I’m down, haha. Thanks for the recs; I think I have to see Goldeneye next just because the videogame was part of my childhood and it was the first Bond movie I’d ever heard of.

Ok, new movie trilogy, since I’ve been thinking about James Bond.

1.) Dr. No - 1962

You have a Scotsman who is a British-trained assassin, given the name “James Bond,” so we never learn his real name.

2.) The Rock - 1996

You have “John Mason,” but that’s also not his real name. Who initially got arrested in 1962. The FBI and CIA think he is former SAS, but the British deny this. At the end of the movie he fakes his death.

3.) Entrapment - 1999

He’s back in Scotland, using all his skills to be a badass art thief in retirement, going by the name “Robert MacDougal.”

Addendum - But in reality . . .

Alien Romulus - Now streaming (Hulu maybe? I always forget which service). I thought that there was plenty of action and it was cool how they tied this one in with the very first Alien in clever ways-I won’t give details in case you haven’t seen it-BUT my biggest gripe with it was the utter lack of character development. I think they simply chose to just focus on action, the aliens/running/killing, etc, which I’m usually pretty fine with, but it does seem like when you know more about the characters it tends to help you root for/against them which is more fun.

  • Compared to other Alien movies, I would place this one firmly in the middle, not the worst (The Alien where Ripley is marooned on the prison planet…jesus christ that was horrible) and in my opinion, while the original Alien was of course the best in the series, I have Prometheus very high up there as well. I did like the most recent Alien movie as well-Alien Covenant.

Twisters is now streaming also. It was very entertaining, really good action and great CGI. Naturally the original Twister was still way better. Negatives? The millennial characters, the main character/girl is annoying and it’s like they went overboard making Glen Powell this supposed badass, country, tough guy Tornado Wrangler and just made him really cheesy. Plus, the “attraction” between the two main characters, Glen Powell and whoever the dumb main chick was, seemed so forced and not natural. Glen Powell would not give that chick a second look in real life as she was about as hot as Joy Behar on the View. Ok, ok, she wasn’t that bad but nobody is going to endanger themselves in real life to save her from a tornado.

Last, I see that Terrifier 3 is now available to rent on…Prime? But I’m not paying $20 so I’ll wait until it streams free but I can’t wait to see it. It grossed over $55 million on like a $2mm budget, and it easily beat Joker 2 in the box office. If you haven’t seen the first 2 films, they are streaming as well and are excellent IF you like truly gory, violent scary movies. This franchise, with Art the Clown, is poised to become the next “Freddy” or “Jason” of horror movies. This film also earned the most money of ANY unrated movie!

No Goldfinger? In my top 2 or 3 of the Bond movies.

I like the Roger Moore ones quite a bit, even the bad ones. The one with Christopher Walken is pretty fun, although not a good movie. Midge from That 70s Show was a Bond girl in that one. For your eyes only is also solid.

It’s iconic, but I wouldn’t call it good. Although a fat man with bad hair obsessed with gold and dick lazers feels oddly modern.

I like them too, but I feel the Timothy Dalton ones are better.

One of my favorites.

Moonraker is good because it’s campy.

Live and Let Die with Jane Seymour as the primary Bond girl is great too.

I like it mostly… the Easter Eggs and nostalgia were fun. The human alien thing was grotesque

We went to go see Captain America in 3D today. I think I’m now up to having seen roughly 5 percent of the Marvel films, so I knew this was going to be a movie about superheroes.

I was glad that the number of superheroes was kept to a minimum compared to other Marvel films, as it made it a lot easier to follow along. I was still often confused about was happening, with very little idea of why.

The biggest mystery to me is the power source of Captain America’s propulsion system, along with wondering why he would ever take it off unless he’s chilling at home.

It was definitely one of the better Marvel films I’ve seen lately, and by far the least confusing.

All right you little freshman bitches, AIR RAID!

Me and my friends basically spent our high school years of 1995-1998 attempting to recreate Dazed and Confused every weekend, and often succeeding.

We didn’t have a moon tower, but we had the most epic party barn you can imagine. His parents would leave for their lake home in Kentucky for weeks at a time, and we emptied a LOT of kegs in that barn.

His parents decked the whole place out. Bar, stage, sound system, restaurant booths, fridges on each side, a pool table, and all kinds of wild decorations, including a human skull. Plus a whole big grass field to camp in.

Alright, alright, alright…

I watched the first episode of season 3 of “The White Lotus” on HBO.

Parker Posie is in the show, and all I can think of when she’s on screen is that scene.

Season 3 of Reacher drops on Amazon tomorrow.

Meanwhile, my feminine side found an old Australian series called McLeod’s Daughters, the adventures of 5 ladies working/running a big ranch. The storylines…are very engaging.

Is engaging storylines code for something? Or do you just actually like the stories?

If it was 5 dudes and a bunch of cows, I would not watch.

Levity aside, life in the Australian outback-ish is interesting, although it’s been 20 years so probably already a lot different.

I didn’t understand why the rock was in the ocean or why Captain Americas throwing knives could hurt Red Hulk, but 25mm chain gun cannon rounds just bounced off of him.

What were all of the other superheroes busy with when this was going down?

Why was no heavier ordinance deployed against Red Hulk?

How is Captain America able to withstand the g-forces generated by his unexplained propulsion system?

Do black people still want Captain America after watching it? Or would the community be open to trading his identity to the Native Americans in exchange for a black Red Wolf?

I’m REALLY confused!

I didn’t see the movie, but I’ve got questions:

When did Captain America become black? What happened to the original CA?

How does wearing a wing suit make you a superhero? At least with Ironman, the suit looked cool, it offered pretty decent armor/protection, and had MANY “functionalities”. Oh yeah, and Tony Stark was a billionaire genius too, which at least helped support the case for Iron Man being a superhero.

Why is the hulk now red, and an old man? Where is the green hulk? If they were to meet, is a fight inevitable? And, who do you put your money on?

Back to “Captain America”…I wonder, since we’re doing opposites, will they be making a “white panther” movie? If they did, would there immediately be cries of racism? Would chaos ensue? Will they do a reboot of Shaft with a white actor? Would that be “okay”? Should they just do a superhero movie with characters of every race/sex/LGBTQRSTUV etc? How much will it lose [$$]?

Finally, who will finally answer the pressing question…WILL James Bond become black? Idris Elba backed out of the conversation due to his not wanting to be the person who fiddled with James Bond, is this still being considered? Man, I don’t know what’s going on these days.
