He is simply trying to restore balance to the universe. Over population was crippling most planets and creating ‘unnecessary’ poverty. As he put it “the universe has finite resources.”
His universe is the one I want to live in… Or die in if I get the short straw…
That’s the thing though…you hear his theory that we need “balance” (which is a bit of a weasel word; we think it sounds good but it needs a context) and that sounds …nice…but what does it entail? Killing literally vigintillions of sentient beings.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the folks in here that gave proper warning when they were giving out spoilers, I am stoked to see Infinity War, but don’t know when I’ll get a chance, it is sincerely appreciated haha
See I love the fact that it went over the top but never turned into slapstick. There’s a film before this from the same director and lead actor called The Untold Story(Human Meat Buns) but it’s a lot less fun and a little depressing but it’s based on a true story.
I heard some sobbing and a gasp or two once the superheroes started disintegrating. Strangely enough, none from the 8 (or so, young) kid and his family sitting next to me (afaik) but rather from the middle-aged ladies sitting nearby.
The last couple of minutes felt genuinely disturbing though, and I liked the way they handled Black Panther and Spiderman’s disintegration.
Imagine watching all your battle buddies literally crumbling into dust before your eyes, and you know that it’s happening to HALF the population of the universe.
At that time you could see him in a silly comedy, a category 3 sex film, a big budget action film and an arthouse film in a single year.
I’m even more surprised that someone in the West has watched it lol.
I watched most of the gangster and exploitation films during that era. Was friends with an illegal vcd vendor who would compile all the new category 3 films and pass them to me. They were all banned over here. They even changed the fucking ending of Infernal Affairs and the Young and Dangerous films so that the cops won and the gangsters were all sentenced to prison because of the spike in youth gang related activities…

Totally mate. I’m surprised he never tried the Hollywood route then I realise that Ebola was definitely Hollywood kryptonite.
I had a mate who would visit family in HK and bring a shit ton of VCDs home with him. I’m sure the last one was Human Pork Chop.
I’m sure he used to wax on about some mythical movie called Legendary Whores Of China which always used to raise a chuckle. What a title!
