The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Could be but it’s DEF how VPOTUS got some spots

The sacrifices Jerry Garcia made for his country far out weigh Lincoln and Jefferson.

Jerry Garcia High School? San Franciscans suggest school names to replace Lincoln, Washington

Whether Garcia’s reputation as a drug abuser would negate the possibility of having a school named for him was not immediately clear

The name of Garcia, the former Grateful Dead frontman and native San Franciscan who died in 1995, came up amid a growing list of alternative names brainstormed by students, parents and staff, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

One woman who called on the board to name at least half of the schools for women suggested actress Hedy Lamarr, who helped develop a defensive World War II communications system that eventually led to Wifi and GPS.

“There were hundreds of women who stood out in our history and made important contributions to our country,” she told the Chronicle. hy not name schools after peaceful women instead of racist, warmongering males?"

****Replacing signage at the 44 schools will cost more than $400,000, according to the Courthouse News. The price tag could also go up to around $1 million for schools to get new activity uniforms, repaint gymnasium floors, walls, etc., according to the Chronicle. The district is also facing a budget deficit.

I don’t think it’s wrong to name schools after someone like Jerry Garcia as names shouldn’t be restricted to politicians. Artists, scientists, philosophers, athletes, heroes of all sorts (military, LEOs, firemen, etc.) should all be in the mix.

With that said, I believe the motivation behind these changes is bad for our nation. It’s an anti-male (specifically white male) driven agenda that seeks to “correct” history rather than provide a balanced view of history. It is at once inclusive and exclusive. It’s dehumanizing as it refuses to look at individuals as individuals who not only had an effect on society and culture but were also affected and shaped by the times they lived in. We are supposed to look at a young criminal in the inner city as the product of his environment yet we don’t extend that thinking to someone who lived a few centuries ago? The truth is this is driven by a sense of vengeance. They should not be called Social Justice Warriors but Social Justice Vigilantes.

These people are also the worst racists and elitists you’ll ever meet. They don’t really care about helping out those who are at a socioeconomic disadvantage but rather, they want to do things that make them feel better about having advantages that came at the expense of those who were less fortunate.

They want to be able to tell their kids, “see, mommy is not a racist. She cares about black people that’s why she wants to get Washington’s name off that school.”

Meanwhile, in the inner city, a mother isn’t privileged enough to care about the names of schools or statues of Columbus because she is more concerned about her son getting killed by criminals or becoming a criminal. And on a side note, defunding or abolishing the police (another elitist/racist idea) won’t help that young man avoid the traps of inner city life.

Yes I agree, but draw the line at Jerry Garcia.

Well said. This “woke war” is destroying our country’s history. And honestly, I feel that most people really don’t give a shit.

Agree. A lot of them are in the criminal justice system ( new D.A. in L.A.) state attorneys, and federal justices all have an hidden agenda.

I worked the housing projects in a major city for 5 years. Most live in conditions that AOC and Maxine Waters have never seen. When I was doing this work, the Grandmother was the head of the family, taking care of the babies and trying to feed everyone, since the daughters were usually drug addicts and the fathers of the babies were no where around. I found the “Grandmothers” to be the real hero’s of the projects. And you are right, she give a shit less about a school having the name of racist warmonger.

I tend to disagree with most of your post, but i think the above is an extremely well made point. Totally agree there.

Yep. The poor need to pick up, they don’t have enough skin in the game tax wise, they are getting hand outs, etc.

Meanwhile the wealthy get tax cuts and bailouts and still manage to convince a lot of people that the biggest problems facing the nation are poor people who are on food stamps or something.

Apparently, the biggest problem is poor people learning how to play the game so well, they can beat the people who made the rules.

There may have to be a separate Stupid Thread for California:

San Francisco is winning the battle for stupidity.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/sfs-lowell-high-school-would-permanently-switch-to-lottery-admission-under-fast-track-proposal/ar-BB1dfyY2

This school does not take underperforming students and make them rocket scientists. It takes already high performing students and gives them a better environment to excel in.

The truth is, and it is the truth, how a school performs academically and behaviorally is most influenced by the student body and what influences it: family, community and peers. Teachers do the best they can with who they are given to teach. By making this school open to anyone, it will turn it into any other school in SF. That in turn will not make anyone want to enter a lottery to get in since it will no longer be special or different or a better school. SJWs ruin everything they touch.

It’s also an example of SJW racism. Rather than try and improve the academic performance of minorities, they lower the standards of admission or in this case, eliminate them completely. What’s the real problem? This school having high standards or minority students being unable to meet them? These people have no belief in minority students’ ability to meet a higher standard so they get rid of standards.

It’s like they couldn’t jump to a more wrong conclusion, so they had to build a bridge of bullshit to get to it.

Now, from what I gather, this is a fairly common German phrase, but one has to marvel at the bone headed-ness that would lead you to use that phrase regarding NI.

Edit: for the record, I am willing to accept that this escalation was a mistake, if only because I believe the Commission is a perfect example of Conquest’s 3rd law.

I think there should be a stupid thread dedicated to San Francisco.

What really amazes me is the seemingly lack of self awareness by the author (and anyone who would bat an eye about someone else’s outerwear)

It sounds like this teacher’s oped was not well received by readers haha. Kind of sad victim culture has become so hip in america that people like this pull muscles stretching for reasons.

Plenty of assholes out there in the world. Kind of dumb to doo mental gymnastics to try and find one.

Yeah I don’t understand that. I mean I can’t walk down the street without seeing at least one jackass. It’s low hanging fruit, we don’t need to go hunting for them.

Bernie wears Burton?

Maybe the guy isn’t such a kook after all.
