The Stupid Thread 2 (Part 1)

Manual shutoffs in the street for water, so that won’t happen. not to mention the liability with shutting off fire water and possibly allowing fire to spread to areas outside the CHAZ. They could shut off power, but that would again create massive liability issues with the city regarding all the automatic life safety stuff run on electrical. Also, this is a small part of a neighborhood. People can come and go as they please, and if you shut off water, youd just have to walk 2 blocks to the next corner market to grab some water. Its not some stronghold with bolstered defenses and checkpoints and stuff.

From what i keep being told from my staff living a few blocks away its really business as usual iinside the CHAZ. just with a little more grafitti up, and no cars on the roads.

I thought they had their utilities figured out already. They’re autonomous, after all.

Seattle sounds like a really great place to live.

If you dont mind the crowding, parking and usual big city issues, its the best big city (in america) to live in that i know of

But, YMMV.

I’m sure there’s lots of good times to be had, especially outdoors. I predict big things ahead for the CHAZ.

How 'bout that rain thing? Was there a seismic shift in climate in the 10 years since I last visited Seattle?

That doesn’t mean they don’t want free stuff from the government that oppressed them.

Rain means LARGE amounts of snow in the mtns 45 mins away (world record for ski area snowfall in a season is Mt Baker). It creates really cool bright (sometimes neon) green rain forests. I’m fair skinned so I don’t get sunburned much and the summers are short compared to California but perfect weather- 75-85 and sunny most everyday. Also, I’m in the office 9-10 hours of the day so I’m not really affected by it weekdays.

That said, may-june sucks when it’s too warm to snow, the days are 16+hrs long and it’s drizzling out… Like right now. But hey, that’s what goretex and good weed and good coffee is for.

All I’m saying is, they set ‘Grey’s anatomy’ in Seattle, so I blame Washington for the 200 hours of that I’ve been subjected to.

Vancouver is close and is miles better.

Since they are autonomous and I have seen a sign posted outside the are saying “Now leaving US” all that stuff doesn’t matter. There is an upstream shutoff somewhere and if the have modern electric meters they can be switched off individually by remote.

Now I am being slightly facetious, but really this group is undermining the bigger message.

The message was never about improving the living conditions in the inner cities. Nothing will change for the poor. Marxists don’t end misery; they just get more people to share it. They call that progress and justice.

But not them personally of course. In all countries behind the Iron Curtain you’ve had state-owned stores that sold all conceivable types of Western goods - from food, drinks, clothing to vehicles. All for the Party elite.

SPUD infrastructure and service isnt funded by taxes, but by the rates it charges customers, so if they pay those bills SPUD wont shut them off. And no they cannot shut down mains to the area because there are areas further down the main that would then have water shutoff, and/or looping systems would be cut and minimum pressure levels for the rest of the connected pressure zones would not be met. Yes i know youre kidding, I’m just nerding out as i make my living designing utilities there. Enginerds gonna enginerd.

That said, the people who have the biggest problem with the CHAZ are the people who live far away from it. I get why people are making fun of it, but i really dont understand why folks are getting worked up about it (like the guy in one of the threads who said he would pay money to watch the military indiscriminately fire artillery into the area and kill everyone there).

I believe the cops have already gone in and reopened the precinct.

I am an engineer too…no worries.

STREAM CHAZ. STREAM IT 24/7. I don’t usually watch trainwreck reality TV but I would watch CHAZ.

Damned lunatics

They realized that they would, for the first time in their lives, have to do something that resembled a job. The horror.

I am personally not worked up about it, it is concerning that police under orders of a few politicians would pull out of an area and leave the citizens at the mercy of an angry mob. Maybe it’s business as usual and there’s nothing to see here.

The primary thing that I pay taxes for is for the government to provide safety and security, more so than schools and roads and any of that other shit we delegate to the government, because without safety and security nothing else matters. Seattle’s cowardly douche of a mayor doesn’t get to walk away from his obligations. Was there a referendum? Did the citizens who live or own small businesses vote to be abandoned by their municipal government? This is not acceptable.

I don’t live there, it’s not my problem. It bothers me on the same way watching a youtube video of a motor vehicle crash in Russia bothers me. Those are my fellow humans, they’re being held hostage by a pack of spoiled, possibly violent children. It’s not ok.

I absolutely do not want to see the federal government involved in this.

I actually searched for this on youtube in several different terms and was disappointed that no feeds could be found.
