Check out an old Aussie movie called Fortress. Has Vernon Wells (Wez from The Road Warrior) in it
Im a Hellraiser fan.
I’ve still actually never seen hellraiser!
I’ll check it out tonight.
I liked part 3 a lot. Not sure why it’s gotten so much hate.
It’s really hard to believe this given all the other stuff you’ve watched that few people have even heard of lol. WHY?
They still pump out a new one every year or so. Presumably to maintain rights to the brand.
Are you telling me most people HAVEN’T seen the guinea pig films?
What is this madness
Have you seen audition? That movie also creeped me out.
Particularly when she is crouched in the corner smiling and the mutilated guy in the bag starts spazzing around and you think “what is that? Who is that? Is it a ghost?”
But no… It’s a person, with his limbs and shit missing… I saw the film a long time ago
Did they ever answer why she was so evil? I think she was abused as a child but that doesn’t explain why she tortured/maimed the man who loved her.
Most were not real Hellraiser movies. That ended with the horrible part 4. I made the mistake of watching one of them only to realize it was based on a refurbished script with cenobites added in sparingly just to turn it into one.
But you’re right about the retaining the rights part. The latest 2 were real Hellraiser movies but they had such miniscule budgets and sucked so bad I gave up after 10mins.
Haha. They bored me to tears.
I did but I didn’t really like it much. It was ok, I guess. Can see the influence it has had on Tarantino’s later flicks.
I’m not sure about her motives. I’ve long given up trying to make sense of anything Takashi Miike makes lol.
You wanna see what that pretty talented loon comes up with when he decides to make a martial arts action flick with top notch fight choreography?
You should watch this cinematic masterpiece
For what it is, it’s actually kind of entertaining. It’s SO bad that it’s actually kind of good.
The tumbling doll if flesh is like the flower of flesh and blood, but XXX
I haven’t seen it, but I know of it. I’ve studied obscure film/media quite a bit in my spare time. They used to have “roughie” films in the 1970’s, 1980’s and to a lesser extent the 1990’s. They were sexploitation/grindhouse (occasionally XXX) films that blended sex and violence with an emphasis on the latter
Thriller: a cruel picture (R/NC-17)
Forced entry (there’s an XXX version and an R rated horror movie version)
Wet wilderness (xxx)
Water power (xxx)
Bloodsucking freaks (R)
The sinful dwarf (R/xxx depending on cut)
The image (NC-17/unrated)
The devil in miss Jones (xxx)
The tumbling doll of flesh (more splatter, but also fits in this category).
The gore gore girls (NC-17/unrated)
I never saw the point behind these films, and to note I haven’t seen many of them. I’ve seen the sinful dwarf, thriller, bloodsucking freaks and the devil in miss Jones.
Are these films legitimately meant to arouse? You’d have to be somewhat deranged for a quasi slasher film to make you aroused. Even the devil in miss Jones. The film is about a girl who kills herself, is told she’s going to be doomed to spend the rest of eternity in hell due to her manner of death so she comes back to earth in effort to do things she’d always wanted to do, but living/abiding my a moral code never acted upon… getting one final chance before going to hell. How is that sexy? That’s sad…
Forced entry (both versions) is about a Vietnam war vet with intractable PTSD who commits atrocities when he has flashbacks… That’s sexy? It’s gory too, like a more graphic and even grimier version of the last house on the left.
What’s more, in effort to really get the viewer in the mood it ACTUALLY uses Vietnam war footage… Fairly disturbing footage…
If I wanted a film with violence and arousing sex scenes I’d watch the later wrong turn films (wrong turn: bloodlines could have been on skinamax)
I had the misfortune of watching The Gore Gore Girls. Seriously thought that one was really made by some fuckhead depicting his fantasies about torturing and killing women while passing it off as a “real” movie. At least other movies may have had a point: Women should stay in the kitchen to avoid getting killed lol.
Tumbling Doll of Flesh was pure torture and snuff porn in it’s most literal sense. It never bothered to hide it. The Gore Gore Girls actually showed so much despise for females I couldn’t believe it was made even then.
