both go fuck themselves” is not allowed.

I’m with them. Seeing piano scores with key signatures with more than 3 sharps or flats causes me great distress. They need to change this shit to something like guitar tabs. Fucking colonizers with your music theory and shit.

No, seriously…

Neither. I would prefer that people think about things a bit more if possible. Maybe we could have courses on being rational or something.

It’s a tough question, as both suck. Crazy on one side vs no fun on the other (either can apply to each side I suppose). I really can’t answer this one. I was trying to think of which side would be more likely to allow democracy (and I would pick that as it could self correct), but I think the extreme of both sides isn’t a huge fan of it.

Stop it! You need to pick a side and be an asshole about it. It’s the American way, damnit!

I’m wrote somewhere else I’m avoiding Nomadland BECAUSE it swept the Oscars because I don’t fucking trust them anymore even though I found out the director’s stepmother is probably one of the greatest actresses alive.

With the Trumptards, how likely is anarchy? That might be preferable to either.

I think this is a common sentiment. I read that this year ratings were horrendous. I looked at why, and several reasons were given. The thing is they all pertained to this year (covid, lack of movies), which doesn’t explain the sharp decline over a few years (starting about when the “Oscars so white” stuff started). I clicked though a few articles because I thought, this is so obvious why it is declining (people don’t trust them anymore). I didn’t see a single article suggesting a loss of credibility. I think they could have made a new category “best woke picture”, and kept the best picture as what they thought was actually the best movie of the year. That would be preferable to keeping the title “best picture” while making it something different (best woke picture).

Get rid of those pesky black keys (see how l turned that into a colonialist statement) and just number them 1-88. Many solved problems with only a minimum number of new ones created.

“This piece is in the key of D flat…”

No. Just no. I resign.

D flat

Can’t a trumpet only play 3 notes because of the 3 valves?
:stuck_out_tongue:

Seems like wifey’s classical piano stuff is massive sharps/flats. She always says ‘I don’t know the key, I just know to make the change while playing.’ geez

Racist :flushed:

And Spike Lee still wouldn’t win.

Didn’t we already solve this problem?

I believe so. It’s a nightmare to play on trumpet. I don’t even want to think about piano!

Not that I’m some concert pianist but I tend to find playing the accidentals (black keys) on the piano to be a bit easier than the white keys mainly b/c they’re raised and my fingers won’t get stuck between them when moving up and down the scale.

I’m learning a piece that’s in E flat major (3 flats in the scale) with some sixteenth note runs … not too bad honestly

I wouldn’t know, however, anything about any other instrument except maybe the electric bass which I have very, very limited experience with

Looks like Chicago’s mayor is trying to fight what she perceives incorrectly as racism with objective racism.
