The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Funny thing is she’s criticizing a guy who has heart disease and is no doubt on at least 1 if not 2 blood thinners which freakin destroy one’s cold tolerance-For bundling up.

But she feels good about herself now, so the facts of the matter aren’t that important.

A gif of the intrepid journalist.

I mean, at this point writing about “privilege” is low hanging fruit - you can twist anything to be anything you want it to be in a post-reason world

You say from the luxury of your plush privilegey position of power!

It was always meant to be that way. It’s pure poison, and US race relations have infected U.K. policing and academia.

I must say, my patience for it is thinning faster than an anorak beset by moths.

Privilege is having so little to worry about that you have to resort to canceling mittens for being racist.

Were I some kleptocratic tyrant, it is exactly the type of thing I’d want the plebs to focus on while I rob them blind.

Edited per Zecarlo’s correction.

Racist Mittens! :joy:

Added to list of word combinations that I never imagined could exist.

We should assume going forward that there is no issue so petty that someone won’t get upset about it for the sake of some column inches.

Well I’m offended by this assumption!

Not sure why yet though. Lemme run it past a bunch of elementary students so I can tell you what I think they think it means.

One of the things that Machiavelli said a ruler should not do is steal.

A fair point, I shall amend accordingly.

He only said it to confuse us, while taking away some more important privilege.

Rulers do not steal. They simply reclaim what was rightfully theirs in the first place.

And if I know my Machiavellington, that’s what he meant by that.

From chapter 17 of The Prince:

Nevertheless a prince ought to inspire fear in such a way that, if he does not win love, he avoids hatred; because he can endure very well being feared whilst he is not hated, which will always be as long as he abstains from the property of his citizens and subjects and from their women.

Ok. He doesn’t say that a prince should not steal, just that he will be hated for it.

It’s the old debate of whether one would want to be a feared ruler or a hated ruler.

It’s a warning, but who listens to those?

Huh. Vacation you say?

I didn’t know I would get PTO for federal crimes!

In other news, those screaming about the election being a coup should look at how a real one is executed in Myanmar.

I’m hoping she takes a vacation at the crossbar motel for a bit.