August undergrounds mordum is waaaaayyyyy worse. Arguably as is where the dead go to die, but it’s animated thus mitigating the impact
I watched some of it after watching the trailer on YouTube. Looked extreme but I had no idea just how bad it was. The director/actors in the film don’t use their real names presumably to avoid legal trouble
I turned it off 30 mins in, it’s like a bad LSD trip with extremely grotesque yet badly animated visuals. Looks like a PS1 game. It’s very, very, very disturbing and I legitimately believe those who created it ought to be looked into if not prosecuted. Look up the IMDB parental guide to see what kind of content I’m talking about, don’t watch the film.
I actually didn’t expect an extreme film when I turned it on. It was on Netflix under the slasher film subcategory years back. The wizard of gore and blood feast are two other “splatter flicks” without the misogynistic aspect. If you like practical effects that are devoid of CGI/old grindhouse you might want to check them out. Also, two thousand maniacs…
There are so many obscure 70’s and 80’s grindhouse and slasher films I can almost guarantee you’ve never seen. I could make a list of literally like 40 lol
I did and I got an almost similar vibe although they actually had real plots. I don’t buy the rationale that the fucker was “pushing the limits of gore” when the sfx and acting were so laughably bad lol.
“He had… wild eyes! Ishtar! Ishtar!”

Haha, I’d believe that. Wouldn’t have had the time anyway since I was also into HK flicks.
The wizard of gore had a remake in 2007
I wonder what the point of a film like this is though. Surely the audience that actually gets off to this kind of abhorrent content is so small making a film like this wouldn’t be profitable.
Did it look like it even had a budget over $3.50 lol? I’ve seen student films with better production values. The only real “high” expenses they would have incurred would have been the rental of film equipment during the time it was made if it wasn’t produced by a small company that already had them.
Fortress is a really cool movie too.
Hellraiser needs a proper reboot but its still very good
Last one was the end of that. Not too bad either.
First 2 and part of 3 are still the best
Not sure which film you’re talking about
I think thankskilling was shot on a budget of around 5,000$
The sequel had far more money allocated to it as the creators unexpectedly made quite a bit of money when it became a cult hit.
Didn’t you ask about Tumbling Doll of Flesh’s profit potential? It couldn’t have taken more than a weekend to film it. It was shot in one location and the production value was crap.
There weren’t any cheap, high quality cameras and audio/lighting equipment available until after 2010. Prior to that, you had to pay to rent them if you wanted to make a movie that didn’t look like it was shot on a shitty cellphone and you’d have lots of problems shooting outdoors because of the audio and indoors because of the lack of lighting.
So I would assume it was cheap as shit and most of the budget went to renting film equipment if it was an indie flick although I suspect it was really produced by some porn film company as some kind of weird addition to it’s main products.
EDIT:
To give you a further idea of what it was like, I had to buy a $10,000 camera in 2009 but I still had to rent other equipment for commercial projects because the cost/benefit ratio didn’t justify purchasing them until a couple of years back when you could get cheap, quality shit probably because of the rise in demand from YouTube content creators.
Without the other equipment, the camera would still be useless no matter expensive it cost but it cost a lot to rent one at the time and you’d be constantly pretty fucking worried of damaging it since they’d give you a fucking expensive one so I decided to buy one myself. The other equipment were relatively cheap to rent.
Nowadays everything’s even cheaper. You’d be a fool not to invest in them if you want to make any form of media. Steadicams, cams with gimbles and shit, various more efficient, transportable and storable lighting stuff, a wide variety different types of mics and editing software so advanced I can make something that looks and sounds like a multimillion dollar production with a couple of thousand bucks and people still make crap that looks like it was shot on a cheap cellphone.
I think it’s because they think only a good camera and post production are required and don’t know how to do a proper set up for the filming location.
Shit, even when I engage a cheap freelance cinematographer, sometimes the dude will have even more advanced camera stuff than I do lol. I mostly purchase other equipment when better shit comes out nowadays. And every year, they’re getting better.
Fuck, I now use a fucking good cameraman who can replicate a Michael Bay revolving shot with just with a good steadicam outdoors and if I color correct it properly during post and slipped it into one of his movies you probably won’t notice it’s not part of the movie. No one has any fucking excuse to make crap on the technical end nowadays.

I think you guys might really like the movie “Fatherhood” on Netflix
So good- might be tears involved
