The Return of Even More Movies You've Watched This Week III

I watched Infinite last night. It’s on Paramount+, new streaming service, got the 7 day trial to check it out. Mark Wahlberg is an infinite, meaning he gets reincarnated with memories and skills from past lives. The movie starts with a cool premise - that he’s a diagnosed schizophrenic, but they don’t really take advantage of that storyline much and eventually it just turns into a bad knockoff of The Matrix. Pretty disappointing.

3/10. Maybe 2.5.

Luca

New Pixar movie that popped up on Disney+ recently. Very cute and enjoyable film. I really enjoyed the animation style, and while the movie as a whole was a bit simplistic by Pixar standards, they just make such good films that I was happily entertained from start to finish.

8/10

About to watch it with the kids! Glad you posted a quick review. Love watching a good movie like this as a family.

Let me know what you think of it after!

This may be the lowest points I’ve ever seen you give a movie lol.

I’m usually wary when Hollywood decides to make action movies about people with mental disabilities. So tired of the “autism gives you superpowers” shit. Since I’ve been dealing with a schizo relative for over a decade now, from the way you described it, I think my eyes will end up rolling so much I’ll go fucking blind if I watch this.

He’s not schizophrenic. Just misdiagnosed because he claims to be able to remember past lives and do stuff. Which, you know, he can. Like crafting the best katanas on earth by hand to sell to a drug dealer for anti psychotic medication because he thinks he’s schizophrenic too (at first).

That’s already dumb enough lol. WTF? And FFS how fucking expensive are anti-psychotics? They’re like just a little more costly than SSRIs. About the same price or even cheaper than tri-cyclic anti-depressants. You need to craft katanas to afford them? Next we’ll see clinically depressed people giving bjs in dark alleys for Prozac.

:joy: :joy: :joy:

And what kind of fucking anti-psychotics are they selling on the black market? The only thing I’ve heard of there is Seroquel. That’s dirt cheap unless you’re in prison. You might as well get it from a GP at a subsidized rate if you’ve been formally diagnosed.

EDIT:

Oh, I think I get it. This guy’s been misdiagnosed with SUPER schizophrenia. So he needs SUPER anti-psychotics that don’t exist in the real world which cost as much as heroin.

What the fuck is Hollywood going to think of next? SUPER depression? No, wait, we already saw it in End of Days. You end up with super abilities like nonchalantly chugging horrifying protein shakes blended with coffee and leftover pizza every morning without gagging and telling the Devil he’s “a choir boy compared to you” right in his face. LMFAO.

Rick & Morty - Such a good show. The new season should drop this year at some stage too. Morty won’t catch a break, it’d muck up the plot…

Shit, the more I think about it, the more I’m tempted to watch it just to see how bad it is. The dude can craft the “best katanas on earth” and he doesn’t even know to surf the web to find online Indian pharmacies selling generics at a fraction of the prices in 1st World countries? I even hypothetically used to get HCG and nolvadex from one of these sites. I’m guessing he was never an Indian in one of his past lives.

Knowing you - which is a funny expression because I don’t know you at all, but am well acquainted with your movie reviews - you’d thoroughly enjoy picking it apart. If I had watched it through a “laugh cause it’s bad” lens I’d probably have had fun.

Seriously - 8.5/10. Pixar rarely disappoints, but it’s such a stark contrast to what I was talking about with Infinite - they just did a bad job of stealing the plot from the Matrix, whereas Luca drew on a cool idea from The Little Mermaid but was able to explore it because smoochy-smooch love wasn’t getting in the way.

Just the thought of the fucking irony that reincarnation is involved and he’s never been an Indian is almost enough to compel me to watch it lol.

Also, Mark Wahlberg is just Mark Wahlberg through the whole movie. I should have mentioned that. Don’t be prepared to see him take on a role or anything.

Tucci’s monologue about the bridge is one of the best parts of a very entertaining move.

Mine run over $3400 a month without insurance.

I admittedly don’t understand how your system works since we don’t have your insurance system here. But wouldn’t that make every OTHER drug also ridiculously expensive?

Once a generic is approved, things get real cheap, real fast. Until then things can suck. I am lucky enough to have good insurance and there are actual coupons that bring the price down considerably if you don’t have insurance (to like $1800/month).

Forgive me if this is too personal, but what are you taking? I’m only asking because I’ve gotten familiar with all these drug names and prices in different countries over the years due to taking my relative to various shrinks.

You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. Thanks.

Latuda is the most expensive one currently. It’s a cocktail of several, though.

Thanks. Never heard of this one. I’ve seen the prices of drugs like Olanzapine all the way to Resulti and they’re nowhere near that price even when bought from private practitioners here. There aren’t any generic versions for the latter the last time I last checked.

EDIT:

$3400 is fucking ridiculous. I don’t think I got a bill above 1000USD for a cocktail of drugs including Resulti from a private practitioner here. Zero subsidies. I live in the First World. My relative gets the same drugs even cheaper from a private clinic since he had to go back to China. He only came here to try out a new shrink someone recommended me.
